I'm already a fully paid up member since 2008 thank you very much and I would like to add I only drop in here now and again to remind myself how fortunate I am not to have your disposition and to have to toleratate you unlike your poor family.
Now back in your box little man.

City rumour-mongers couldn't stop shelling out gossip on Europe's largest oil producer. On Wednesday, whispers emerged that Shell could be taking a look at BG Group after its share price sunk. Then yesterday FTSE 250 Africa-focused oil and gas company Afren was said to be its target.
Afren has already been the subject of takeover talk this year. Italy's ENI and Exxon Mobil were rumoured to be interested then. Afren's shares yesterday spurted up 5p to 142.7p.

cynic - 02 Nov 2012 08:16 - 2195 of 3666

there's a great many very good reasons why AFR could be targetted by one of the majors, but that could equally apply to PMO or TLW, and probably several other successful second tier producers

London, 13 November 2012 - Afren plc ("Afren" or the "Company"), announces its Interim Management Statement and financial results for the nine months ended 30 September 2012 and an update on its operations year-to-date 2012, in accordance with the reporting requirements of the EU Transparency Directive. Information contained within this release is un-audited and is subject to further review.

2012 nine months ended 30 September 2012 results summary

Afren continues with record financial results in 2012 driven by the year-on-year increase in net production from the Ebok and Okoro fields, offshore Nigeria. Notably, production on the Okoro Field Extension has commenced, following the discovery announced in January. Production operations continue at the Barda Rash field in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Following the exploration success on the Ebok North Fault Block and Okoro Field Extension, adding significant reserves, and a world class discovery in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, exploration wells are drilling ahead onshore Kenya (Block 10A) and in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (Simrit-3).

derwent - 13 Nov 2012 09:55 - 2198 of 3666

Deferred tax for Ebok was $209m - without this profit would have been $354m which would have been about 18p for 9 months.

Afren East African Exploration - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Afren - has started a major 3D seismic programme in the Seychelles, the first 3D survey to be conducted in the country.

The programme will consist of two surveys in Afren's licence areas that extend over a combined area of approximately 14,319 sq kms on the Seychelles micro-continent.

The areas are located in shallow to deep water in the Northern half of the Seychelles Plateau.

A number of attractive prospects have been identified during the interpretation of 3,733 km of 2D seismic data which were acquired in 2011-12.

The 2011-12 2D survey was designed to better reveal the areas' true prospectivity, following the earlier identification of several large scale structures.
