* Continue to gamble until all their money has gone
* Borrow money to continue gambling

Good afternoon punters..
The Saturday value bet this week is Zezao Kempton 2-20...I do not like advising 2yo normallybut lack of choice owing to conditions has forced my hand. All Weather ratings can differ dramatically to turf and so races can become far more open than first lookI am going for the selection because he has shown improvement in all his racesthe last run at Ripon has proved particularly good form on soft ground.nearest you can get to the All Weather3/6 btn L to hat trick seeking and unbeaten Desert PhantomThe second horse Tim Easterbys Favourite Girl had previously won a cl 2 very convincingly. The fourth horse was a previous winner and the fifthTalking Headsbtn 10L .came out next time and run Sri Putra to 2L in a group 3 last weekdoesnt it all add up!we will see.The fav. is going to be a tough nut to crack! but priced around 9s Im on!
Take a look at Mumbleswerve in the 3-25.has strong form lines and should have the beating of The Fifth Member[whom I like ] with conditions apprentice allowance blinkers first time etc. too big at 14/1.
I never recommend favs. or short prices and so we will have our fair share of losershopefully the big value winners will keep us in front.
Please use this info to help your own judgement
Good luck

I'm sure you guys and girls are aware of the advantages of a Betting Exchange such as Betfair when 'betting' on the horses, or any other sport for that matter. I can understand placing a bet as a one of, say on the Grand National or a cup final; what I can't understand is why you limit your options by betting on the nose or an E/W bet on a regular basis. You only have one chance, it either wins (or is placed) or you've lost your money. The Betting Exchanges offer you the opportunity to cover your bet to ensure no loss at all and also to win money even if your selection fails to make the frame. I'm not being critical, just curious as to what drives this method of betting when there is a much better way.

mp, I'll try to expalin, but you will probably find better on t'internet.
Betting Exchanges bring together people who have an opposing view on an event and deal directly with each other through the exchange, the old fashioned bookmaker is totally unnecessary. Betafir is the biggest exchange although there are others. The exchanges use decimal odds rather than the 2-1, 3-1 you are perhaps used to, but are easily converted. For example 2.0 is the equivalent to evens. The beauty of the exchanges is that you can bet on an event whilst it's actually happening, including horse racing.
If you open the Betfair website during a race meeting and navigate to one of the races, say 20 minutes before the off you can see the odds on all the nags changing as money moves in and out of the market, this actually also represents a good opportunity to make money even before the off, but I'll leave that aside for the moment. As well as 'backing' a horse to win you can also bet, 'lay' in exchange parlance that a horse will lose.
So, say you want to back the favourite who is trading at 2.0 back odds and 2.02 lay odds (the odds move in certain multiples depending on the odd size). If you stick 10 on and he wins you get back your stake and 10 minus 5% (variable) commission winnings. If he loses you get nothing. But remember you can bet during the race, so if he hits the front, the odds (in running) will come in; let's assume it's a short race and he's in front at the half way stage, the odds will probably have reduced to something like - to back 1.24 to lay 1.25. This would be a good time to 'lay' your bet off. Bet (lay) with your original stake (10) that your selection will not win the race, at lay odds of 1.25 this will cost you 2.50, this means that if your horse wins, you now take away 7.50 instead of 10, but if he fails to win you will lose nothing. The reason this happens is that when you place your first back bet, your card on Betfair will show 10 in a green font by your nag's name, all the other horses will show -10 in red. When you place the second bet you are not only saying your horse will not win, but also saying one of the others will. Your card will now show +7.50 by your horse and 0 by all the others.
In simple terms with the first bet you have bet your horse will win and the others will lose, with the second you have said your horse won't win but one of the others will. The change in odds at which you placed your bets make the money. At the moment you are only guaranteed your 7.50 if the selected horse wins but lose nothing if he doesn't. The next step is to bet once more that your horse doesn't win, effectively you are using some of your 7.50 profit to guarantee a win. You won't have the time to get a calculator out to work this one, so take a quick guess (there are programmes available like BetAngel Pro to do this automatically). In this instance lay 6 that your horse won't win at odds of 1.25, this will cost you a further 1.50 of your profit leaving you with 6, but you have bet that one of the other horses will win, also at 6. You now have what is known as 'all green' and no matter which horse wins the race, you will win 6!!
I wouldn't be surprised if I haven't explained that very well and it perhaps sounds complicated, but once you get your head around the idea it really is quite straightforward.
You may ask what happens if your nag doesn't hit the front and struggles? You can do one of two things, either hope he comes through and run the risk of losing your 10, or trade out as soon as you can as the odds drift (lengthen). if you traded out by laying at odds of 3.0 the net result would be a possible loss of 5, thus saving half your original bet, but only if he then went onto win, if he lost you wouldn't lose anything.
Hope that helps, could do with some screenshots really, but beyond my connection whilst I'm away from home.
