Another run of the mill day for SEO.
As the SP rises we see some new ideas from SEO. Some of the rumours put on the board today include;
Kims post 21315 suggesting SEO are about to remake "The French Connection". The role of Popeye Doyle will be taken by Martin Wagner, but the famous car chase will be done in golf buggies to maintain the environmentally friendly stance of the company.
CNN made a report that SEO were exploring the packaging of new agers. If this gets the buggers down from trees where I'm trying to build a road then thats fine by me.
SEO launched a new product today. Biodegradable doorstops, cunningly disguised as prospectus. Made entirely from paper and recycled promises, they will break down very quickly. They will be taken to court though over their use of the slogan "soft, strong and very, very long".
Finally there is a rumour that R&D are working on something called "post dilution". This is a way of making millions of fence posts froma single concentrated tree by adding water.
We learned that CFD's are not a cup of tea, but a financial instrument, for losing money very quickly.
We learned much about our contributors to this hallowed thread.
Following yesterdays Napoleon complex over the French stuff, many posters showed their own particular complex.
Stockdog is auditioning for the part of Baldrick. Oblo fancies himself as Nostradamus, with his return to his predictions of a week ago. Meanwhile Ghengis has had enough of being so distant to our memories, he has modernised and started being Churchill (our darkest hour). Driver has told us he cannot be bothered wotking (much) but has pledged a fiver to the shareholders benevolent fund.
Oily has suggested that SPhere will be interested if SEO can get their USA stuff off the ground. Martin Wagner has read this and has instructed Howard White to try and contact wilbur and Orville wright. The R&D dept. are seeking a patent on biodegradable aircraft.
Finally Shares mag. has changed its stance on SEO again. Its been In, Out, In ,Out and is now recomending "shake it all about". They will perform it live at the EGM.
Finally, I have proven beyond doubt that 117% of posters on these boards do not understand percentages.
God alone knows what tomorrow may bring.

You're wasted in financial services!
Perhaps you could become David Cameron's spin doctor when he gets to Downing Street. After he mauled Blair during PMQs in the House yesterday with (good) humour, he will need some body who is a little off the rails.
Hang about, maybe SEO will need a spin doctor in the future, but one with a difference. He should have the unique skill of being able to tell the truth!

Still in, topped up nicely for my holdings in the last few weeks and the 3 for 5 will take my average down to 4.5p.
Not overly impressed by what I read in the prospectus, a lot of unanswered questions regarding SPhere, Greenseal going even slower and interestingly for me(as I think its a dead duck) the fact that it says they are still trying produce suitable sample fag filters. This does not suggest that they are going to be ready for the next series of Drgons Den.
Also, they have all these "fabulous" products that they have been unable to bring to market yet continue to spend a ridiculous amount on R&D. That should be stopped until Greenseal and Starpol start earning enough to cover it.

There are some amazing posts on this thread re potential future valuations of SEO. Just because it's valued at X now and is raising Y doesn't mean that, immediately, the company will be worth X+Y. Investors don't value just cash, but the company's ability to invest this cash to produce revenue and profit.
All this talk about averaging down, and this this somehow will result in substantial gains, is largely wishful thinking on the part of private investors.
Investors need to be realistic about the risks. It's worth bearing in mind that people believe what they want to believe.

For the sake of balance, it is also worth bearing in mind that the SP hit 25X its current level on rumours of a Greenseal roll out at Asda and the possible interest of WM and Perseco.
Now we know Asda roll out is trying to happen, albeit slower than expected, WM are interested, as are Perseco, and the real cash cow of Starpol is what the fundraising is for (allegedly). "the first two" JV's.
I am not saying for one moment that as these things happen then the SP will return to push 30p, because it will not, the company has suffered too much dilution since, and a lack of faith in the management, but it would rise substantially.
So there is the gamble, and averaging down (without realising it on my part), is a justifiable strategy and may be a winning one.
Each to make their own choice of course.

One other small point to bear in mind while coming to your own decision is that prior to our knowledge of the 0.8p placing, 11.5 million was pledged by persons or institutions unknown. That was not done on the basis of a 212 page prospectus. It must have been done on the basis of SEO offering them the chance to buy and giving them good reason to.
If people who have spoken directly to the management and seen what is happening are prepared to part with that sort of brass at 0.8p, we should be wondering what gives them the confidence that many on here lack???

The averaging down, by taking up the offer (3 for 5) makes sense mainly because the offer shares at the present price are at a discount, so even for allowing for dilution, it is still a better deal than averaging down via the open market.
Note, that I said a better deal, not a no brainer. If SEO did sink, it does not make much difference, more cash invested means more cash lost, however you do it.
Alan,
Re your above post...What would we give for a peak at those LOI. ( Please don't suggest half of my turnip).

Mail arrived. Still no Prospectus despite two SEO 'own name' holders at this address.
Have other shareholders received theirs?

greekman,
funnily enough, those letters of intent are less interesting to me than to grab Mr Wagner by the lapels and scream in his ear until he tells me exactly what he means by "at least the first 2" when it comes to JV's.
Firstly, bring it on if their are more than the 2 that have signed L of I, and secondly, how the hell are they going to pay for them. Has anyone thought that bit through?
Just give me 10 minutes rifling through the locked filing cabinets in Southampton. thats all I ask.

Had a very late night and have only just got up, feeling pretty rough and gloomy, but having read Alan's post 21383 I feel 111% again (I know how to work percentages). Another classic Alan; looking forward to the next. Maybe an opera along the lines of Richard Wagner's 'Ring' cycle? You could have Martin Wagner blowing smoke rings through biodegradable filters, millions of which will be made from 1 recycled prospectus: and how about the 'Riders of the Storm' charging through the smoke to 'The Ride of the Valkyries'?

I'm frankly surprised now at the optimism. I've looked at the Patent situation in a little more depth and I'm not convinced. I know I upset some people about
18 months ago when I raised the subject but I wasn't convinced then that IP was good and I'm still concerned. Some of you will know my professional background.
Apologies if my detailed post upsets any of you again, but I think it is time the subject was at least raised and debated especially as many of you are putting even more money into this company and any long term success relies totally on the Patent Protection.
This is my assessment of the Patent situation, based on details in the prospectus. As usual, DYOR.
Firstly Stanelco's (including Aquasol's) Patents.
information taken from 4.5, Discussion of individual Patent Familes.
Frogpack 4.5.9 Blanks for Containers (Quad Frog)
The patents are all pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
Greenseal
4.5.13 Food Packaging - patent application is pending;examination has
not been requested.Quote from prospectus 'The claims in their present form are not likely to be valid.'
4.5.14 Sealing Stanelco Trays - The patents are all pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
4.5.15 Dielectric Foam Barrier - The patents are all pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
4.5.17 Telescopic RF Connector - The patents are all pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
4.5.18 Thin-flanged Trays - abandoned, and a new UK patent application has been filed. No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
4.5.19 Electrodes with Polymer Cladding - The patents are all pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
4.5.20 Matching Network with Linear Motors - The patent is pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
4.5.21 Deformable Welding Electrode - The patent is pending, nothing granted - No guarantee that SEO will end up with any exclusive rights.
So there we have it - no granted Patents relating to Greenseal of Frogpack. No guarantee that SEO will end up with exclusive rights to the technology. If Greenseal ever took off, as things stand there is no protection to stop anyone producing and using Greenseal technology. Thats not to say that the patents wont all go to grant and everything will be hunky dory. But that has not happened to date.
The Biotec Patents schedule in the prospectus is pretty incomplete informationwise! For example - HU0211429B and HU0068437A2 PROCESS FOR
PRODUCING OF POLYMER MIXTURE AND SHAPED BODY. Why no details? Is it in force? Dozens of others with no indication as to whether they are granted, pending or expired. They could have included an up to date detailed schedule for a small cost - why haven't they? Which are the key Starpol patents, and what is their status? Are they the highlighted details in the schedule? - thats what we need to know but the information is hidden! Why?
Many of these patents are fairly ancient and do not have a lot of life left in them (20 years max life for a patent - some date from 1989, many from early 90's). So, 3 or 4 years left and most of us say we're in for the long term. Is that long term?
I would have thought the prospectus could have been much clearer in telling us what patents relate to Starpol and what their status is.
I will have to do more research before I can tell what, if any, protection is in place.
Hope this is useful to some. I'm coming round to thinking that there are too many questions unanswered for me to confidently sink more money into SEO.
P.S. Can any one tell me what has happended to the contract which was in the final stages some 6 weeks ago, and the LOI's?

Todays IC comment on open offer"The proceeds from the fundraisingwill help SEO exploit the commercial potential of its intellectual property portfolio .However, the shares have proved a disastrous investment .IGNORE."So it looks worth taking up then.

I agree that Starpol 3000 approval may be a key factor to certain US deals: if it does not receive approval, what little credibility SEO have left will be gone.

'Morning all
Just a reminder, my research on the 15th August revealed that the FDA approval for Starpol 3000 then, was due in 12-16 weeks, which now means that it is 3.5 - 7.5 weeks away.
I would suspect that if they are planning to invest in at least two manufacturing plants in the US at least one will be for Starpol 3000. Don't forget that Wal-Mart are testing Starpol 3000 at present in anticipation of approval for it being granted.
Another point, which some on here are overlooking, is that if the manufacturing plants are a success, then the market is going to grow exponentially with all the resulting effect on the share price.
Having said that, I do take notice of Oblomov's post 21395 above and realise that the future is not totally guaranteed and assured. Nothing in life is! We cannot even be sure of the sun rising tomorrow, anymore!!
