RTD - Why? (RTD)

Nitefly - 15 Sep 2003 10:55

Why are we again at 10.5p bid?

It doesn't add up...

Good Results + Strong buying pre results + Christmas online buying soon = Price drop

Then again some companies that have debt for equity hanging in the balance, poor results and bankruptcy around the corner and they go up!

Why sell now at a loss?

Wont that be a kick in the teeth when we see 13.5p 14p again!

Best of luck all.

Nice start to the week

Chip and Pin cards winning acceptance
This is Money,
7 February 2005
BRITISH banks are set to claim victory in their battle to get the general public used to new Chip and Pin cards after a survey revealed widespread satisfaction with them.

The new Chip and Pin bank cards are aimed at tackling the cost of card fraud in the UK. Some 424m of fraud was committed on UK cards in 2002. Banks believe that without the new technology losses to fraud could have reached 800m this year.

But despite the banks' view, almost one-third of users question whether it will crack the fraud problem for good. New research out today shows that some 65% of UK consumers have now used the new cards and 83% who have done so described the experience as 'positive'. But nearly a quarter said they struggled to remember their personal identification number.

And although 84% of people said they understood why the new technology was introduced, only 69% said they believed it would work in the fight against card crime.

Carl Clump, chief executive of Retail Decisions, which specialises in card fraud prevention and payment processing, admitted that Chip and Pin was just part of the overall anti-fraud picture. He warned that it was still important to monitor internet, mail order and telephone card transactions.

Clump added: 'In the long-term, fraudsters will find a way around the system as fraud is an ever-changing threat.'

Chip and Pin cards came into force on 1 January and require shoppers to type in their personal number rather than just writing their signature. According to Retail Decisions only 34% of users had had all their cards replaced with chip and Pin.

Initial fears that retailers would refuse to accept non-Chip and Pin cards from shoppers have proved misguided. Some visually-impaired customers have told This is Money of problems they've experienced in getting chip and signature cards. But, for the most part, the banks say the experience for disabled customers has been positive.

No posts today folks ?

RTD will hit the TM100 at 8:00am tomorrow morning and we'll probably get an RNS just to let folks know who didn't already.

All depends on the MM's, though could well be a blue day...

Fundamentalist - 09 Feb 2005 07:56 - 2090 of 2406

OG

normally you dont get an RNS fo this - the last 5 entrants havent had one - i think the FTSE announcement last week is all you get. Wouldnt be surprised to see some games if the MMs need to get shares for the institutions (if they havent bought already)

dell555 - 10 Feb 2005 15:33 - 2091 of 2406

waiting for next bottom

pachandl - 10 Feb 2005 15:53 - 2092 of 2406

dell - that sounds a bit cheeky. I think that basic TA suggests 34p.

Fred1new - 11 Feb 2005 12:30 - 2093 of 2406

Mornin ALL

morninFred lol

:o)))

pachandl - 14 Feb 2005 10:31 - 2101 of 2406

Strange to see the price move 1.25p when there is relatively little volume. Is there a secret buyer or are MMs simply trapping the unwary retail investor in the run up to results?

Fundamentalist - 14 Feb 2005 11:58 - 2102 of 2406

900K O trade appears to be a sell - could they be filling a buy order hence the rise??? Be nice to see a large T trade later
