you're too young! ...... oz, lb, st, cwt, ton ...... thus 16 ounce = 1 pound; 14 pounds = 1 stone; 8 stone = 1 hundredweight; 20 hundredweight = 1ton

we could then get into bushels, but that is dangerous ground ...... however, a bushel of corn (i think different with other grains) weighs 56 lbs = 4 stone

Sounds better to say my weight is a hundred weight and three quarters.:-))

but of course 1 ton should never be confused with wonton or even wanton!

1 bu corn = 56 lbs

1 bu barley = 48 lbs

36.74 bushels of wheat = 1 metric ton

33.33 bushels of wheat = 1 short ton

when real people were using bushels, soybeans had never been heard of!
nor for that matter had the metric tonne (please note!) nor the short ton (a nasty american imposter aka illegal immigrant!).

in the good old days, if you spoke of a bushel, you meant a bushel of corn - i.e. 56 lbs and thus half cwt!

Then we are talking about the American size bushel , now thats a different story. :-))
