THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Haystack - 13 Mar 2013 19:15 - 22279 of 81564

Looks like a South American pope.

Haystack - 13 Mar 2013 19:17 - 22280 of 81564

A Jesuit pope!

tyketto - 13 Mar 2013 19:24 - 22281 of 81564

Francis the first from Brazil
Son of an Italian immigrant.

Haystack - 13 Mar 2013 19:43 - 22282 of 81564

Argentinian not Brazilian.

Haystack - 13 Mar 2013 19:58 - 22283 of 81564

I think he is the first Jesuit pope. The cardinals usually try and block Jesuit cardinals from being pope. The head of the Jesuits is called the Black Pope because of his power in Rome.

I wouldn't usually support Bayern Munich, but as a Spurs supporter I have to this evening.

Are you still skinny dipping DC or are you back home freezing to death?

dreamcatcher - 13 Mar 2013 21:54 - 22287 of 81564

Still here 3m, in the mid 70's . It does not look very good at home. Leave/ flight home friday 9.30am. Oh to stay here.lol

3 monkies - 13 Mar 2013 22:04 - 22288 of 81564

Gosh if I had the chance I would flipping stay and make alternative arrangements back home and alter flight - even move hotels if I could afford it. Crap to say the least here, even more crap, when one, per chance watches the b. awful news. However one has commitments and if cirsumstances prevail then have a safe journey back.

This_is_me - 13 Mar 2013 22:07 - 22289 of 81564

You've got to feel sorry for Chris Hulme and Vicky Pryce. The one minute, spending a life of luxury, not really wanting for anything, all at the taxpayers expense, the next minute, they'll be back out of prison.

dreamcatcher - 13 Mar 2013 22:11 - 22290 of 81564

I will be booking for next year, as soon as I get home. Just eating the chocs left in my room. lol

3 monkies - 13 Mar 2013 22:27 - 22291 of 81564

I don't think they will have a good time for ONE OR TWO MINUTES in Prison unless they are kept in Solitary Confinment. I am not saying that they are not gettting their just deserves but I would not want to be in their shoes no matter at what cost. I do not relish the fact that we will be paying for their board and lodgings. They have done wrong and so they should pay - Humilliciation could suffice. Whatever I am pleased to say that I am not corrupt in any way shape or form.

3 monkies - 13 Mar 2013 22:33 - 22292 of 81564

Book me in your suitcase DC for next year haha!!! Do not think your wife would like that. Hope you have had a good time and enjoy tomorrow. Chocs what are they - fattening - good job you can dog walk then off.

dreamcatcher - 13 Mar 2013 22:37 - 22293 of 81564

Lol 3m, as long as you are not over 20kgs. :-))

Haystack - 13 Mar 2013 22:44 - 22294 of 81564

The attorney general is considering appealing their sentence as being unduly light.

3 monkies - 13 Mar 2013 22:52 - 22295 of 81564

Whatever Haystack - at the end of the day they perverted the course of justice- they knew better.

3 monkies - 13 Mar 2013 22:55 - 22296 of 81564

Would 9 stone 6lbs be suitable DC at the moment to stow away. Good job we can laugh and get away from the doom and gloom.

greekman - 14 Mar 2013 08:08 - 22297 of 81564

Some people are saying that a none custodial sentence would have been sufficient.
Both Hulme and Pryce are multi millionaires, so fining them even if possible (its not as far as I am aware an option re perjury) would have no effect unless it was over £1,000,000. Community service, now that would be a laugh.

Factors to be considered in the offence punishment.

1 the number of offences.
2 whether planned or spontaneous
3 whether they were persisted in
4 whether the lies told or fabrications embarked upon had any actual impact on the proceedings in question.
5 whether the activities of the offender drew in others
6 the relationship between others drawn in and the offender
7 the whole course of conduct

2 to 7 inclusive fitted their actions, so 6 out of 7 is a pretty high score.

In reality they could serve just 1 month and then be allowed un escorted home visits with sleep overs, to help them adjust to realaties of home life, then fully released in a further month, although why would they need to adjust after only 2 months is farsical.

They should at least serve half their sentences of 4 months.
