Just another silly guess - maybe Sphere have said they want to use their manufacturing capacity to make Starpol for the US market - do they have such capcity. I guess being a manufacturing company, they could tool up as soon as any JV in US.
Thinking of selling my entire holding and sticking in pin in the racing gazette - I have more in depth knowledge of those probabilties than SEO just at the moment!

Just re-read it.
No longer plans to license Biotec IP to its JV partners in the US.
Biotec has many items in its IP portfolio. Perhaps the original agreement with Sphere said that SEO must license all the IP or none at all, the US JV partners are not willing to pay for the entire range and stalled negotiations, SEO have gone back to Sphere and said we are not going to license the other stuff, Sphere have kicked off, SEO have said tough, we've got the casting vote.
My point is that is does not say Starpol resin is not going to be licensed.
Still lost.

Anyone clarify.
Acording to my records, SEO several months ago stated they intended to jointly license with a limited number of US companies.
Could it be that Sphere have pushed SEO too hard, so SEO have withdrawn the proposed deal and will carry on the licencing with the others.
Anyone know how many such deals were completed. I may have missed something obvious with all the stuff put out over the last year.
I for one am going to E Mail SEO for clarification. Suggest we all inundate company with E Mails demanding such.

It seems very strange that Sphere should make an announcement of what Stanelco are or are not doing. Why should they make the announcement and not SEO?
Isn't Biotec IP crucial for Starpol to go ahead? If so SEO would appear to be a dead duck. Lots of scenarios, but what about this one.
SEO are not going to license the IP in its planned US JV, but Sphere are.
Could it be that the US JV has stumbled because of SEO's precarious financial position and so the licensing and deal will be done by Sphere, who are financially secure?
Another (darker) scenario is that Sphere are taking advantage of SEO's financial position and are positioning to pick up SEO's share in Biotec at a bargain price!

It's not an announcement - it's a news story!

The only thing that is very obvious to me is that SEO own 50% of Biotec, including a golden share, so any change that happens between SEO and Biotec must surely be to SEO's benefit. Even if Sphere wanted to pull a fast one or pull the rug, they could not do anything to the detriment of SEO because SEO have the power to block it until October 2009.
Based on that, the move must be orchestrated by SEO.
Still lost.

Good morning all
I have just spoken to Sylvia Leavey and she knew nothing about the announcement from Sphere this morning. She had just arrived in office at about 8.15am
Have e-mailed it to her and asked her for clarification and what the implication is for the company and their future negotiations. Also asked her to clarify the import and implications of Price Monitoring Extension announcement last night. She told me that Mr Duggan was trying get clarification on that as well. I got the impression that they thought those announcements might have been made by mistake.
I told her that my phone had rung several times this morning with anxious people expecting the demise of Stanelco and asked her if she thought she would still have her job in a month's time. She confidently said that she did.
She also said that all the directors were very positive.
Lets hope that this is true.
The oily one

Thanks Oily.
Was just about to e-mail her myself to ask what the hell was going on. I just cling to the golden share bit.

Alan,
This Golden Share question is all very well, but if SEO's back is really up against the wall it means very little - Sphere have the upper hand Golden share or not. For all we know, SEO are deperately looking for a way to survive. Doing so without Biotec may be preferable to not surviving at all.
Nothing to base this on naturally - just another possible scenario. Just to show I'm taking a balanced view, another scenario is that the two deals go through, followed closely by 30 others, followed by major GS rollout and the SP climbs steadily to several pounds. I know which looks most likely to me at the moment!

Oily, thanks for your post - always intersting to hear something from the horses mouth (no offence meant to Sylvia!).
But
Wouldn't we expect them to show an external air of positivity? If your company is facing extinction would you be saying 'We're days away from going bust and there's nothing we can do'? No, you'd put on a brave face, stiff upper lip and deny in public that anything was wrong until you have too.

Another one!
A poster I have not seen before, coming from nowhere to express negative views that do not seem to be his financial concern.

in competenece of the highest order again by SEO's board. Why the f--k weren't Sphere involved, informed and consulted on the negotiations. If the board have shown total neglect on this front then the sooner they are banged up the better.

If you haven't seen me before you must walk around with your eyes shut
Irrespective to your beliefs my post was of genuine concern and i honestly hope things pick up for you guys
Also i think that the SEO management should put an end to this silence and clear things up one way or the other for the shareholders of this company as this no response approach is not doing much for sentiment of the PI's or their belief in the board

maestro you're an out and out liar as all they say is that they will not release any comment until they have some news to release. There is 1 thing SEO seem not to have done so far and that is give away indications over the phone as to future developments either positive or negative.

Still can't see this company going bust.
Am I still right in believeing theres enough cash in bank for 8 weeks?
