any comments, thoughts, on this stock.

hewittalan6 - 20 Sep 2007 12:33 - 217 of 1029

Citigroup say a worst case value of 6p, so perhaps the current sp is not so interesting

Stan - 20 Sep 2007 12:38 - 218 of 1029

I think the word people are searching for is "Avoid" (shorters excepted of course) -):

Derwent - Credit Suisse reduced to below 3%

This is such a sad situation. I only hope someone dare step in and takeover the company.
Each day for a week the doom has built and it'll take something of a miracle now.

Barclay's got Woolwich as they were about to crumble, it would be a nice way to retreat on their other takeover without having to look too defeated.

Banco Santandar may also want to leave the table and try o get the Rock it still has to be worth a couple of billion. Their rights issue will easily cover that and then the ECB will provide some funding forthe Rock!!!!!!

Ok I'll go for another lie down!!!!!!!!!!!!

hlyeo98 - 20 Sep 2007 16:40 - 222 of 1029

No institution is foolish enough to step in unless they get it at rock bottom price. One who thinks it was rock bottom a few days ago at 400p will be disappointed today's close at 180p. By next week, NRK could be 80p or less!

annie38 - 20 Sep 2007 16:58 - 223 of 1029

Let's be honest no one has a clue what this business is worth at this point in time . It pains me to say this having bought 1000 at just under 5 a matter of days ago !

seawallwalker - 20 Sep 2007 17:04 - 224 of 1029

Sorry. missed..........

cynic - 20 Sep 2007 17:08 - 225 of 1029

annie .... why on earth do you continue to hold and not just bite the bullet?

Guscavalier - 20 Sep 2007 17:09 - 226 of 1029

Try and define rock bottom. Is there more than one institution interested and if so price might not go as low as is thought. There seems to be good two way business at this level- perhaps closing bears - I dont know. I may be wrong but my feeling is that the banks may not wish to see shareholders in NRK totally wiped out as this may not help sentiment with the sector. Although a longer shot, NRK may be able to ride it out if money conditions ease but, of course with a change of management. We will see over coming weeks/months how things pan out.

halifax - 20 Sep 2007 17:22 - 227 of 1029

Dont see why any bank would want to buy NRK whose business model is totally discredited. A so called bank based in Newcastle with 70 odd branches is hardly going to be a world beater. The Big Boys have effectively eliminanted an irritant in the mortgage lending market.

steveo - 20 Sep 2007 17:37 - 228 of 1029

Annie, not to late to sell and short the stock, have made back 30% of my loss today and hope to get even in the next 2 days, meanwhile gold is the place to be.

annie38 - 20 Sep 2007 17:40 - 229 of 1029

Cynic: Reasonable question. Usual stupid reason of not wishing to crystalize loss at this level. Why should I worry, it won't change my lifestyle , unlike perhaps NRK ORDINARY employees who probably have seen really significant savings in the form of Co. stock option savings schemes evaporate in the last few weeks. I was in such a scheme with HBOS until recently and there but for the grace of god. Regards. P.S. Whoever picked up 5m shares after hours must be good at big sums !

Strawbs - 20 Sep 2007 18:22 - 230 of 1029

It was probably a sell given the current price. The trade is 100 times market size so could've been worked over several days. Can't remember what the exact threasholds are, but I think 100x would result in a delayed report to the market. I've no doubt people in the city will've worked out what a reasonable price would be for NRK. Haven't a clue if it's north or south of here though. Definetly not a knife I'd want to try and catch.....

In my opinion.

Strawbs.

cynic - 20 Sep 2007 18:36 - 231 of 1029

annie - lousy answer! you are surely trying to make rather than lose money, and it is inconceivable that you will recoup these losses by hanging on ...... and my guess is that any 5m buy will be the closure of a very profitable bear position.

maestro - 20 Sep 2007 18:41 - 232 of 1029

been told that this is going north bigtime tomoro and monday...could hit 400p...so have gone long at 100 a point...heard some institutions have closed their shorts

annie38 - 20 Sep 2007 19:19 - 233 of 1029

Cynic: That's a bit harsh ! Sorry if you are not happy with what is simply an honest answer . Best wishes.

cynic - 20 Sep 2007 20:16 - 234 of 1029

may be harsh, though i think not, but then i always say it like it is .... why pussyfoot? ..... you profess an honest answer but seem unable to accept the honest response, and arguably (well hardly!) indisputable truth

seawallwalker - 20 Sep 2007 23:24 - 235 of 1029

What was your buy price maestro so I can follow your action.

fernandesb - 21 Sep 2007 00:22 - 236 of 1029

bought shares when they were 300p , was thinking that this is the bottom, but i was wrong and i remember some people here exited that they bought them for 400p, well quick question: do you think that without big investor shares might bounce back just because smaller investors and few good news??
