How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Scrip

i have friends who have played there and they set it up quite fair - its not too bad unless the wind really blows - let us know when you are going and well have a sweepstake on how many shots you take on the 17th - its only 130 yds - but the green is an island

betfair seems to be getting further ahead of bbc2

Evening guys,

Back on the golf once again.

Just been scalping ticks on Tiger at the moment. Even though he's ahead there is a tendency for him to play too aggressively leading to mistakes.

The longer the round goes on, the more di marco is going up in my estimations - hes not letting tiger get to him, is playing his own game, making few errors and making birdies when he can - just wonder if he gets to within 1 or all square whether this will change

as for tiger, he is trying to slow the game down and i feel it is hurting him more than di marco

great putt from DiMarco - Watching BBC2 after seeing betfair move do quickly is taking some of the enjoyment out of it.

His odds moved from 7 - 3.8 back to 4's now.

Scripophilist - 10 Apr 2005 22:36 - 2214 of 10502

Gonna be a late night by the look of it. Only one shot in it and eight holes left. 12m traded and plenty more to come I think.

bakko - 10 Apr 2005 22:38 - 2215 of 10502

Spot on Fundy.

Only 1 between them now! On the basis of that I'm going back DiMarco with some of Tiger's profits

Fundamentalist - 10 Apr 2005 22:49 - 2216 of 10502

Ive stopped watching the prices on betfair - want to enjoy it

as expected, as soon as he got back to 1 down, di marco makes a soft bogey. feel 13 and 15 will decide it now

Fundamentalist - 10 Apr 2005 23:38 - 2217 of 10502

This is getting more and more interesting - a remarkably composed performance from di marco - bakko - you should be doing well by now

Fundamentalist - 10 Apr 2005 23:42 - 2218 of 10502

Unreal chip from woods

bakko - 10 Apr 2005 23:43 - 2219 of 10502

Sublime stuff!

bakko - 10 Apr 2005 23:47 - 2220 of 10502

That shot shortened Tiger from 1.43 to 1.07

Now he's back to 1.17 after that reckless tee off!

Fundamentalist - 10 Apr 2005 23:55 - 2221 of 10502

and 1.35 after 3 shots lol

bakko - 11 Apr 2005 00:02 - 2222 of 10502

Can't believe that with 1 shot in it you can still get odds of near 7 for DiMarco

Fundamentalist - 11 Apr 2005 00:07 - 2223 of 10502

what odds di marco to get his own back for the 16th and chip it in?

bakko - 11 Apr 2005 00:10 - 2224 of 10502

Fundy, I think you have the ability to see into the future...LOL

Fundamentalist - 11 Apr 2005 00:14 - 2225 of 10502

Bakko

oh so close

hats off to di marco - he has been so composed but woods having chipped in has finished 5 5 and thrown it away - ho hum i laid him at 1.06 - off to green up

Fundamentalist - 11 Apr 2005 00:21 - 2226 of 10502

Just refreshed betfair and my balance had gone up - just realised i had a place bet on Donald at the start of the tournament - so caught up in the head to head didnt realise hed finished 3rd lol

bakko - 11 Apr 2005 00:22 - 2227 of 10502

Nice lay off Fundy, hats off to you too!

I was green quite a few holes ago but backed DiMarco as he was gaining momentum earlier. I'll pick up a nice profit if Tiger wins but more than double again if DiMarco clinches it.

Fundamentalist - 11 Apr 2005 00:29 - 2228 of 10502

nice to see di marco lay it up short to try and chip it in - inch left of last time
