Alan.
Yes I believe a 30% stake requires a declaration which is why you often see 29.9% as a holding.

Part of HW's background from the RNS of 8 June 2005 :-

"Howard White began his career in 1973. From 1982 to 1993, Howard set up a
successful business buying distressed businesses, .... orchestrating their turnaround into a profitable Group of businesses."

and selling them!

hewittalan6 - 11 Oct 2006 11:16 - 21242 of 27111

Your reseach is better than mine, Tony. i was still looking.
The question now is.........any mathematicians out there who can work out what A of R would need to do to get there and any market types who can tell us whether they would have to RNS the fact they were buying any extra in the firm placing?
thanks,
Alan

antofelli - 11 Oct 2006 11:18 - 21243 of 27111

Alan,
someone has worked out that after all the payments/investments stated in the last RNS will be left about 7mil. So far Stanelco has always raised money ENOUGH only to meet the payments wich are due in the very near future. ... Ok that has probably been the biggest mistake ever, but why change policy when the SP is AT THE VERY BOTTOM when you are sure that any news about contract will only make the price to soar....

hewittalan6 - 11 Oct 2006 11:22 - 21244 of 27111

Probably because they are drinking in the last chance saloon, anto!!!

antofelli - 11 Oct 2006 11:26 - 21245 of 27111

ahah... hope all the shareholders can drink soon to celebrate some big contracts coming ...

alfalfa - 11 Oct 2006 11:32 - 21246 of 27111

anto - presumably you mean significant news !

Times Rumour.

Sphere will make an offer for Stanelco once financing is in place!
--------------------
Has anyone read about this in the times. I have been looking in 'timesonline' but no luck.

antofelli - 11 Oct 2006 11:38 - 21248 of 27111

oh yes, let`s wait and see. I believe this must be the very last chance.

shamona - 11 Oct 2006 12:37 - 21249 of 27111

Anyone still holding or planning on taking up the placing needs there head examined, this is going bust.

antofelli - 11 Oct 2006 12:37 - 21250 of 27111

8 mil. trade is a buy or sell?

WOODIE - 11 Oct 2006 12:44 - 21251 of 27111

shamona when will it go bust?

alfalfa - 11 Oct 2006 13:22 - 21252 of 27111

Have just been notified by Hargreaves Lansdown about the offer and that they will be writing with more details shortly.

Curiously (and it may be in error), they state that holders as at close of business on Monday 9th October are entitled to take part.

As we know, the Record Date is set at 6th October.

antofelli - 11 Oct 2006 13:40 - 21254 of 27111

First one to jump on board, ... next one please
Could we regret the issue of that big amount of shares? hope no, but it could really facilitate a take over of the company.

HD2005 - 11 Oct 2006 13:43 - 21255 of 27111

0.01 pence??? Am I missing something here?

StarFrog - 11 Oct 2006 13:46 - 21256 of 27111

Yes, a decimal point.

HD2005 - 11 Oct 2006 13:50 - 21257 of 27111

Sorry bit of a typo there but what I was getting at is this announcement seems to be over a total outlay of just over 30k. If it means 1% of a penny!

Maybe it's been too long a day already!

alfalfa - 11 Oct 2006 13:51 - 21258 of 27111

Worry not, HD. That's simply the nominal value of each share and not its market price.

I have clarified with HL and the eligibility date to take part in the Open Offer is definitely close of business on Monday 9th October {edited for my error stating 10th - it is the 9th !}.

Apparently, the Record Date is for the benefit of the Registrars who will notify anyone who was a holder on that date, i.e. Friday 6th October.

Thus, if you became a new holder on Monday (and still held them by business close on Monday), you will need to contact your broker/registrar if you wish to take place in the offer.

Alfa.

HD2005 - 11 Oct 2006 13:53 - 21259 of 27111

Thanks alfalfa.

kimoldfield - 11 Oct 2006 14:04 - 21260 of 27111

I think the RNS has a typo and should refer to Calyon not Caylon. The Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank have an interest in sustainablility but I do not know why they are involved at this stage with SEO.
