THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

There you go Fred

Two Eds still have no clue on the economy

By Daily Mail Comment

PUBLISHED:00:47, 22 March 2013| UPDATED:17:00, 22 March 2013But, when it came to explaining what Labour would do differently, there was only the prospect of more borrowing and more debt – the exact policies that got us into this mess in the first place.

For an insight into what might happen in a Britain run by Labour look to France, where Socialist President Francois Hollande is already pursuing the keep-spending-and-bash-the-rich policies so beloved of Mr Balls and Ed Miliband.

Unsurprisingly, wealth creators are deserting in droves and, yesterday, it was revealed that business activity in France had shrunk at the fastest rate for four years – with experts predicting the economy will contract by 0.7 per cent this year, and fall into a third recession.

Yes, Mr Osborne still has a mountain to climb. But the alternative – the two Eds – is nothing short of terrifying.

WHAT ABOUT THE ABOVE OR HAVE YOU TAKEN YOUR GLASSES OFF ?

dreamcatcher - 23 Mar 2013 21:52 - 22467 of 81564

WE WOULD BE RATED JUNK CLASS UNDER LABOUR 6 MONTHS AGO AND BUST.

dreamcatcher - 23 Mar 2013 22:08 - 22468 of 81564

As you keep posting about the Labour party Fred. I take it when the next election comes up you will stroll down your local voting station and put your cross where it says Labour. If you are so behind Labours policies, can I ask what stops you voting them ? I have no trouble voting the Cons, so whats your trouble? Just does not add up, very odd/strange if I may say so. Something is not ringing true with you. I thought with your views for Labour and against the Cons you would be camping outside the polling station a week before it opened. :-))

Ps, Don't worry about your dress sense no one will laugh.

Dreams,

Instead of buying chip paper, have a gentle read of :

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/mar/24/osborne-turns-to-keynes

"The chancellor is for turning after all. And, whisper it, he's switching to Keynes
Faced with the failure of austerity policies, he is about to quietly try out some rather interventionist ideas"

Haystack - 24 Mar 2013 11:22 - 22476 of 81564

You surely can't be taking anything seriously that you have read in the Guardian.

Fred1new - 24 Mar 2013 12:12 - 22477 of 81564

Sure I can, but I try to evaluate what is written and discard what isn't plausible.

A bit different from being an apparatchik of party head office repeating old handed down populist mantras to soothe the souls of a party in revolt. (Should that be at present the revolting party.)

When you look at the state of the tory party you can see why Cameron gave up his PR job.

Why did he pick on being and MP as a substitute occupation?

dreamcatcher - 24 Mar 2013 12:33 - 22478 of 81564

“Selective Hearing”

Selective hearing is a way of describing the tendency of some people to ignore things that they do not want to hear. It is not a physiological or physical condition, as they are physically hearing the words, but their mind is choosing not to acknowledge what is being said. In many cases, the conscious mind does not appear to receive the information, so it is different than an active ignoring of speech. Rather, it is a sort of selective inattention that may be done consciously or subconsciously.

Dreams,

That was a little too intelligent for you.

Where did you copy and paste from?

Immigrant families will be kept off council house waiting lists for up to five years under a crackdown being unveiled by Prime Minister David Cameron.
and about time too! .... why this was not brought in during Year 1 of this administration, heaven only knows, for the country has rightly been complaining about the soft treatment given to immigrants for many years - didn't that last gov't do well!

Haystack - 24 Mar 2013 16:07 - 22481 of 81564

The big scandal regarding immigration was when emails and internal Labour docements were leaked showing that the Labour party had a secret agenda to bring in large numbers of foreigners to change the demographics of the UK. They felt that immigrants would be more likely to vote Labour.
