THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Bless! it brings a lump to your throat - Unemployed mother-of-11 is keeping horse

An unemployed mother-of-11 for whom a council is building a six-bedroom "eco mansion” is keeping her own horse despite being on benefits.

Heather Frost, 36, bought a grey mare called Annie last year and pays paddock fees, food and vet’s bills every month.
According to stable hands the animal, which Miss Frost keeps for her 16-year-old daughter Angel, costs about £200 per month to look after.
Miss Frost has refused to comment on the horse, but Angel took to a local newspaper website to defend her mother.

She wrote: "My mum has nothing to be ashamed about.
"The house we are mooving (sic) to in northway is smaller then the one we live in now, so its far from a mansion."

Interestingly she is described as 'unemployed' - I would suggest that at 36 and with 11 children - Sophie, 21, Toby, 19, Megan, 18, Angel, Jay, 14, Chloe, 13, Paige, 12, Emily, 10, Beth, nine, Ruby, seven, and Tilly Frost, two. She would be more accurately described as never worked!!!

Think cyners is refering to the Mansion Tax with a tax on houses over £2 million to fund 10p tax rate.

Vote winner for Miliband cyners I disagree and I will be hit aswel. Cant hide property tax like you can as an individual.

Think you have to realise their is life North of London and Labour will have done the stats as will have the Libs.

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 08:24 - 21553 of 81564

ohhhhhh shity wet day here in Holmfirth.

cynic - 20 Feb 2013 08:52 - 21554 of 81564

it's not just mansion tax (why effectively target just south of england where houses are the most expensive almost by chance?), but don't forget it's also contents - e.g. jewellery, pictures etc etc - + gifts to have a new rule of 15 years instead of just 7

houses over £2m already suffer a hefty stamp duty - i.e. 7% on the whole - which has already stifled sales between £2m and about £2.5m, and of course death duties are already 40% once the threshold (£625k?) is passed on assets on which the previous owner had probably paid tax in the first place to acquire ....

perhaps we should also bring back hearth tax, or failing that, window tax ..... salt (and sugar) tax is already alleged to be in the offing

==============

of course, sitting very comfortably in west yorkshire, why should you care?
and to put that into perspective, even in that "plum of the north" harrogate, few houses fetch even >£1m ..... not sure of figures in wirral

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 09:07 - 21555 of 81564

Well thats the Libs isnt it not labour. Its a bloody daft idea that bit.

Inheritance tax for me should be bringing in far more than the £2.8 billion it brought in in 2012

I belive in responsible capitalism, my new house bought 6 months back is a multiple of the threshold they are going for. Im glad to pay it. Austerity.....what austerity, hasnt hit me one jot.

When torries start talking about how hard its hit the higher class (lol) instead of displaying tax paid they should instead be talking about how its hit the rich's disposable income................... not one jot.

And as for the hand out ie from 50% to 45% mine will all go in the bank and i dare say it will for 99.9% of all other higher tax payers. Thats no way to stimulate the economy.

In fact their is an economic case for raising benefits as the propensity to spend is 100% with them, now that would put some cash back in for the multiplyer to work on.

Fred1new - 20 Feb 2013 09:07 - 21556 of 81564

Cynic.

I associate "despise" more with your stance in relationship to other people.

Yes, my political views in general more akin to those of Labour than tory, I see much of the latter’s populist policies are based personal greed and avarice.

I do agree in the general direction of Labour and I think the left of the Liberal party (Vince), as far as economic direction and “social” direction for society. But to expect labour to lay out details of policies 2years, before the next election is stupidity and an attempt by Cameron and the rest of the carpetbaggers associated with him to set an infantile trap, hoping to that the labour leadership will step into it.

It is seen that figures Osborne, who is supposed to be in charge of the books, presents at a budget, or when responding to questions can’t be trusted as can be seen by “
Ofcom raises £2.34bn in 4G auction, less than forecast”,

There are many individuals in the labour party, who I don't rate and opinions I disagree with, but they are not in the lime light at the moment.

As far as Hays is concern he seems to be becoming more and more of a party zealot , who swallows all the dictates from above or directed by the party apparatus to spout more and more rubbish.

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 09:10 - 21557 of 81564

And as for Margeret Hodge with her hidden dosh in TRUST FUNDS (tax dodge to get round paying inheritance tax) well how dare she!!

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 09:14 - 21558 of 81564

Allister Heath ‏@AllisterHeath
4G auction raises £1.1bn less than Osborne hoped for. So deficit now even more likely to go up, not down, this year.

Triple A rating on the line.

3 monkies - 20 Feb 2013 09:36 - 21559 of 81564

I have received 2 e-mails recently from Halifax on line banking which have been in my junk box - Starts off "Dear Valued Customer, bla bla bla they want one to update online banking details and phone no. etc., then it says click here". I have ignored both but rang the Halifax this morning and I am not the first. It is a scam which I thought it was as they would address the person by their name if they wanted to contact the customer by e-mail!!!! Hope this is of some interest to some of you out there.

Fred1new - 20 Feb 2013 09:41 - 21560 of 81564

I wish I had as many bank accounts as the scam merchants think I have.

They are a b. nuisance.

3 monkies - 20 Feb 2013 09:45 - 21561 of 81564

Me too, but it was of concern when it happens to be a bank one does use.

cynic - 20 Feb 2013 09:52 - 21562 of 81564

never ever ever ever respond to that type of e-mail .... they are GUARANTEED to be scams

cynic - 20 Feb 2013 09:53 - 21563 of 81564

GF - trust funds have been in existence for decades if not since income tax was introduced! ..... in fact, they rarely produce the result hoped for, not only because trust law is forever changing, but also unforeseeable events and circumstances

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 09:56 - 21564 of 81564

Still tax avoidance, and should be tax evasion.

Fred1new - 20 Feb 2013 09:57 - 21565 of 81564

The current 'apprentice National Minimum Wage' is currently £2.65 per hour*.

Is the number of those "working as apprentices in the various schemes" considered to be employed and is that number deducted from unemployment figures generally quoted?

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 09:58 - 21566 of 81564

Alex Belardinelli ‏@abelardinelli

On 4G auction shortfall IDS tells @BBCNews, "until the receipts come in, you don't count that money" - exact opposite of what Osborne did

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

this tory government is falling apart.

IDS gone to pieces since Grayling left him.

goldfinger - 20 Feb 2013 10:10 - 21567 of 81564

GF - you can go too far! :-)

I seem to have been filled on a limit FTSE short @6,397 - I thought I'd cancelled it last night - the day is not going well so far!

Fred1new - 20 Feb 2013 10:59 - 21569 of 81564

Swap positions.

Yesterday I had a smile on my face.

Somebody has nicked it.

Fred1new - 20 Feb 2013 11:01 - 21570 of 81564

I had a motto, when you think it is going well, prepare for shots.

I must obey myself more often!
