Dynamite - 19 Mar 2005 23:07 - 2212 of 27111

Thanks SD...I take that as a compliment LOL I think I would be more excited about the Asda deal than meeting me. I definitely won't be trailing a blue touch paper...you can look but you cannot touch hehe cos' then I might Explode POW!!

I have been scanning the papers I haven't seen anything about SEO of interest yet. Any one who does post it here.
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine.

i agree sd. not much sunshine here this morning , miss dynamite, so we are off to york for the day . first to the outlet village then probably for a nice bit of grub at ask (if its still there). considering everything, i feel really calm. i would be quite happy if it went all the way to april 8th. the "buy on rumour sell on news" brigade will keep pushing the price up. i would like an rns on fridays events though, something official. nothing has been released by bprg or seo. thats curious because both have been quick before.

A Ruthies Fund - 20 Mar 2005 09:37 - 2214 of 27111

Bos, SD + Di

I know a lot of this is already known to us, but the growth rates of ready-made meals on bith sides of the pond are interesting:

"Another company aiming to improve ready meal container performance, while simultaneously reducing brand owner/manufacturer costs and simplifying the recycling of used plastic food trays, is Southampton-based radio frequency (RF) technology specialist Stanelco.

Following successful ongoing trials of its new RF sealing system with Grampian Country Foods [with stuffing balls in tin trays and barbecued pork in plastic ones] and Oscar Mayer [ready meals], Stanelco is optimistic full-scale commercial packhouse trials with an Asda seafood supplier will see the supermarket introduce the process more widely across its supplier base.

The tray lidding system, possibly a world first, eliminates the need for additional PE or other heatsealing layers on CPET and APET preformed and thermoform/fill and seal packs, potentially reducing users' material costs by up to 20%. It also reportedly enables faster sealing than traditional heatsealing on foil trays, and eliminates 'leakers'.

"Our RF technology is ideally suited to high integrity sealing of microwaveable CPET, APET and foil food trays," says Stanelco technical director Mike Feast. "Food manufacturers wanting to use monomaterial, easily recyclable plastic packs can now do so."

The system will seal even through areas contaminated by juices, gravies or sauces. Stanelco has pioneered the technology using Proseal heatsealers, but can retrofit the required RF sealing head and other components to many different manufacturers' machines or tailor-make equipment.

While the ready meal market is still growing [figures from Rexam's recent "Busy Lives" research show it grew by 6% across Europe and 4% in the US in retail volume terms between 2002 and 2003], and provides ample opportunity for innovation, impulse buying and today's on-the-go eating and drinking culture have spawned some ingenious packaging developments too.

Nearly half [44%] those surveyed in the UK "rarely or never plan ahead" for "refuelling on the move", instead "grabbing a drink and a bite when they can", while 71% said they would try their favourite brand in a new package "at least once". "

PP - not sure where you are getting your info from, but on both Comdirect and Digital Look, consensus forecast is given as a PE of 130 ish 2005 and 47 ish 2006. Just didn't anyone Jumpin out of their knickers in fright, know what I mean!

This link is an old article but very interesting read for a Sunday at least it shows how Radio-Frequency Sealing can also be used for Medical Products, although I think Stanelco's new RF supersedes this old technology. http://www.devicelink.com/mddi/archive/99/12/003.html

andysmith - 20 Mar 2005 13:40 - 2219 of 27111

Been away for the weekend folks, great phonecall I got shortly after lunch on Friday. Like Bos' thought one more buying op on negative cc news (even though accounted for by SEO) BUT to have it turn positive!!! Now I have to pay >18p for my top-up but so what, nothing to hold it back now!!
Mickeyskint, I think 50p by end of this year and >100p in 12-18months, who knows after that. Jumpin, Or jumpout, whatever!!! It is difficult to forecast a company turning around with such massive potential. My own maths has been on here so many times but 100p is quite realistic based on potential EPS 10p and modest PE x10. I guess once the Asda deal is announced and you can put meat on the bones it will become clearer, hope you've jumped in before then though.
Asda want the deal and it will be good for SEO.

andysmith - 20 Mar 2005 13:45 - 2220 of 27111

Also, although RF Sealing of meat packs is going to deliver the main earnings, we now potentially do have Ingel to add to Aquasol, Frogpack and bio-degradable.
It just gets better and better and we havn't even had the Asda RNS yet!!

driver - 20 Mar 2005 16:16 - 2221 of 27111

Andy
Do you think there is any potential for using RF technology for Medical Products or has it already been done.

EWRobson - 20 Mar 2005 17:28 - 2222 of 27111

bos: Thanks for the concern. In fact, enjoying a very pleasant holiday down in Fowey, Cornwall. Made for pleasant when I had a look at the ceefax on Friday evening and saw the movement on SEO and GMC too. Could have vacationed in Sun City instead! Great news on the cc and feeling especially smug having made a point on SEO's views in the finals. Note that it also enables SEO to pursue the InGel business which is in direct conflict with B**G and has huge potential. Not that they really need it at the moment. It will be interesting to see the price movement on Monday because the brakes are really off now.

Jumpin: I believe andysmith is in the right ballpark on projections. What would be good for you to get hold of is the effect on profits of royalties from year 2 onwards. Figures quoted are 40K for retrofit and tehn 30K per annum royalties. This is why news of the ASDA deal is so important; has this structure help up to any great extent? I think you will find the knowledgeable commentators seeing that there is no holding SEO from progressing to mid-cap index and then on to FT100. As suggested, if you are seriously interested it is worth going through the earlier posts and checking out the article in Shares (reference not to hand).

andysmith - 20 Mar 2005 19:39 - 2223 of 27111

Driver, what excites me most is the vast potential that this breakthrough will open up to SEO. The Shares article comparing to Tetrapak may not seem that silly in years to come. Medical and other markets are possible but SEO need to grow first. Who knows just how successful SEO will be but from a base price of 4-6p last year and even at 18.25p now it is ridiculously cheap and IMO worth some dosh of anyones money. Right now my average is <6p with 90%+ built up last year plus a few more this year at 9.2p. With cc "apparently" out of the way I have no qualms about topping up at 18.5p, still a five-bagger from here within 12 months. Wish I'd topped up before at 14-16p, didn't cos I have a lot already and expected cc negativity to bring temporary fall in sp. How pleasantly surprised by Friday, just need the RNS confirming and then the Asda deal and wave goodbye to the past and look up to the FTSE350 and beyond.

Andy
Out of interest I have used seo as a Hoover sucking up all the rubbish I had in my portfolio RED ALY to name but a few I have now got 11 stocks instead of 20 that I use to have, I have topped up 8 times my average is 9.7 at 88%+

andysmith - 20 Mar 2005 21:20 - 2225 of 27111

Nice tactic Driver, my buy this year was basically that I was on such a good run I got out of my rubbish holdings and put into SEO. Recently though took good profits out of 4 holdings and will re-invest some into SEO IF cc has been put to bed before Asda deal and hopefully for good. Nice situation cos on two of them MMG/IDS, I have taken out good profit and still have some shares running as freebies!! I feel though that SEO has much further to run so won't be taking my profits yet, just adding to my holdings.

morning. rns time.

Stanelco plc ('Stanelco')
Stanelco wins leave to appeal

Stanelco RF Technologies Limited, a subsidiary of Stanelco, the RF (radio
frequency) applications group has been granted leave to appeal over the findings
made against it in its long running dispute with BioProgress Technology Limited.

In the hearing at the High Court on Friday 18th March the Court also stayed all
further proceedings relating to the dispute, including BioProgress' claim for
damages and the process directed at implementing the judge's initial finding
until after the appeal is heard. BioProgress were also ordered to pay 9,750
towards Stanelco's costs for this hearing and an earlier application by
Stanelco. BioProgress were also given leave to appeal the court's trial
judgement.

Ian Balchin, Chief Executive of Stanelco commented:

'This is a very significant result for Stanelco and leaves the way open for us
to appeal the decision of the Patents Court, which we now intend to do. We are
committed to protecting our technology and remain confident in our litigation
against BioProgress that Stanelco will retain access to the technology which we
developed.'

Mixed messsage - BOTH parties now have leave to appeal original judgment, so could end up worse for SEO. But, SEO this time granted costs and procedures stemming from original judgment now stayed until after appeal. So SEO must have convinced judge they had a clear case for appeal. But does not add any weight to the suggestion that appeal will be won - only that they have a case to be heard. So we wait again. But I suspect the SP will relax a little higher on this news. We'll see later today if I'm right.

nothing from bprg apart from their results. my reading of this statement is basically , all bets are off. it's almost like we are back to last year. only this time the cc is not the focus of attention for seo. instead the cc is something going on in the back ground which , if we get anything out of it , will be the icing on the cake. if the verdict stays the same , it wont affect us as it is already in the price.

rayrac - 21 Mar 2005 07:29 - 2230 of 27111

160m forecast from the FMC deal earlier, where has that gone? Should they have forecast that so early?

This from part of the Bioprogress report....

"It is therefore difficult to accurately forecast the Company's financial
performance during the early and pre commercialisation phase of its licensed
technologies. This is a challenge for the Company's management but is offset by
ensuring the company has a strong balance sheet with sufficient cash not only to
underpin the companies financial security while revenues are uncertain but also
to reassure its customers and licensees that it has the financial strength to
survive during the period it is readying its technologies for commercialisation.
This is an important issue for potential licensees as entering into a new
technology licensing agreements involves the commitment of substantial resources
by the licensee.

A strong cash position also enables the Company to delay licensing discussions
for newer technologies like WAFERTABTM until a much later stage in their
commercial development when they are demonstrable. This enables much higher
value to be secured for shareholders from customers or licensees than was
possible in the earlier stages of the Company's development when it had fewer
resources.

The Company will increasingly be able to control and forecast its revenue stream
more accurately, and its financial performance will also stabilise as the XGEL
(R) technologies become demonstrable and the Company can generate revenues by
the sale of machines and film in markets and product fields outside of those it
has already licensed and where licensees control the rate of revenue stream.

The revenue and profit contribution of BioTec Films has been lower than
anticipated in 2004 and this will continue in 2005 as the market for simple
relatively unsophisticated dissolve-in-the-mouth products has matured and become
generic. There is more competition as these products do not require
pharmaceutical standard manufacturing facilities and margins in this sector have
been eroded.

And this from the High Court judgement twix Stanelco and Bioprogress...

Doesn't look very good for one of the company's involved does it? Also, is there a breakdown of the consultative fees payed by Bioprogress..and to who?

bosley - 21 Mar 2005 07:41 - 2231 of 27111

just reading apprpiate bits in bprg results. it seems the litigation costs have hit them hard, (i thought they had insurance?), and it seems the results were written before fridays hearing. it is becoming evident that this thing should have been settled long ago out of court as both parties feel that the ip is theirs, and both parties are behaving like a dog with a bone.( no pun intended, sd). i am sure something could have been worked out a ,long, long time ago, possibly shared ownership of some sort? both companies would now have seen a years revenue from the technology, and not a costly cc. lets get it all out today , then it can disappear away into the background while we wait the THE rns.
