Is it possible Credit Agricole have snaffled the two 85 /45 and 10 mln sells today
taking them to 28.5% and are able to get the mineworkers union 3.14%.
Do they have to make a bid for seo?

hewittalan6 - 27 Oct 2006 17:25 - 21891 of 27111

boldtrader - 27 Oct 2006 18:23 - 21895 of 27111

Looking at the buy and sells on Barclays the price is all over the place,if you're an optomist they were buys and of course a pessimist would say sells! I'm in and i'm optomistic. Good luck to all holders. cheers.

nice buy at the end of trading///

greekman - 27 Oct 2006 19:45 - 21898 of 27111

When I posted earlier....Strange day at the moment. Very big spread (just closed a bit as I post). With the reasonable increase in the sp on low volume, looks like another day of big trades having been done but not being released until just prior to close..... I had no idea that I would come back in at 1900hrs to find volumes such as they are. With sells at a massive over to buys, and the sp hardly moving, who is going to bet against late buys showing early on Monday.
For the sp to be where it is, surely massive volume will show within the first couple of hours on market opening. The MM's must have huge orders to fill.

Dump now - pick 'em up later for .8.

Fred1new - 27 Oct 2006 21:47 - 21901 of 27111

My guess is that the MM are as much in the dark as the majority of punters on this board and covering their rear ends.

hewittalan6 - 27 Oct 2006 21:57 - 21902 of 27111

Just flexing my naivity muscles here.
10 days from now is November 6th. Could the big sells be one of the 12 million investors short selling the stock as he knows he has bought it in 10 days time for 20% less than he can sell it for today. if the finance doesn't get the vote, he could buy it back for nowt cos the company would be bankrupt. No lose situation for him. At worst 20% profit at best 100% profit.
If not one of the 12 million, it could just as easily be any other large holder performing his own bit of hedging. The 10 days thing semms a little co-incidental.
Alan

bhunt1910 - 27 Oct 2006 23:39 - 21903 of 27111

Alan - exactly what I was saying yesterday - but I had not factored in the 10 thing

Next week will be interesting

alfalfa - 27 Oct 2006 23:39 - 21904 of 27111

Not sure I understand the 10-day point there, Alan.

hewittalan6 - 28 Oct 2006 08:19 - 21905 of 27111

Trading terms, alfalfa. Anything traded yesterday on T+10 must be settled on November 6th.
Alan

boldtrader - 28 Oct 2006 08:53 - 21906 of 27111

Courtesey of maxk on advfn, rumour of the day at www.timesonline.co.uk 28/10/06 kaupthing placed 85m shares @1p.maybe Shere building stake before 07/11 OR Howard White selling to fund take up of rights. Sounds positive either way. cheers.

alfalfa - 28 Oct 2006 09:15 - 21907 of 27111

That's where my query lay, Alan.

Any T+t trade must be settled t working days after the trade date.

Thus, any trade made yesterday on T+10 must be settled by Friday 10th November.

Hope this helps.

Alfa.

hewittalan6 - 28 Oct 2006 09:26 - 21908 of 27111

T+5 then...........??????????

greekman - 28 Oct 2006 09:35 - 21909 of 27111

Fred1new,

I agree the MM's are probably in the dark as much as we are with whats happening, but I still think they have big orders to fill, or have now filled them.
