Good morning all. A bad day for me yesterday as a companion of 18 years died. Since he was single, I suppose I shall have to cough up for his cremation as he left no will. But then, not many cats do, do they? Her-indoors is a bit upset as I am too heavy to sit on her lap, like what he did.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind. Life goes on and today has dawned a delicate shade of blue in my portfolio. Such a rare occurrence deserves a celebration so I shall bring in some extra special sherry trifle. Don't eat too much of it, I won't be responsible for doctors' bills or charges of DWI.

Morning all, nice and sunny on Sevenoaks. Any chance of a warm Danish with a Latte and a copy of the Gaurdian out on the sun deck please?

Socs sorry to hear that your cat died intestate, I found myself surprisingly upset when ours died some years ago even though I was greatly relieved that by dying my cat had relieved me of the horrendous costs of vets fees.
Perhaps if you were to lose some weight you wife may let you cuddle up on her lap in place of moggy?

Aw, Socrates, that's sad. 18 years, a good age for a moggy.
I wonder if George, our milkman, ever supplied cream for your cat? Talking of George, sheesh what a guy! I was up all night worrying about Bunny's cabernet cabinet when in he walks, with 2 litres of milk in a plastic container from Sainsbury (must be the name of his dairy); he said I looked tired so I explained everything. Quick as a flash he offers to drop his milk round for a few days and he would do some touring of the antique shops and auction rooms to see if he could find it. He's got a camper van, it's not a bad one actually, I've seen it, so he could sleep in it. He thought he might speed things up if my wife could go with him as a lookout so he wouldn't have to take his eyes off the road. When I queried the sleeping arrangements (the van only has a double bed) he said, no problem, he would sleep on the floor. I mean, hey come on, what a guy!! My wife said she really didn't mind roughing it for a while if it would help me, so I waved them off half an hour ago.

Oh I know Optomistic. The number of times she has driven me to the pub and said, "just ring me when you are ready to come home, it doesn't matter how late it is; don't let anyone else bring you because it makes me so happy to come to fetch you", well...... legion! A lot of blokes would say she is a sucker but not me, I just realize how lucky I really am!

Kim..I have to say your wifes being serviced a lot better than that camper van.George bought it off a friend of mine a year or so back.he had it for twelve years as a burger van never saw a garage once he had to give it up in the end.Plenty of customers but never made any money?..although his sausages were legendry.I was glad to see the back of it.still its good to see someones benefiting. Thanks for the mdx post Kim.

It's funny really, I've been married longer than I can remember, and during all those years I wasn't aware that my wife knew anything about engines but I overheard her talking to George about a big end. Oh, and you are right about the burger van, there was some stuff left in it, I heard my wife tell George to "get that sausage out"; there was a mention of a roll as well.

Kimdo you reckon there would still be a skin left on the sausage after all this time? Its probably stale?

I think it was a Spanish one Tabby, they last a bit; I heard my wife say that she likes it spicy and then I heard her shout what sounded like "Jesus" so I suppose she was shouting "chorizo"!

Reminds me of the delightful Samantha...
...Samantha's off to see her gentleman friend at his high class butcher's shop. When she ordered her Christmas turkey last year, he offered her a range of sizes and a choice of male or female bird. Samantha says she was very well satisfied after settling on an eighteen pound cock....
