I was only pulling your leg about being too old for the chandelier, socs. Didn't want to get your blood pressure racing too high.

:-)

Did you get my mail through the am internal, btw?

snoball - 01 Oct 2003 17:48 - 2190 of 23498

Coffee and dough nuts, please.
Some of those new fangled American ones.
The ones that make you die early.

Socrates - 01 Oct 2003 18:02 - 2191 of 23498

Thanks Hilary, your e-mail and Jeff's arrived 17:14 and 17:16 respectively. I'm so glad you were pulling my leg, I was almost ready to take down my chandelier.

hilary - 01 Oct 2003 18:12 - 2192 of 23498

One chocolate iced Krispy Kreme for snoball coming up.

Varieties_r1_c6.jpg

My download's done, so I'm going to browse through my list and call it a day. TTFN and come on Chelsea tonight.

Socrates - 01 Oct 2003 21:06 - 2193 of 23498

Hilary
Krispy Kreme doughnuts is a company EK was shorting for a long time. I can't remember if he was successful or not. The yanks love the product apparently.

jules99 - 01 Oct 2003 21:34 - 2194 of 23498

Jules99.

Socrates - 01 Oct 2003 21:41 - 2195 of 23498

Welcome Jules, we have a small but friendly clientele and 'virtually' any food or drink you can imagine, and it's all FREE. Yippee!

Jeffmack
Are we up for a good day on the FTSE tomorrow, +194 close on the DOW tonight is bit of a jump.

jeffmack - 01 Oct 2003 22:02 - 2196 of 23498

Flying eh Socs. Did you see the new WGG thread?

Welcome Jules, newcomers always welcome to come in for a chat

vasey - 01 Oct 2003 22:03 - 2197 of 23498

hello Jules99, you found the Tea Rooms then, welcome.

Looks like a blue day tomorrow, Socs.....so maybe a glass of champagne? Hope the cold is easing up now and you will be able to appreciate the elegance of this extremely expensive bottle!

Socrates - 01 Oct 2003 23:31 - 2198 of 23498

Vasey
Yes I could do with a kicker of a blue day. I am just a gnats leg away from my portfolio cost line being crossed by the value line (my version of a golden cross), then I shall feel I'm really motoring. As for the bubbly, I keep the very best for you but to be honest it gives me heartburn. I'll settle for a half decent sweet Cava. Looks like I'll have to keep the cold Chablis on one side, I think Hilary has gone to bed early.

Jeffmack
Yes I saw it, didn't say a lot did it? I was just having a forage around in Companies House today. Wiggins still listed there, interestingly there are five (I think) Planestation companies also listed.

Also looked at the LSE site, Wiggins still listed as 'Construction Other' and still showing as suspended. I just had the thought that there might have been some change that had gone un-noticed.

Right, that's it for tonight. I'm off to Bedfordshire, g'night all.

8 Ball - 01 Oct 2003 23:50 - 2199 of 23498

Socs Good night

I must admit I am finding it hard to find undervalued companies at present.
I have looked at companies in the manufacturing industry who have switched prodution from the uk to cheaper parts of the world.
However I am rather fussy at the moment and the couple that turned up were not in sectors I like.
The best I came across was AXD but not 100% comitted.

PTO is worth a look IHHO...........

This_is_me - 02 Oct 2003 11:46 - 2200 of 23498

Hilary

Are you in HAMP? What do you think of its prospects?

hilary - 02 Oct 2003 12:07 - 2201 of 23498

T_i_m,

I said some time back that I considered them to be worth, and felt they would go to, 20p. Nothing's changed. At this current level though, you've got to expect some pullbacks along the way.

Socrates - 02 Oct 2003 16:53 - 2202 of 23498

Teas up!

jeffmack - 02 Oct 2003 17:24 - 2203 of 23498

snoball - 02 Oct 2003 17:37 - 2205 of 23498

Krispy Kreme & coffee, pleas, before I go out on my bike
to keep fit.

jeffmack - 02 Oct 2003 17:41 - 2206 of 23498

Socs
Did you ever get into PDX? Could have double you money almost by now.

Socrates - 02 Oct 2003 18:41 - 2207 of 23498

No Jeff, to my great regret I never did. I am fully invested at present, at least as far as I want to be. I am still in the phase of trying to grow my portfolio at a safe but steady rate. I have a few certificated holdings that I shall sell soon. I shall salt some of the proceeds away and look for one or two good short term trades.

Did you buy PDX? I still think it has some milage in it.

drivethru - 02 Oct 2003 18:42 - 2208 of 23498
