Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Yes it is - historically you could have stewed eels with the sauce or jellied eels.
On edit - one of my son-in-laws eats it with gravy - I have pointed out that this makes him a philistine - but to no avail!!!

DC - nearly all of the one's that I knew were white tiled with marble tables and wooden bench seats.
Goddards in Greenwich, is now 'trendy' and has green tiles!
As a boy, I used to frequent Manzes or Arments - both had a few shops mainly in South London - I've no idea how many are left these days.
The liquor doesn't really taste of much - to my mind, its more of a vehicle to aid eating the pie + mash.
Best with chilli vinegar which is on every table.

connected but different .... i was in waitrose and purely out of idle curiosity, i lookd at the creme fraiche ..... surely just cream + some acidity to create ..... hahaha! .....
the natural french one was effectively just that
waitrose (essential line) - pasteurised milk, pasteurised cream, pectin, stabiliser, emulsifier and a couple of e numbers for good measure .... no bullshit!
