Morning everyone from a very fine but windy SA.
Mrs lw is safely ensconced back in Blighty, she phoned just after I'd dropped off into a deep sleeo last night. She really has 'the knack!', you guys will know what I mean.
Anyway I'm now on my ownsome lonesome until Christmas Day morning when she returns on a Virgin Flight. This got me wondering about the whole Bible thing, Virgin birth etc...nah..it couldn't have been a Branson promotion, could it?

Amber..only just catching up on posts so re your questions on televised house selling. Its on the satellite network that I thought just covered SA but apparently covers the whole of Africa; so far no response that I know of and , to be fair, I wasn't overimpressed with it. Seemed a bit amateurish and the commentary missed a lot of important salient points "north facing", "golf estate" "24 hour security" etc all pretty basic stuff.

I think you'd like a slice of Orange Alert, he's a magnificent looking three year old colt, a real 'big boy', 4 wins to his credit out of 6 starts.

I'm up to the stable on Thurs at 5am to watch our filly strutt her stuff in the 2nd string. Thats the group of up and coming youngsters just entering full training but I will also be there early enough to watch the first string, those three & four year olds fully 'doing the business'on the gallops.
They just go like the wind and its a fantastic sight to see, I may pick up some info for Jessie but its always dodgy giving ones views when meanwhile at another yard someone's thinking the same thoughts about their nag.

Thanks LW for reply and sorry Opto for disappearing, was on the other side, I'll pour a coffee to make up!

Spaceman - 07 Dec 2004 10:29 - 20449 of 23498

Arrived in Norwich and its bloody freezing, didnt even manage to get a nice cup of coffee. Still it gets better from here, I have just been told that tomorrow I am going shopping at Ikea and the Bluewater, I can hardly wait, Bluewater during the Christmas shopping season !!!!!!

little willie - 07 Dec 2004 11:22 - 20450 of 23498

Hi Opto, Fundi, Amber [ now presume you've turned over] and a frozen Spacey...lol.. got this image of one of those frozen drink in a tube that you used to be able to get, don't know if they still do them.
No offence, Spacey, its just the image you portray over the thread....

Isn't Ikea all flatpack etc? we know someone who's now an expert in that I believe...

As for Bluewater.. never been or wanted to but enjoy the experience!..I'll be enjoying blue water of my own...the pool, water now steady around 82 degrees.

I was talking to one of our lady members at the golf club the other day; she's a really beautiful woman about 38 yrs called Paaula and her + her husband won a trip to the UK for 5 days to watch the recent rugby match between England and the Boks at Twickenham.
Its amazing the innocence that these people still have; they're white Afrikaans running a very successfull farming business and she was saying that on the underground she saw a woman reading a book that she herself read.
Being the type of friendly people that they, like most SA's are, she commented that it was a good book, what a great place London was and how it was their first visit there etc and tried to make conversation.
She was totally blanked by the person who she thought maybe didn't hear her clearly or couyldn't understand what with her dialect so she repeated herself only to be told to f..k off.
She tried three other times to speak with people and each time was totally blanked.
I told her they probably either didn't speak English or that they were illegalls but how bloody sad. I also said no-one speaks on trains or looks you in the face!!
She then said that inside Twickers everyone was fabulous, a really party atmosphere, full of chat and laughter.
Where has it all gone wrong I ask myself?? And it was one of the main reason we, ourselves left those shores...

Golddog - 07 Dec 2004 11:24 - 20451 of 23498

Morning all.

welcome back spacey.

Fundy, thats good news and hope all goes well with the next steps.

I have made a pot of herbal tea. So i will have a coffee.

I think bunny is unwell in bed so i will just nip up and see if she wants anything.

amberjane - 07 Dec 2004 11:30 - 20452 of 23498

Well what a shame LW that i wasnt on that tube. I met a young guy last week from America who was lost trying to get back to Victoria. As i was going there I said I would show him and we had a lovley chat all the way. he was going to Gatwick to meet his girlfriend for a 3 week holiday and had the thought of proposing whilst here. He wanted a suggestion as to where he may do this, well im not a londoner but said as a thought the London eye may be as romantic as any if he took her up there at night. He wrote it down to find out about it but also took my number as said he wanted to phone me to let me know the outcome. I then took him right to the Gatwick express area. Such a shame your friend got that treatment coz we're not all like that!!

Priscilla - 07 Dec 2004 11:34 - 20453 of 23498

Amber...you naughty girl. Some bloke is planning to propose to his girlfriend and you gave him your number??? In case she said 'No!' more likely! Cute, was he?

amberjane - 07 Dec 2004 11:41 - 20454 of 23498

Actually now you mention it......he was! Very young and excitable :>)

Priscilla - 07 Dec 2004 11:45 - 20455 of 23498

You noticed, hmmmmm!

Golddog - 07 Dec 2004 11:50 - 20456 of 23498

This is how it goes.....A Very young and excitable American tells his girlfriend to meet him at the London Eye. She gets there to find another woman called Amberjane who as a very important message for her from the Amercian, 'please go to London Bridge to meet me', and off she goes. After a few minutes the American turns up at London Eye with no sign of his girlfriend, but he does recognise that sweet innocent girl called Amber. Whats the chances of meeting like this, they gaze into each other eyes and then go on the London eye to make love. They get married have 6 kids and live happily ever after in Blackpool.

You see i know what your thinking Amber!
:-)
