I don't agree that 420 is a key level. Looking at my last chart the old original downtrend res has been broken (might have provided support, but didn't) and is now heading for the uptrend support at roughly 400. This is the real key level.

Sola had tracked the market over last four days, until today when it seems to have fallen of a cliff. I wonder if doubt's are creeping in about it's ability to secure $200m fundind in the US.

well done GF though arguably quite a brave short at the time ..... suggest placing stops to ensure you keep a profit

High-growth stocks, particularly in the alternative energy sector, fell as investors shunned risk in favour of defensive stocks.
German solar panel maker Q-Cells , which soared 186 per cent in 2007, dropped 18 per cent to 66.44. On Tuesday SociGale downgraded the stock to "sell" and reduced its target price to 66 from 98.
SocGen also cut its rating on rival SolarWorld to "sell" and lowered its price target to 29 from 45. SolarWorld fell 17.7 per cent to 28.95. Norwegian solar panel maker Renewable Energy lost 21.8 per cent to NKr159 yesterday, taking its weekly losses to 27.2 per cent.

When I checked earlier and saw FTSE fall 150 point's, I assumed that volume would be high with some panic selling. But no most companies have had even trading, with a few seeing double buying to selling.
SOLA is interesting with double sells to buys, this is becoming more tempting for a short now, not quite there yet. Down to 402 this morning, it will be interesting to see if the 400p support holds. As posted by PTH.

Gone through the 400p support spitfire, I wonder if PTH meant it had to hold below 400p for 2 days in a row to drop even further.
Pth are you out there?. Your TA analysis appreciated here.

I was looking for a bounce back over 400p tomorrow maybe, with FTSE 280 down everything is being hit.
But PTH analysis would be welcome.

looks like a lot of solar companys being hit hard SF. Always felt there was too much froth on top of them compared to EPS.
Will be interesting to see how the DOW fairs this afternoon.
good luck mate.

The SP at 394p is sat bang on on the trendline support, in fact you could argue that it has broken down but is probably too close to call. In favour of the short tack, the RSI support IS broken which would indicate further to fall, however as spitfire points out today is clearly not a good day for the markets and possibly a bounce expected tomorrow if we see an overall recovery. I certainly wouldn't open a new short position here, but if already short set a trailing stop to lock in any profit.

I will go short but will wait for a bounce first.

If it bounces off this trendline it may well continue to bounce, although there is downtrend resistance at about 450 (from memory), could be the place to short if it turns back there. Seems there's a chance it will be trapped between sup and res, have to rely on indicators and volume then to hazard a guess which way to go.

This one is heading for 3 solar companies are being downgraded in the US and europe. Not much point in buying solar panels if there isn't any sun!!

i shorted this morning, as much as a tiny mitigating hedge against any other disaster, though i also agree with GF that sp is supported merely by smoke and mirrors

I took profit yesterday but not shorting this time - at least not yet. The reason being is that I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of global coordination on interest rates. In such an event the markets could go crazy the other way. Cash is king.
