I see it has again all been happening while we have been slumbering, on the Euro and the pound

hilary - 08 Dec 2004 07:16 - 2248 of 11056

You need to be very careful with your entry today, imo, T. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread and all that. Handsitting for now.

Tellon - 08 Dec 2004 07:16 - 2249 of 11056

BOJ Intervention?

mg - 08 Dec 2004 07:23 - 2250 of 11056

Tora Tora ........

Now that 400 has gone I'm looking for at least 300 to be challenged today.

;)

Bobcolby - 08 Dec 2004 07:52 - 2251 of 11056

cable is too much of a gamble at this time. Xmas cards and golf today.

Tellon - 08 Dec 2004 08:09 - 2252 of 11056

Just gone short myself on cable and short about 15mins ago on euro.. Hope it continues down..

mg - 08 Dec 2004 08:37 - 2253 of 11056

Tellon
Nice trade

I just closed both of mine - one for 200, the other for 230 - makes up a bit for last weeks bad trading - but I'm still down overall on my little cable adventure. Just shows how deeply in the do-do I was trying to fight it.

Have reversed to see if I can pick up a few back to 300

mg - 08 Dec 2004 08:46 - 2254 of 11056

Now flat

chocolat - 08 Dec 2004 08:59 - 2255 of 11056

Superb mg - whatever you do, don't mention do-do. ;)
Finally shorted jippy at 103.9 (stop in *gulp*)

mg - 08 Dec 2004 13:47 - 2256 of 11056

Whooooooooah - GBP/USD really making up for it. Unfortunately I held off going short again - had 350 as a programmed short open - 330 would have been a better target and that would have been a cracker.

Be interesting to see if it pauses at 200 like it did on the 3/12.

Way more exciting than the indices - great if you're on the right side of it but absolutely wicked if you get wrong footed.

I think I'm hooked ;)

chocolat - 08 Dec 2004 15:21 - 2257 of 11056

stopped out of jyppy this morning :(

mg - 08 Dec 2004 16:47 - 2258 of 11056

Bad luck choccy ;(

5 minute chart for GBP/USD looking interesting - if it doesn't break through then we could well be looking at sub-200 fairly soon.

mg - 08 Dec 2004 17:02 - 2259 of 11056

Trying a short from 290 - tight stop in place.

Maggot - 08 Dec 2004 17:21 - 2260 of 11056

Also short, from 288, with a very tight thong (sorry, stop). But it's got to be regarded as speculative with a chart like this. A gold short looks more inviting at the moment.

Maggot - 08 Dec 2004 17:28 - 2261 of 11056

Out at 300, and I guess your stop has now been hit, mg? Dollar has also just dropped a bit against the yen.

mg - 08 Dec 2004 17:32 - 2262 of 11056

Maggot
Yup - think I'd better leave this alone for today - no point in giving it back - it had more than enough out of me last week. It's supposed to be my turn this week ;)

Maggot - 08 Dec 2004 17:33 - 2263 of 11056

Yes - they don't play fair, do they?

mg - 08 Dec 2004 17:37 - 2264 of 11056

Serves me right - that 5 minute trend had held for ages - instead of shorting it was an obvious long breakout. Got my shorters head on - must remember I can long as well ;(

Maggot - 08 Dec 2004 18:10 - 2265 of 11056

mg. The overall trend today is down, and there was resistance at 290, so surely a short was reasonable? Not sure what you mean when you say the 5-minute trend had held for ages. Anyway, it's all over the place now...

mg - 08 Dec 2004 18:20 - 2266 of 11056

Maggot - sorry - I'm looking at the netdania.com 5 minute chart which, as you say, was showing a lovely downtrend line from 4:00 am this morning. Every move back up was proving too much to get through the downtrending range line.

Apart, that is, from when we got that recent move - which burst through the upper trend line. It's coming back down a bit now but I have a feeling that it might be attempting to form an upward trending range from the 19200 low. If it breaks back through 19300 then that would have failed - all IMHO, of course.
