I get back to find that DiMarco has played poorly to my benefit having layed him off last night. Just greened up so can enjoy the final round tonight.

Is this the season where Els blows up? I've noticed this pattern (Woods expected it appears) where you fly high for a few years then dissapear without a trace. I started laying Duval after he won the British Open. He is now ranked 574th in the world vs #2 back then.

well done on di marco - the frustration of a tournament like this being on the beeb - so often you miss some of the crucial action - effectively Woods has won the tournament this afternoon yet we'll see about 5 mins highlights of it before they go live with him well in front.

Thanks guys, only one hit today from 23 bets Hex @ 17:10 Allegedly 1st but managed to 'red up'! for a reduced loss. Recovered my small loss on the Irish races Lim/Leop.
From 91 trades in the last 4 days only 4 losses (3 yesterday). Laying the 4th fav 2 mins from the start works for me (so far) I also back a few in running. I risk 16.6% of my total pot on each race, ok' that may seem very high, but of a success rate of 96.5% my pot is building at a fantastic rate. DYOR ...

can you explain a bit more please - are you just laying them or are you backing them back in running? if so what movement are you looking for before you back them ?


i see 5 minutes was a bit generous to the highlights of the defining moments of the masters - more like 2 or 3 mins - good old auntie beeb - and then we can watch them sit in the studio and discuss it for half an hour before the leaders go out again

Fund - I lay the 4th fav before the off, then at times, not often, back the leader at around 2's when the next nearest are 4's near the end of race, of these I only back around 5%. I am more than happy to make a small consistent profit by laying.

Do many others of you use this service, and do you find it helps? tia.

Not sure about fundy but I'm pretty sure none of the others (including me) will use live feeds aside to figure out if the race is going off on time. We don't rely on following horses or the actual race.

Was going to do something on the golf this evening but not much to do. Will look at some of the minor markets and see what is available.

That was weird, DiMarcos ball sat on the green for a minute or so before rolling back 20 yards or so. I'd love to play at Augusta but with greens like that I think I'd need a handicap about 10 times my current one.

i have attheraces on the tv whilst trading the horses hence no need for a feed to the pc. Find it is very helpful at times for the following reason:


1) you can tell exactly when the race is going to go off, ie when they go down to the post, go in behind, when they are in the stalls (if a flat race) and when they are off. it also helps when they break the tape in a nh race as the market stays open an extra minute or two and is often very easy to scalp

2) you hear which horses are shortening or drifting on course - this helps me as i tend to only have 3 horses on my screen currently and can miss opportunities, especially the gambles where horses with big odds shorten considerably - it keeps the focus on which horses to watch. also, if there is a big gamble going on, invariably the favourite drifts quite close to the off hence in this situation i look to lay the favourite

3) you get interviews with jockeys trainers etc and they will often either rave about their horse or write off its chances - you invariably see quite a large change on betfair over the next minute or two. also they may well often talk about another horse they have running later on - late last week at approx 2pm a trainer tipped up one of his horses in the 5.00 race. at the time it was trading at 9.2, by ten minutes before the race it was trading at 3.65 - a very nice profit

they reckon that a club golfer with an 8 handicap wouldnt break 100 round augusta in championship conditions and would struggle to break 90 on the way it is normally set up.

I've noticed Betfair appears to be ahead of the coverage of the Masters on the BBC.
