SC:

I've seen and used one of those LG Flatron L1715 TFTs: it's superb, and 204 sounds like a great price.

Cheers

Thanks Derek, I have a twin screen output so will probably buy one. Must go to bed now, keeping you and Spaceman up until all hours !!

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2004 00:25 - 2265 of 11003

SC, I dont do normal hours ;-) nor does Derek !

chocolat - 20 Oct 2004 00:26 - 2266 of 11003

I've just cleaned up my XP PC at work - and today, as I was flicking between sites on Mam, I got this macromedia flash-up. I cancelled it, and it didn't seem to affect anything - is this normal?
Sorry, I don't know much :(

PS it's never happened on my 2K PC here.

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2004 00:27 - 2267 of 11003

chocolat, MAM do sometimes have flash ads, they are the one I find the most annoying and are the reason I now use ad blocking software.

PS whats work?

chocolat - 20 Oct 2004 00:34 - 2268 of 11003

Space - I used to have the google blocker - now it's something else (can't remember - is it MSN windows?) and yes, when I log into Mam, the blocker tells me about it. But this macromedia thingie was invoking me to download something.

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2004 00:38 - 2269 of 11003

chocolat, the google toolbar has a pop up ad blocker (probably replaced by the XP sp2 pop up blocker) but it and the XP one only stop some types of pop ups.

I dont know which one you had but I know MAM have (or had) a GNI flash ad recently. Your Browser is probably trying to run it and saying it needs an add in which it wants to download, thats probably what you cancelled and it should not cause any problems.

You didnt tell me what work is ??? ;-)

Kayak - 20 Oct 2004 00:38 - 2270 of 11003

chocolat, it's just asking you to download the flash player. Flash is a type of multimedia format, a bit like video, that is used in a number of places including advertising. Safe to download and you will eventually have to for something.

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2004 00:39 - 2271 of 11003

chocolat, as K says its safe to download but you may find your work does not allow it to install.

chocolat - 20 Oct 2004 00:44 - 2272 of 11003

So if it happens again, I should download it?

I didn't notice the work thingie first time, Space - it's what we late night saddos have to do during the day to fill in the time. ;)

Edit: oops thanks guys, didn't see your posts.

>> MoneyAM Homepage Consuming High CPU Resources

Wondered if anybody else has this problem, or can help explain. Thanks.

My Int Explorer is consuming over 50% CPU resources, when on the MoneyAM Homepage. Opening 2 instances, max's out the CPU. Thats how I noticed it, PC was very slow when I opened a few IE6's (my homepage is set to am homepage).

No problem when I move to Traders Room page, or a whole selection of other sites, including d4f Spreadbet lite.

This PC is a P2 350 on Win98 and IE6. But trying one MoneyAM homepage on a faster PC, eg P3 800 on Win2000 & IE6, still ties-up 15% CPU resources, which is a lot higher than any other site / page.

Any comments / help / pointers/ etc much appreciated.

Regards, D.

folks...i seem to ahve the US setting on my keyboard at home.......how do i change it..if i want the # key i get something different.......any ideas?

Piptrader - 20 Oct 2004 12:34 - 2275 of 11003

Treble: Assuming XP. Go to Control Panel - Regional & Language Options - select English(United Kingdom).

Note, if you've got two language options selected, you can switch between them using LeftAlt+Shift, which you may have done by accident.

Treblewide - 20 Oct 2004 12:35 - 2276 of 11003

cheers pip will give it a try!

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2004 12:47 - 2277 of 11003

Dieng, its probably the ads !

S A W - 20 Oct 2004 13:25 - 2278 of 11003

Thanks 7thfloor.Removing winxp2 worked a treat ,my comp. is a bit slower .Any ideas?

7thFloor - 20 Oct 2004 15:56 - 2279 of 11003

SAW

Try to clean out your unnesessary data/temp files (particularily web cache) and then de-frag your disk using the XP tools for these 2 tasks. I use Fix-It myself but I understand that XP Cleanup & De-frag work well. Your data's probably all over the place now. That should make it quicker.

You are doing plenty of back ups aren't you?

Seymour Clearly - 20 Oct 2004 23:13 - 2280 of 11003

Folks, just to go back to my TFT screen question last night, how do I adjust the refresh rate?

The on screen menu has a display at the bottom which says
2: Digital Input
Resolution1024x768 75Hz
Optimum 1280x1024 60Hz

It also has options for Brightness, (positioning not available), image settings, color (sic) settings, osd settings, language, (audio not available), factory reset.

Have tried the factory reset to no avail.

I remember the display being crisper that my old Iiyama crt screen - well it isn't now, and the warranty's nearly up!

Can anyone help?

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2004 23:17 - 2281 of 11003

Sc, you need the 60Hz setting I dont know how you set it on that screen though? you should be able to set the graphics card to 60hz from Right Click on the desktop then select properties then settings then advanced then under the monitor tab.
