rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

really?
suggest re-check as currently 7017 and only +5 after hours
markets are assuredly in very uncertain mood at the moment

surprised there's no thread on here for this one, not least because as the chart shows, it has been a phenomenal performer
however one does need to wonder whether their profits are going to take a nasty bashing as the collapsing £ takes its toll

The FTSE rally is a product of currency devaluation, not an improving economy – it is an optical illusion.

FTSE seen lower after Wall St, Asia falls
London equities are seen opening cautiously lower, following on from lower overnight sessions in Asia and on Wall St.

Best long it then.

monday could be a bit jittery as DOW closed below an important resistance/support of 18,150
more generally
it has been suggested that it's far from impossible that we'll see a collapse in the markets before too long
there are a number of things that could precipitate this - eg continuing weakness of the chinese economy, us presidential elections, brexit uncertainty, £ collapse that will not only affect uk imports but also holidays abroad with knock-on effects in european countries that rely heavily on the tourist trade
on the other hand, trump looks increasingly unlikely to become president (so we get the least worst instead!) which will please the us markets, crude continues to tick upwards and both brexit uncertainty and £ will inevitably calm down
so where does one put one's money?
to my mind, in stocks that have high overseas earnings such as tobacco stocks, us quality such as AMZN, quality indian trust funds (that domestic economy is thriving), and some judicious oilies
to avoid must surely be airlines and travel-related stocks, uk hotel groups being the honourable exception (WTB and perhaps IHG)

Bull Market intact in US. The new unknown is Putins rhetoric. I would like to get involved in Amazon but at over $800 a share it makes it a bit difficult unless using Margin account.

the bubble has finally burst, at least for now :-))
Dax now 10,550 and falling
perhaps a little early to call this is a significant break south, but if it proves to be so, then next significant support may as low as 10,250

quite possibly .... watch to see how S&P and Dow close tonight

S&P struggled back above the important 2108 level before the close .... not yet all doom and gloom
