Follwoing today's rise it can clearly be seen that the SP has failed (for now) to penetrate the long term downtrend; it had a go but stumbled. What is also obvious is the decreasing volumes sustaining the latest rise; makes me somewhat suspicious that a breakout is not possible in the short term.

Even if it does get through I would expect a pull back to this resistance (where it will become support) so anyone brave enough to initiate a short position may have a get out claus (get it?). :))

Yep took a hit today PT and cyners but not closing.

The volume was nothing and was just the late xmas rally.

Will fall just as quickly as it went up.

you may be right, but Wall Street boomed and First Solar, already a star performer, put on another 4/5% ..... not exactly the same line, but certainly the same sector - be careful

shame one can't do much sensible on MAM with US stocks ...... this really is a cracker and i recommened anyone who has an interest in this sector to have a very good look at this one, albeit that is a serious heavyweight - currently $272.00.

have not bought yet as was hoping for a couple of weak days for the stock, but just not happening pro tem

Clearing the congestion zone now and heading back to the highs. Growth in China looks likely to slip in 2008 but will still be a driving force compared to the rest of the world.

sp now looking very healthy indeed with very good upward momentum.
not sure what will happen with world economies over the next year, but as i so often stress, the only important thing in share dealing is correctly calling whether a specific share will head north or south, the fundamentals often taking a poor second or even third place

Think it's also getting pulled up by Jetion following big director buys. Agreed, more important to follow what's in vogue.

have reflected on this, and if one accepts that the sector is the right one to be in, then i think PVCS is a better bet than SOLA ..... the latter scares me anyway, as i have a natural and well-publicised aversion to chinese controlled companies, and with good reason

I have a larger holding in PVCS than here, they have since announced too that trading is materially better than predicted.

Dont often disagree with you cyners but cannot agree with this statement you made a couple of days ago as its news on fundies that more often or not that dictates the sp direction of a stock, and its the underlying value of a company in the long term which is either manipulated one way or the other to achieve a market balance. ......
