Planestation (Ex Wiggins Group plc) (PTG)

Socrates - 10 Jan 2004 10:34

Time now for all us Wiggins watchers to move with the times and start using Planestation, the new company identity. The name Wiggins Group plc has now disappeared from the database at Companies House and Planestation is now listed on the LSE website.

So fellow travellers, forget Wiggins, the name of the game is now PLANESTATION. Lets hope it goes like an express train.

SRA 22nd December 2003
Green Light for High Speed Services for Kent - Four Bidders Selected for new Kent Franchise

The Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) today confirmed that it was proceeding with its plans for domestic services on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) as part of the new Integrated Kent Franchise (IKF), and to place an order for a fleet of new trains to operate these services.

The Authority also announced today that four bidders have been selected to compete for the new Integrated Kent Franchise, which will provide services to Kent, South East London and parts of Sussex from early 2005.

The four selected bidders are:

DSB (Danish State Railways)

GNER Holdings Ltd

First Kent Integrated Railways Ltd (FirstGroup plc)

London South Eastern Railway Ltd (consortium of Go-Ahead Group and Keolis)

All four will be sent an initial Invitation to Tender for the new franchise shortly. A final tender document will be issued in the Summer of 2004 following a consultation on the proposed service specification. The document will request bids for operating services on the existing network with the addition of domestic services on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link from 2007.

Nicola Shaw, SRA's Managing Director, Operations said:

"The selection of bidders is the next step towards a new private operator for the franchise. Robust competition between the four bidders will ensure that the best operator is chosen. The inclusion of domestic services on the CTRL will bring major benefits for passengers with new trains and faster journey times."

Notes to Editors

In December 2003, the SRA received the Secretary of State's approval to progress with plans to include domestic services on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) as part of the Integrated Kent Franchise (IKF).

The SRA will continue the process for ordering trains to operate the domestic services.

The Integrated Kent Franchise will include routes on the national rail network currently operated by South Eastern Trains throughout Kent, parts of Sussex and South East London, and the new CTRL services.

In October 2003, the SRA undertook a consultation on the principle of an Integrated Kent Franchise and a further consultation will be held in early 2004 on the service specification for the new franchise.

In November 2003, the operation of services on the South East network transferred from Connex to South Eastern Trains, acting on behalf of the SRA. Once the IKF competition is complete, South Eastern Trains will hand over operations to the successful bidder for the Integrated Kent Franchise.

The SRA also made announcements today on: the Thames Trains Franchise and the Preferred Bidder for the Greater Anglia Franchise.

Some profit taking early this afternoon and then a good rally after that. Chartists are saying that there is resistance at 5.5-ish, but once it's through that it could really go.

Agreed. Getting rid of the overhang - once that has been trounced then up she goes.

Taken from the Thanet Times(today)

AIRPORT BOOM COULD SEE HOUSE PRICES SOAR.

A new American-style commuter airline has been launched which could see house prices soar.
hop Airways will fly between regional airports and is expected to start flights in July using a fleet of ATR-72 turboprops.
The new airline has not yet announced where it will be based and has been in talks with regional airports to finalize its short hop routes.
With flights costing from 4.99 to 80, and a third of one-way fares less than 10, estate agents are forecasting a property boom in areas served by the bargain routes.
D. Cooke from thanet estate agents Cooke & co, said poor transport links have always affected local house prices. 'The property market is suffering because thanet is so inaccessible by rail' he said.
It causes major problems, two hours to London is not good enough.
'If Manston does internal flights to say Manchester, London or one of a number of the smaller airports, it is going to make a difference to house prices because people can almost commute by plane. Or if they have a holiday home in thanet, instead of having to drive, they can fly down.
'Anything like that for Manston is fabulous, especially for companies such as Pfizer,
Manston could be a key airport' he said.
A Hop spokesman said 'hop has been in discussion with a number of airports across the UK. We will be confirming routes in due course'
Manston airport spokesman said for reasons of commercial confidence he would not reveal whether Manston was among Hops domestic routes.

Well the price eased back a bit at the end of the day, not surprising after such a good run.

A big short term trader sold 3Million, I'm glad he's gone.

The good newsflow will keep us going in stages but I'm in profit by quite a bit already.

DUPLEX - 02 Mar 2004 19:21 - 224 of 1086

its all positive stuff..

Scottie - 02 Mar 2004 20:29 - 225 of 1086

Predictable day today after Friday and Monday being so good, and the market generally was going nowhere with a lot of shares being marked down. This type of share will always attract short term traders, but I see a great future for this one, sitting on a nice profit already and I'm going to stay with it.

PlaneStation Takes Off
Shares Magazine

Manston Airport, owned by PlaneStation Group (PTG), could become Kent’s answer to Stanstead.

The company, formerly known as Wiggins Group, has signed a deal with Irish airline EUjet allowing it to establish a European hub at Manston. The airline begins flights from Manston in June.

EUjet is run by PJ McGoldrick, former chief executive of Ryanair, who negotiated Ryanair’s deal with Stansted.

Flights will service business and holiday destinations including Zurich, Amsterdam and Alicante.

PlaneStation shares rose 15% to 5.46p on the news. ‘In the next three years we’ll have a spectacular airport at Manston’, says PlaneStation chief executive Oliver Iny. ‘We’ll soon have a train line from Manston into St Pancras [opening August 2007], where the channel tunnel rail link will start.’

Iny is confident demand exists. ‘If you live in the south of London, getting to a London airport is a nightmare,’ he says.

EUjet forecasts 300,000 passengers, during the first year of operation, rising to two million by the third year.

Iny, who is investing 8 million in expanding the airport, claims further deals are in the offering. ‘We’re talking to several more EUjets and cargo operators,’ he says. ‘We’re getting a huge amount of interest.’

Shares says: PlaneStation is taking off

Thank you for that G12. I really feel that it is such an obvious choice for airlines to consider as the slots must be at a reasonable price at the moment.
Lets hope it does fly "Skyhigh"

A lot of buying again today, hardly any sells, due for a price tick up soon?

skyhigh - 05 Mar 2004 14:23 - 230 of 1086

Scottie,
You'd think so wouldn't you ? However, nothing usually follows any logic.
I'd be surprised if we saw any PTG rise as it's a bad day in the markets. US jobs data, just released, was not good. Most small cap stocks having a bad time.

Time to pack up for the weekend and hope next week is better all round !

Magisteve - 05 Mar 2004 17:07 - 231 of 1086

The fireworks begin on Monday then.
We can expect to see a serious rise.
