Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Plenty of choice nowadays
As of the end Nov. there were more than 1000 microbreweries in the UK
and rising. There are more than 30 in London,5 of them in Hackney .
So much so that JDW are featuring many of them all over London in
the next two months.
edit.
We are of on the big fish swallowing the smaller again.
Molson Coors swallowed Sharps recently and Franciscan Well in Ireland
(maybe connected to Sharps) was swallowed by a big Co.

you're too young! ...... oz, lb, st, cwt, ton ...... thus 16 ounce = 1 pound; 14 pounds = 1 stone; 8 stone = 1 hundredweight; 20 hundredweight = 1ton
we could then get into bushels, but that is dangerous ground ...... however, a bushel of corn (i think different with other grains) weighs 56 lbs = 4 stone

but of course 1 ton should never be confused with wonton or even wanton!

Come on do the job, you have mised half the info. :-))
1 bushel of wheat or soybeans = 60 pounds (77.2 Kg./hl.)
1 bu corn = 56 lbs
1 bu barley = 48 lbs
36.74 bushels of wheat = 1 metric ton
33.33 bushels of wheat = 1 short ton
• The metric ton of 2204.6 pounds is the weight unit most widely used in reporting international trade statistics.
• The short ton of 2000 pounds is domestically used in the United States, as well as in some other countries.
• 1 bushel of wheat will make about 73 loaves of white bread, 1 lb. each.
• 2.3 bushels of wheat will make 100 pounds of white flour (72% extraction).

when real people were using bushels, soybeans had never been heard of!
nor for that matter had the metric tonne (please note!) nor the short ton (a nasty american imposter aka illegal immigrant!).
in the good old days, if you spoke of a bushel, you meant a bushel of corn - i.e. 56 lbs and thus half cwt!

So giving you a test, what weighs more a bushel of wheat, barley or oats. No looking up the answer. :-))

I hope the weather where you are is better than it is here. Wish I was young again, used to enjoy walking 2 miles to school piddling around in the snow - gone are those days. Still went outside and made a path way and salted and felt slightly childish remembering the tingling hands - believe me if the joints in my body and the chest would have allowed I would have been making a huge snowman. May I add I could also have made snow balls from the snow on the bush if I could have found it - didn't see the pussy that hangs around either!! Nite Nite.
