IS CENSORSHIP KILLING THIS BB? (NEO)

The Bantam - 03 Jun 2003 11:11

Neo Anderson - 03 Jun'03 - 11:10 - 42 of 42 edit

Not a new post 'over there' since 9.44am.

Do you think our mate Bullshare is glad that he has banned me and gravy (and a few others)?

I think that debate adds to the vibrancy of a BB and Bullshare's harsh censorship of his own BB is killing it IMO.

Until he can stop this 'It's my football and I'll have my way' attitude that BB will slowly disintergrate IMO. I suppose that the tumbleweed effect is a symptom of the level of censorship that goes on there.

superrod - 03 Jun 2003 22:35 - 22 of 48

haystack
the difference is that in a pub you can smack the bugger who you disagree with LOL

probably why disputes last so long on bbs

ah well ......round 3009 tomorrow.....ding ding

Andy - 03 Jun 2003 23:12 - 23 of 48

superrod,

LOL! (but also very true)

Cassis,

Good luck with your BB, I too believe in free speech, but when people's only intention is to ruin and destroy, you either allow it to happen, or do something about it!

Funnily eneough, if you do start your "no holds barred bb" I seriouly doubt whether the main protaganists from here would join, they seem to need, and want, an audience, and enjoy the trashing of threads, denying others the opportunity for some reasonable debate.

Politics certainly has a place on here, IMHO.

Regards,

Andy.

superrod
You must frequent different places from me and talk to different people, if you are liable to smack someone who you are having a ruck with. I have never felt the need to smack anyone that I disagree with.

Densil - 04 Jun 2003 08:02 - 25 of 48

Haystack,
Neither have I until I signed up here. But there are a few spamming and stalking posters who need a hearty box around the ears and a kick up the alias.

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 09:03 - 26 of 48

Supperer,
you have to say ting-a-ling NOT ding-ding, that will keep you clear of everyone.

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 09:08 - 27 of 48

Dense1,
your wish has alredy been granted a metaphorical `box around the ears and kick up the alias` has been administered to your boss, and it bugs you to death doesn`t it, even to the point of threatening violence, what a sad group you and theGroup are.

Cassis- I too saw the iii post on censorship- excellent it was too

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 09:09 - 28 of 48

Haystack-agree entirely that comment was typical of those who yearn to rule by force, morons.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Jun 2003 09:10 - 29 of 48

Gents,

can we calm down a little bit please.

Ian

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 09:12 - 30 of 48

morphine for dense1 then?

Insider trader - 04 Jun 2003 09:21 - 31 of 48

Ainsoph is ok if left alone by the serial snippers. I know he/she cuts and pastes a lot, but if you are new to investing/trading, he/she must be a help and not a hindrance. I say bring Ainsoph back, and ban those who constantly attack him/her.

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 11:05 - 32 of 48

morning Kay

superrod - 04 Jun 2003 11:43 - 33 of 48

haystack......maybe you missed the LOL

the point is that if bb dicussions were carried out in a pub as they are here and elsewhere there would be mega bloodshed. however the fact that you are face to face with those with whom you disagree tempers the argument. you are not someone hiding in a chat room so violence would be the very last resort. in fact a pub would probably be a better place to discuss shares.

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 11:59 - 34 of 48

sounds a good scheme to me

MightyMicro - 04 Jun 2003 12:03 - 35 of 48

My two cents: if you think that this BB is censored, just try posting the expression "MoneyAM" on ADVFN. That's extreme, declaring a competitor's name to be inadmissable.

Also, I was banned from ADVFN for having the effrontery to run a software company that just happened to be retained by MoneyAM/Shares to build this site and for no other reason. Now that's heavy-handed.

The moderation applied here is relatively light and to the best of my knowledge, posts are only edited or deleted if they are libellous, seriously offensive, or generally of the sort that would indeed cause an outbreak of fisticuffs in your local hostelry.

superrod - 04 Jun 2003 12:08 - 36 of 48

so........its back to the pub then mm :o))))))))))

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 12:17 - 37 of 48

I recall once on the ETrade PB putting a ? and nothing else in a post to question the previous posters remarks, by mistake i pressed go three times and three posts obviously showed the ?, I got an immediate on screen bollocking,
with a sarcy` whats this supposed to mean`, and a ban threat, I cancelled
my a/c on the spot.

Kayak - 04 Jun 2003 12:26 - 38 of 48

The basic problem is that there are a number of people more interested in having a row with each other than in taking part in the business at hand. A bit like a group of lads going to see a movie and insisting on arguing about the plot and each other rather than in watching the film, and thereby detracting from everyone else's enjoyment of the film. Kicking them out of the theatre is nothing to do with censorship, as wasn't MoneyAM's decision to ban a number of people for constant rows and harrassment of each other.

But what's happened? This was all more than a week ago, and yet those of the group of people who remained are still arguing about the bannings and are still having a go at each other. Some people never learn and it won't be long surely before another lot of bannings.

superrod - 04 Jun 2003 12:28 - 39 of 48

kayak a veiled threat?

i dont go looking for trouble. my time on the bbs is severely limited and all i want is a level playing field.

Kayak - 04 Jun 2003 12:29 - 40 of 48

Not a threat, more a prediction, and certainly not veiled!

Sequestor - 04 Jun 2003 12:35 - 41 of 48

talking of veils I think i`ll draw one and go out

so long
