RTD - Why? (RTD)

Nitefly - 15 Sep 2003 10:55

Why are we again at 10.5p bid?

It doesn't add up...

Good Results + Strong buying pre results + Christmas online buying soon = Price drop

Then again some companies that have debt for equity hanging in the balance, poor results and bankruptcy around the corner and they go up!

Why sell now at a loss?

Wont that be a kick in the teeth when we see 13.5p 14p again!

Best of luck all.

eBay piles up the cash
By Drew Cullen

eBay has had a barnstorming Q3 with net income up 69 per cent year on year to $103.3 million on sales up 84 per cent to 530.9 million,

The US e-tailer-cum-fraudster's paradise reports strong sales overseas, especially in Germany, the UK and South Korea. And it's gung-ho about prospects for the holiday season - you can even buy eBay gift certificates now.

eBay is sitting on a $2.6bn mountain of cash. Surely, it's time to start paying dividends. After all, the company can't sustain growth at this rate for forever, can it? But from the noises that CFO Rajiv Dutta is making, the company looks like it has some other things in mind. In a conference call, he said the company is considering acquisitions.

"We have enormous potential," he said. "We were struck by the number of extremely attractive opportunities that lie ahead."

4th quater resulst for ebay do not appear to be as good as last year. There was something in the FT day before yesterday. Sorry threw the paper out. Anybody enlarge.

petralva - 18 Oct 2003 20:39 - 213 of 2406

i think analysts were expecting somewhat higher profits, but were also concerned that they cannot keep up this forever!

dalrymp - 19 Oct 2003 20:06 - 214 of 2406

Good luck to all for next week...lets hope it's a good one for RTD!

guysands - 20 Oct 2003 12:55 - 215 of 2406

Ahhhh!

Help! Anyone out there a previous Nothing Ventured user? They've sold out to Fastrade and we've all been moved over to that site.

What a mess - this Fastrade site is crap. I'm so pissed off I can hardly type this message. NV was such a brilliant trading tool and now we've got this. What the hell are they playing at. Couldn't those numbskulls at Charles Stanley see that the NV site was much superior to there own and use that instead and just stick their Fastrade badge onto it.

Any ex-NV users please let me know what your thoughts are today.

I have started a new thread to discuss the NV/Fastrade issue.

Please post your comments there as I intend to email them all to Fastrade to let them know how dissatisfied we are. This is the link:

or search under the epic code of NV.

The title of the thread is Nothing Ventured vs Fastrade.

Many thanks.

Guy

There does seem to be a few big trades going in on this stock. Having closely monitored the trading in this stock I am now begining to believe that manipulation of this stock has been going on as mentioned in previous articles here. Very clever. Thanks to all for filling a gap in my education.

blakester - 20 Oct 2003 17:20 - 217 of 2406

A solid round of buying today, something coming in perhaps....?

Nitefly - 20 Oct 2003 17:52 - 218 of 2406

With all this positive feeling and buying, a mirror image of ZOO or MMD, is surely, only around the corner.

Good luck all!

scotinvestor - 20 Oct 2003 19:32 - 219 of 2406

I agree Nitefly

Also, looking at the chart, it looks as though RTD should rocket skyward very soon to 20p and beyond. Just one little bit of news will send it.

Anyway as long as everyone holds on until Dec/Jan, I'm sure they will be rewarded. Just need to be patient on quiet days like today.

Nitefly - 20 Oct 2003 22:13 - 220 of 2406

Absolutely :)

From the article posted by Guy (guysands), you can really see why it shoots up on news and no news. Until the day that the MM's execute their plan or RTD post their own news then this will remain as is, I should imagine (only in my opinion!). Even long/large buying spree's make very little difference when they really should do.

I do believe ZOO and MMD will be hiked down again though, because, once the MM's have sold their shares (i.e. We have bought them all) and got a very good price for them, then there is no other reason for the MM to run the risk of buying shares from the clever traders that also try and sell their shares at the same time while ripping the one's that think it will go higher, off (which is really should go higher, given a fair chance).

It is silly really because this is not the way it's supposed to work. If a company is running economically and making money it should have every chance at gaining strength. Instead the MM's shaft the company and all the traders to line their pockets because they can :/

As already said, this is only my opinion!

Good luck to all!

overgrowth - 20 Oct 2003 23:45 - 221 of 2406

Nitefly,

I like your equation:

Good Results + Strong buying pre results + Christmas online buying soon = Price drop

I think we can probably remove "Strong buying pre results" as the bulk of these were short term traders looking for a quick buck - it's the classic "buy on the rumour sell on the fact" tactic.

So, that gives us:

Good Results + Christmas online buying soon = Price Drop

RTD have had a lot of bad press in the past and I believe that a lot of investors are holding back to ensure that these results were not just a flash in the pan. When will they know? Either when news of a significant contract is announced or another upbeat trading statement is made. Christmas on-line buying will help but we won't know the figures on this until after Christmas.

This leaves us in Jan/Feb with:

Good Results + New Contract + On-line buying very strong = Exponential price rise for RTD !

Good luck to all.

Nitefly - 21 Oct 2003 10:13 - 222 of 2406

The ZOO cookie crumbles, until the next rise to get traders in.

Good luck all!

nematode - 21 Oct 2003 11:55 - 223 of 2406

I like RTD,the potential is huge with the list of their clients they've got,see their website! With christmas looming and any further contract news, who knows, there might be a good rise beyond 13.5p we saw recently.

scotinvestor - 21 Oct 2003 15:22 - 224 of 2406

and the rest, nematode

debuwebu - 21 Oct 2003 15:45 - 225 of 2406

what sort of rise are we realistically looking at around January time?
any guesses? Why?

nematode - 21 Oct 2003 20:05 - 226 of 2406

The rest well if you go on retail decisions website, you will see all the recent contracts announced.Obviously it's upto you as the investor to make your own mind up but when there are billions of "not present card" transactions then this speaks volumes for the kind of business rtd is in.Now I'm not saying RTD will go to 3 pound plus but 10p is also a ludicrous valuation.

blakester - 22 Oct 2003 12:24 - 227 of 2406

I know this stock is expected to boom soon and the general thought is that she's a sleeping giant ready to pop but is anybody with me in this investment
is a little like watching paint dry?

nematode - 22 Oct 2003 12:49 - 228 of 2406

I'm with you fellow but at the moment in the absence of any news what can one say except stay tight. When this share leaps it will leap.

nematode - 22 Oct 2003 13:07 - 229 of 2406

They have signed Chase, oil is up and Aus$ is very strong. That makes for good figures when the results are released. Until then, nothing to do but twiddle the ear hairs waiting for something, anything, to happen.

jfletendre - 22 Oct 2003 14:42 - 230 of 2406

Blakester - yep, I'm with you - 130,000 shares worth - like watching paint dry but not as exciting...
