Hi all

Sorry been absent for a few days - finished moving house now. Get the keys for the renovation tomorrow so will be around a lot less.

Hope all are well - GD sorry to see you handing over the reins but im sure with spaceman it will be in safe hands (ps well done on the award)

Spaceman - 13 Dec 2004 17:04 - 20731 of 23498

Evening all.

Well what a day. Up on the roof for some final tasks before the scaffolding came down, then they took it all down and I saw my house again for the first time in 5 weeks, I had forgotten what it looked like.

Then I was called into an emergency meeting of the Tea Rooms management committee by GD, it seems the poor old dog has been ordered by the vet to get something sorted (he didn't say what but I think it might be in the waterworks department !) and that he wont be able to keep this place going much longer, he was pretty desperate poor thing so I agreed to try and help by taking over the day to day management in the new year. The vet had told GD that he needed the op early Jan but I am not free until later so after consulting the vet GD has be given the all clear to work into January.

As you can imagine this was all a bit of a shock for me but us spacemen are trained to be cool in all situations, I haven't had much time to think about the tea rooms and what to do with it. As far as I can see the place looks after itself pretty well and only occasionally does the management have to step in and take action, for example recently when some prat posted the work 'fucking', what an idiot.

Being a relative newcomer I don't feel its right to change much but for technical reasons we might have to start a new thread.

I am a bit concerned that my sense of humour and my tendency to be an anorak might cause problems but I hope that you will make allowances and let me know when I have overstepped the mark.

I have spoken to Lambykins and he has agreed to do what he can to help, he has suggested a few new rules :-

1) No talking about eating Lamb.
2) No woolly jumpers unless the wool comes from sheep in his family (showing his business sense there)
3) No other Lambs allowed on the management committee.
4) Lemon Drizzle cake to be available at all times.

I haven't made him any promises but at first sight these rules seem pretty sensible to me.

chocolat - 13 Dec 2004 17:07 - 20732 of 23498

Oh 'eck, Spacie - looks like I'll be barred straight off then.

Spaceman - 13 Dec 2004 17:09 - 20733 of 23498

certainly not chocolat, your one of the tea rooms finest customers, the management would have to be mad to ban you !

But what if they are mad ;-)

hilary - 13 Dec 2004 17:10 - 20734 of 23498

Ditto Choccy. I was going to start knitting a poncho for my daughter tonight after I'd eaten my lamb chops.

:o)

Socrates - 13 Dec 2004 17:13 - 20735 of 23498

Oh dear, I come home from days work and it's all change in the cafe. The world has gone mad, really. Lemon drizzle cake everywhere, where's the sherry trifle?

And what about "have you had a carol singer"? I never touched Carol Singer m'lud, she's making it all up.

Chocolat
Just let them try to bar you, I'll smuggle you in under my coat (thinks, that could be fun).

Spaceman - 13 Dec 2004 17:14 - 20736 of 23498

Hils, well he hasnt taken over yet so maybe you could finish them before the end of Jan?.

Anyway rules are made to be broken ;-)

hilary - 13 Dec 2004 17:18 - 20737 of 23498

That's good news, Space. I certainly like to break the rules.

:o)

Spaceman - 13 Dec 2004 17:19 - 20738 of 23498

Socs, You might want to put a motion for a new rule to the committee something like "The management will at all times ensure that the tea rooms has available sufficient quantities of the items listed on the condiments and cake list as approved annually by the food and ethics committee"

chocolat - 13 Dec 2004 17:20 - 20739 of 23498

I'm not sure I'd be wanting Socks to put any motion on the table, Spacie..

chocolat - 13 Dec 2004 17:22 - 20740 of 23498

And how big's your coat, Socks - is there room for any trifle?

Socrates - 13 Dec 2004 17:42 - 20741 of 23498

Chocolat
My coat is big enought to hold not only you and sherry trifle, but the chairs, table and candelabra as well.

Spaceman
I might place a motion like that, if I knew what it meant.

This_is_me - 13 Dec 2004 18:41 - 20742 of 23498

How about widescreen TV for the footie in the new place.

jeffmack - 13 Dec 2004 18:50 - 20743 of 23498

So we can watch Manure get beat

chocolat - 13 Dec 2004 18:55 - 20744 of 23498

Less of that, jeffie

jeffmack - 13 Dec 2004 18:57 - 20745 of 23498

gis a kiss

chocolat - 13 Dec 2004 19:05 - 20746 of 23498

Anywhere in particular?

jeffmack - 13 Dec 2004 19:20 - 20747 of 23498

I have my eyes closed, surprise me

chocolat - 13 Dec 2004 19:31 - 20748 of 23498

No falling over this time then..

Big Al - 13 Dec 2004 20:04 - 20749 of 23498

Evening revellers! ;-)))

Just knocked off for the day so popped by for a small snifter before dinner. Interesting change of ownership coming up. Swap Goldog for Spaceman and Lamby. Hmm.

Better stock that cellar, Tim! ;-)
