Greetings

stockbunny - 17 Jan 2005 15:02 - 22486 of 23498

I know JJ - I'm stunned to be honest, I had great faith in Norton
and now I'm debating whether to shift firewall/virus protection provider
so if anyone's got a favourite let me know.
How's things with you JJ? Is everything dried out? Must be by now
I hope.

JeffMack in the legendary spirit of 'Bread' I'll respond with 'NEXT!'
;>)

hilary - 17 Jan 2005 15:15 - 22487 of 23498

I'd be surprised if it's Norton that's turning your machine off. It's more likely that it's getting a bit warm and the thermostat is causing it to turn off.

Is it a laptop? Is it next to any other equipment which might be blocking airflow? Have you tried hoovering the vent for the fan to get rid of any dust build-up?

jeffmack - 17 Jan 2005 15:20 - 22488 of 23498

You girls should be good at hoovering, its in the genes

stockbunny - 17 Jan 2005 15:57 - 22489 of 23498

I see JeffMack fancies a sparring match this afternoon.....
so I ask myself Am I in the mood to take on his provocative remarks
made in good humoured banter?
And I've decided Nah...So I'll just reach for my trusty soda syphon
and give him a quick SQUIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
;>)

stockbunny - 17 Jan 2005 16:23 - 22490 of 23498

OK happy people - I'm outta here, stuff to do.
Have a great evening :>)

jj50 - 17 Jan 2005 16:48 - 22491 of 23498

You too bunny!

Hilary, never thought of that, shall see if I can find a duster and
remember how to use the hoover and give it a go - or then again
I could ask jeffmack for advice on hoovering :-)) It is a laptop
and I have now cleared away all the paperwork from behind it
so shall see if that does the trick - thanks.

Socrates - 17 Jan 2005 16:57 - 22492 of 23498

Hello all. Everybody closed their PTG shorts yet?

Priscilla - 17 Jan 2005 17:07 - 22493 of 23498

I've been too busy on cake duty, Socs. Has anybody seen Lambykins? We can't start the party without him.....

Fundamentalist - 17 Jan 2005 17:10 - 22494 of 23498

Spaceman - 17 Jan 2005 17:56 - 22497 of 23498

Jet Lag got the better of Lambykins and me for a few hours !

Lambykins will be back here soon but at the moment he is eating loads of P's lovely Lemon Drizzle cake.

Thanks for the welcome home messages, wish the weather was a bit better, we have just driven from Sevenoaks to Hastings in pouring rain and in the dark!

Stockbunny, I dont know the details of you PC problems but I can probably help sort them out if they are still not sorted. Let me know if I can help.

Priscilla - 17 Jan 2005 18:55 - 22498 of 23498

Welcome back, Spacey and I'm glad to see Lamby found the jug of extra lemon sauce for his cake. Hopefully he will let Socs have a dribble of sauce too!

Socrates - 17 Jan 2005 19:12 - 22499 of 23498

I've got plenty of mint sauce!

Time to pop a cork or two, VC Priscilla?

Priscilla - 17 Jan 2005 19:15 - 22500 of 23498

Now you're talking, Socs.....I'll get some glasses

Socrates - 17 Jan 2005 19:19 - 22501 of 23498

It's OK Priscilla, I've got mine on. I can see OK.

Priscilla - 17 Jan 2005 19:21 - 22502 of 23498

Did you get lots of lovely prezzies to mark your birthday?

jeffmack - 17 Jan 2005 19:23 - 22503 of 23498

The old sops are in...

Priscilla - 17 Jan 2005 19:28 - 22504 of 23498

OK, Jeffmack.....I've got the dictionary beside me.....
sop = a stupid or weak person

but a 'sophist' is any of a group of pre-Socratic professional philosophers or b) any of a group of latr philosophers who made an art of effective but misleading argument. c) a person who uses clever or quibbling but unsound arguments.

Which definition were you using?

(Be very careful here, jeffie, my lad!)
