Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

It is interesting to see France using the same policies that Labour would use on our economy. They are sinking into the abyss and Hollande now has only 27% support amongst voters. We are fortunate that the public were not persuaded to vote Labour.
http://m.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/mar/29/president-francois-hollande-france-support
Underscoring the gloom, the government announced Friday that France missed its deficit target for 2012 of 4.5 percent of gross domestic product, hitting 4.8 percent, as total government debt rose to 90.2 percent of G.D.P. from 85.8 percent in 2011.
With rocketing unemployment, stagnant growth and record-low personal popularity ratings, Hollande made a direct appeal for the French population to cut him some slack, given the scale of the country's problems.
Ten months into his mandate, Hollande has the worst presidential popularity rating since 1981, according to a TNS Sofres poll for the centre-right Le Figaro magazine. Surveys show the French president has the support of only 27% of voters.
Even leftwing supporters who backed Hollande in the May 2012 elections have been questioning his handling of the economy, which is teetering on the brink of recession amid a spate of industrial layoffs and unemployment at a 15-year high. Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault's rating also fell 5 points to 28%.
Unemployment figures on Tuesday showed the number of jobless rose to 3.17 million last month, the highest since July 1997. Hollande has admitted that stuttering growth would make it harder to fulfil his pledge to stem the rise in unemployment by the end of 2013.

I for one have an obsession about leaving lights on when not necessary - I hate giving unnecessary money to electricty companies. I often wonder when Christmas comes how people can afford all the decorative (some competitive) lights they have outside their homes!!!!! Perhaps that is me being tight. I do agree with cynic about office lights - by the same token do all the royals need lights blaring away in practically every room in view to the public - not that I am against Royals. So much wasted money is spent in security with past obviously more past than present Prime Ministers Security, it is obscene. It would be a better idea to make cuts in all that crap than keep griping on about NHS cuts etc.

I am very disappointed with all you so calleed males out there who have not got the guts to agree with my last post, however it does not surprise me. Why are we paying for past PM's security - e.g. John Major living in Luxury in Norfolk? He is only onne? Many more are in and around our country. We now are facing benefit cuts poor people etc. So why is this so!!!! ! Too much monies going to the rich and not enough to the needy! Not worried whether you agree or not - as sure as hell I will make it an issue.

Royal Navy News.
The Royal Navy is proud of its new fleet of Type 45 destroyers. Having initially named the first two ships HMS Daring and HMS Dauntless, the Naming Committee has, after intensive pressure from Brussels , renamed them HMS Cautious and HMS Prudence.
The next five ships are to be named HMS Empathy, HMS Circumspect, HMS Nervous, HMS Timorous and HMS Apologist.
Costing £850 million each, they meet the needs of the 21st century and comply with the very latest employment, equality, health & safety and human rights laws.
The new user-friendly crow's nest comes equipped with wheelchair access. Live ammunition has been replaced with paintballs to reduce the risk of anyone getting hurt and to cut down on the number of compensation claims. Stress counsellors and lawyers will be on duty 24hrs a day and each ship will have its on-board industrial tribunal.
The crew will be 50/50 men and women, and balanced in accordance with the latest Home Office directives on race, gender, sexuality and disability. Sailors will only have to work a maximum of 37hrs per week in line with Brussels Health & Safety rules, even in wartime! All the vessels will come equipped with a maternity ward and nursery, situated on the same deck as the Gay Disco.
Tobacco will be banned throughout the ship, but cannabis will be allowed in the wardroom and messes. The Royal Navy is eager to shed its traditional reputation for; "Rum, sodomy and the lash"; so out has gone the occasional rum ration which is to be replaced by sparkling water. Although sodomy remains, it has now been extended to include all ratings under 18. The lash will still be available but only on
request. Condoms can be obtained from the Bosun in a variety of flavours, except Capstan Full Strength.
Saluting officers has been abolished because it is deemed elitist and is to be replaced by the more informal, "Hello Sailor". All information on notices boards will be printed in 37 different languages and Braille. Crew members will now no longer be required to
ask permission to grow beards or moustaches and this applies equally to women crew members.
The MoD is working on a new "non-specific" flag because the White Ensign is considered to be offensive to minorities. The Union Flag had already been discarded.
The newly re-named HMS Cautious is due to be commissioned soon in a ceremony conducted by Captain Hook from the Finsbury Park Mosque who will break a petrol bomb over the hull. She will gently slide into the water as the Royal Marines Band plays "In the Navy" by the Village People.
Her first deployment will be to escort boat loads of illegal immigrants across the channel to ports on England 's south coast.
The Prime Minister said, "While these ships reflect the very latest in modern thinking, they are also capable of being up-graded to comply with any new legislation coming out of Brussels ."
His final words were, "Britannia waives the rules."

The wording of the letter that landed on Nick Clegg’s desk almost exactly two years ago makes clear the desperation of its sender.
Complaining about the ‘improper’ behaviour of one of his MPs — renowned womaniser Mike Hancock — it was sent by recorded delivery on March 9, 2011, to the Liberal Democrat headquarters in Cowley Street, Westminster.
‘What he did to me is shocking,’ wrote 37-year-old Annie from Portsmouth in Hampshire — whose real name can’t be revealed for legal reasons.

3m ...... i think there are very good security reasons why ex PMs and the like have continuing security once they leave office, whether or not they have their own assets, usually in bricks and mortar and the like .... surely you do not require that to be explained?
benefit cuts
there'll always be a level at which some people will be in the grey area on the fringe; it cannot be avoided under any system ..... more to the point, perhaps you should question whether or not benefits should indeed be a lifetime sinecure as you imply - and yes, i do know it is very difficult for many to find work, especially for those who left school barely able to read and write (often if not usually their own or their parents' fault)
i'll refrain from rabbiting further about the futility and stupidity of children with limited academic ability being persuaded to go to 3rd-rate unis to get 5th-rate degrees that are totally useless in the real world
==============
btw, i have at last got my recipe for jambon persille properly sorted ..... loin of pork stuffed with brandy-soaked prunes and walnuts is pretty good too!
