Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

GF.
Supports what I have thought for last 18 months.
I am as stated before a political atheist, but the government is in mind the biggest bunch if self interested lying and incompetent "fellows" I have witnessed in 60 years of being observational and interested in politics.
Government is complicated and b. difficult but as is obvious to Europeans Cameron's stances are those of self interest and not that of the whole of Europe. The same is becoming more and more obvious to the electorate of this country.
Self interest is a necessary "evil", but the strength of all is related to the strength of the weakest and is sensible to recognise this.

It will take a long time to reverse the previous governmental spending policies, especially that of a Labour government which did nothing but spend from the moment it came into power until the moment the voters had seen enough. Doubling the national debt in what was mostly a period of prosperity, quite an achievement.
I see Milliband was left floundering in the wake of Cameron's speech when he declared Labour's definite position on a referendum. Definite until the spin doctors reversed his categorical statement. U turns?
Political aetheist? You're as red as the red on that National Debt chart, you couldn't vote anything but Labour if your life depended on it

you evade the question ..... at the very least, confirm that you did indeed vote at the last general election, if not giving the party - and what about local elections?

Fred what I will say is its a laugh how you are so quick to comment on the subject of Britain paying down its debt. When I have posted the debt run up by the Labour party
1. Either you did not have your glasses on
2. You ignored it
3. It does not matter what someone says about the Labour party as you are not going to listen anyway
Unlike you I will say that of David Cameron to state Britains debt is being payed off was wrong to say. It just goes to show with all the cut backs (I could say left from the over spend Labour party but I will not) the debt is still growing. Not going to get into Labour would of done this or that. I do know you cannot create jobs with the WORLD economy as it is,. Look at Spains unemployed for instance.
Now its time the British public took more interest in their country. By just sitting down on a Sunday morning and watching the Andrew Marr programme or indeed read a newspaper they would learn a lot. The debt rising I have known for months as said I take an interest. (The country is being cut to the bone, what more can they do) Please do not go on about the cons and how they waste money as I could go on all day how much the Labour party put on the credit card to try and win the election.
I do not expect you to even agree Fred because as far as Labour are concerned I do not feel you are balanced. As you can see I have said DC was wrong to say what he did, but to this day have never seen You say that of Labour. You may laugh but just think.

Chuckles,
As you seem to believe in fairies:-
This must have been written by Dave and George:
Government Debt Help has been put in place by introducing and approving various Schemes
"Read below to discover your legal rights debt relief
You should not be attempting to make debt payments you cannot comfortably afford
The Government has ensured that help is available for people struggling to make debt repayments. Government legislation is in place to help anyone who is finding it difficult to meet their monthly debt repayments."

in that case fred, you have no right whatsoever to grizzle about what ANY gov't does or does not do .... in my view, failing to vote is completely unacceptable and you lose any credibility you just may have had
i thoroughly agree with the australian legal requirement to vote .... spot on!

Dreams,
If you read back you will see that I was extremely critical of the labour party and its leadership under Blair.
In 2004-2006+ thought that the financial services and housing market and personal debts associated was becoming crazy.
Thought many of the changes in education were confusing that which was ideological with that which was practical.
=======
Further.
When the Pie and Pint was started in 2004 early 2005, one of the repeated discussion at the pub was the over heating of the housing market and poor government overview.
The problem was that a large percentage of the public was wallowing in profit and the last thing acceptable by the tories and many labour MPS was introduction of restraints.
There was a hell of a lot bleating when it all blew up and "fall guys" were wanted.

I take my first comments back Fred , sorry . I agree the housing market has far from helped. The property prices have in my view still not pulled back enough and no doubt soon start to rise again. So why do governments not allow more housing to supply demand, thus stopping or slowing house inflation. Perhaps the past spending has been fuelled by how easy it was to remorgage a property.I suppose thats the last thing they want
to wreck the housing market.

So with the debt only growing it sadly looks like the bowl will come out for more tax.
National insurance is being talked about now, with perhaps a 3p in the pound rise for the self employed. The country cannot afford the retirement pattern at the moment.
There is going to be huge changes implemented and the goal posts moved as we go along. The kids of today are going to work till they drop, without wealthy parents and grandparents to get them on the property ladder.

Chuckles ....U Turns........ bloody hell man these present tory posh boys have made more U turns in the last budget than any government in power for 5 years.
And you must have missed this from the article........
David Cameron’s policy is to increase Britain’s debt by 60 per cent, more than any European country. To increase it more over five years than Labour did over 13 years. Just yesterday, we learned the national debt had hit £1,111 billion and it’s heading to £1,400 billion.
And by the way before you accuse me of being a left wing loony I have voted tory twice in the past and similar with labour. Floating voter they call it but I cant bring myself to support a party that has all these rich boys on the front benches who lie through their teeth aswel.
Never known a PM who lies and distorts like Cameron does, the man is a born liar.
What the Torys need is to bring Portillo out of retirement Ken Clarke as his side kick and Tarzan acting as an adviser. Then I would be tempted to vote for them at the next election, but at the moment Im afraid its a 60 seat overall victory for labour.

Dreams.
No offence taken.
I think the real precursor to the economic chaos was the "cheap" Japanese loans ploughing into the World Economy prior to the cash.
The money sloshing around and passing through multiple hands with small percentage gains. This trading demonstrated itself in the "housing market". Similar in some ways to the "building" craze of empty buildings blocks during the Heath period.
Any way, difficult to stop a party when the majority and the media are having "fun".
Interesting article

Just been given some inside info from JCP Jobcentre by an ex junior of mine when i worked for the Civil Service.
In them days we did a claimant/jobs count every month and was based as a fraction of 40.
40 being the average number of hours per week worked by an employee.
A part-timer on 20 hours counting as .5 of a unit, a full timer 1 full unit.
Now im informed its 1 unit for 37 hours and 1 unit for 18.5 hours in fact 1 full unit for
any part time work.
No wonder we are being told their are more jobs than their has ever been. Its simply not true, the figures are in effect fiddled with the goal posts having been moved by ID Smith.
Now I can see why their has been a contradiction with output and productivity figures which looked and gave the impression that everybody in work was sat around twiddling their thumbs.
My god what a corrupt government, if they arent fiddling the deficit figures and health spending figures they are now fiddling these figures.
Makes you wonder what other figures are being fiddled!!!
