Rights Secured For Guinness World Records Game
Senior Appointment Made in North America
Agents appointed in Benelux and Germany
ZOO Digital Group plc (ZOO), the DVD technology and games publishing company, today announced that it has secured the rights to produce and publish an interactive DVD product based on the highly successful Guinness World Records from Guinness World Records Ltd, part of Hit Entertainment PLC. ZOO plans to use the rights to produce a celebratory 50th anniversary interactive DVD in 5 territories including North America, New Zealand and Australia. The game will be launched by December 2004.
Following the highly successful product launch of DVD-EXTRA at NAB (the National Association of Broadcasters conference) in Las Vegas on 17 April 2004, commercial sales of DVD-Extra have begun successfully with Quba New Media Ltd producing 3 interactive DVD products for Land Rover and Focus Multimedia producing The Driving Test interactive DVD, which compliments the success of the PC CD-ROM product.
In order to exploit DVD-Extras full potential in North America a new appointment has been made. Gordon Doran has been appointed President of ZOOtech Inc, which is wholly owned by ZOOtech Ltd. Gordon previously held senior positions at MediaStream Interactive Inc & LightWorks Design and will be based in San Francisco. Agents have also been appointed in Benelux and Germany, namely TransTec BV and MediArte GmbH, who are both well positioned to keep up with demand and build on existing relationships.
Commenting on the Groups progress, Ian Stewart, CEO said:
The official launch of DVD-Extra Studio in Las Vegas generated a huge amount of interest from the entertainment community. This level of interest has already been converted into a number of commercial contracts and partnerships of which the Guinness World Records deal is one that gives us an opportunity to extend their brand into a new and vibrant market in their 50th Anniversary Year. The potential and market opportunity for interactive DVD content is enormous and the market is still in its embryonic stages. Our cutting edge technology and good reputation in this area will enable ZOO to drive strong revenue growth in the future and secure a substantial part of the market through the licensing of its technologies and the publishing of interactive DVDs.
Alistair Richards, COO of Guinness World Records Ltd, commented:
Guinness World Records is excited that this partnership with ZOO will provide our first venture into DVD gaming. This long term partnership should allow us to unlock more of the equity in the brand and channel it into an entirely new product category in a number of key territories. We are convinced that the combination of our brand and ZOOs technology will provide a powerful and compelling interactive experience.
