Ok behind you means you are approximately going south/west, as the sun is always to the south in the Northern hemisphere and its after 12 so it will be to the south/west, if the shadow is behind you, you are walking towards the sun.
SOOOOOOO turn round, now turn round so you are facing north/east roughly with your shadow in front of you and keep going until you get to the end of the road.
