Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

markymar - 03 Dec 2003 11:36

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Hi all

DES made another nice gain today. I will post a long term chart, which shows a longer term 200 day moving average. If you look at the chart, you can see even though DES is down from the peak of the chart. DES has still made gains of about 228%. The chart also shows when DES moved up through the 200 day moving average, which was the first time for many years. DES has recently moved back up through the 200 day moving average again, the difference is the 200 day moving average is at 0.3321p. The last time DES moved up through the 200 day moving average it was at about 0.0750p. DES went on to peak at 0.6900p. So if this is anything to go by, then we should see DES shoot through this level. The 10 day moving average is currently above the 200 day moving average and the 20 & 50 day are about to follow. There are a few resistance areas along the way, but if the market is commited these should be short lived.

Here is a 3 year chart with candles of 1 months value. You can see from this chart where the resistanece started and also where the market has come back to give support December 2005.

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=DES&Si

Here is a 6 month chart with candles of 1 days value. The peaks as you can see are getting higher. The trend as you can see has been moving up since December 2005.

Hi All,

Eddie thank you for the chart up dates, it does look like we have momentum in the share price and is definitely on the move up wards and only a matter of time to break through the 40p area.

I see British Bulls have now confirmed that Desire is a ,Buy now and we should see the price tick up as other times they have called it a Buy it has done quiet well.

CONFIRMED

Peak do seem to have every thing covered on there side and seem to be able to secure rigs for other companies in a tight rig market so fingers crossed its only a matter of time for us.

Falklands : Mineral Resources Committee Report for March
Submitted by Falkland Islands News Network (Juanita Brock) 26.03.2006 (Current Article)
Find out what happened during this important committee meeting.

MINERAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE MEETING

(23 March 2006)

By J. Brock (FINN)

A meeting of the Mineral Resources Committee took place at 1500hrs on Thursday, 23 March 2006. Present were Cllr. A. Clausen, Councillor R. Cockwell, Mrs. Phyl Rendell, Director of Mineral Resources and Agriculture, Mr. David Lang QC, Attorney General, Mr. Chris Simpkins, Chief Executive and Mrs. Katrina Stephenson, who took the minutes.

There were no apologies for absence and no matters arising from the previous meeting held on 20 December 2005.

Mrs. Rendell then gave a report on Activities of the Mineral Resources Department since the meeting on 20 December 2005. She listed a further visit from John Armstrong and Richard Liddell of Falkland Islands Oil and Gas as well as chairman Designate, Tim Bushell. The men gave the Department of Mineral Resources a full briefing on findings from the 2002 and 2004 seismic in FOGLs licensed areas.

She went on to say that a team of four from Desire Petroleum Plc also visited the Falklands with the results of the Environmental Impact Assessment in the North Falkland Basin. There was frustration because Desire is ready to drill but cannot find a suitable rig. When one is found the drilling can happen immediately. While waiting, Desire are tying up all the loose ends and getting everything in place to have a seamless transition from the search for a rig to beginning the drilling effort.

Also visiting since the last meeting was Dr. Phil Richards of British Geological Survey, who is the Falkland Islands Governments consultant. He had an overview of offshore and onshore exploration, with a trip to Goose Green to see Falklands Gold and Minerals Limiteds operations.

FOGLs 2D survey in the South Falkland Basin of 25,000 sq km is nearly complete, with Rockhopper Exploration in the north using the GSI Pacific prior to the Illex season beginning in mid February. Rockhopper also acquired electromagnetic Data, a first for the Falklands, using a company called Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping. Their vessel, M/V Aurelia called into Stanley several times prior to leaving the zone.

Onshore, FGML is up to date in their East Falkland Drilling programme around Goose Green, with some sampling work being done on West Falkland. Richard Linnell, the Company Chairman, visited the site prior to going to London for a Company board meeting.

Mrs. Rendell and Cllr Clausen will be visiting Huston Texas to attend the AAPG annual conference from 9 to 13 April 2006. Sam Moody of Rockhopper Exploration will also be attending. Prior to the Huston meeting, Cllr Clausen and Mrs. Rendell will be meeting Health and Safety Executive officials in London, as well as DTI officials as they play an important role in offering advice on how wells should be drilled. While in London the two will be visiting FOGLs offices and those of BSP, Argos and Desire Petroleum.

Prior to the exclusion of press and public the budget for 2006/07 was presented with an increase in revenue of 100,000.00 due to additional licence awards and acreage rental. Expenditure was for hydrocarbons consultancies, as well as 10,000.00 for the Health and Safety Executive budget. BGS had requested a budget of 276,000.00 but due to budget constraints, 250,000.00 was allocated. As such it is an increase of 20,000.00

Data interpretation also ate into the budget, with some older data being sold to help offset the costs.

There was no date set for the next meeting.

markymar - 27 Mar 2006 09:25 - 2274 of 6492

Capt like to have a guess?

Data interpretation also ate into the budget, with some older data being sold to help offset the costs.

Makes you wonder who else is that interested to buy older data, could the older data be Desires 2D or Shells 3D or Argos 2D?

Captguns - 27 Mar 2006 10:38 - 2275 of 6492

Not much to go on Marky,

The Dept. of mineral resources / BGS do not own any exclusive data to my knowledge.
Maybe they get a commission on some of the older spec. data.??

RKH, must have bought some as it was part of the licence deal.
Initial term of 3 years:Acquire and interpret existing data over acreage, within 12 months of licence issue.Acquire 640 km of seismic data.

I'm pretty sure both Fogl. and Bor. would have purchased some of the old spec. data as well.

The BGS acting for the Falklands government would, I expect get a data set (or partial data set) of any seismic shot. (But not for re-sale)

Best I can do Markymar.

markymar - 27 Mar 2006 13:45 - 2276 of 6492

Cheers Capt,

Good to see some big buys today, should help the SP move forward and break through the 40p this week.

markymar - 28 Mar 2006 12:58 - 2277 of 6492

Good see a large buy of 775,000

berlingo - 28 Mar 2006 14:55 - 2278 of 6492

I`ve had mail from SVC securities? trying to tempt me with a report on Desire that they have supposedly done. Probably a ruse to tempt me to invest via their Company. Anyone else had this ?
Thanks for all updates from usual posters ,Eddie ,Marky etc
Regards Berlingo

berlingo - 28 Mar 2006 19:33 - 2279 of 6492

Higher volume . More buys then sells i think . Getting interesting !

eddieshare - 28 Mar 2006 20:39 - 2280 of 6492

Hi all

Well yes more volume but no price movement unfortunatly. DES is still looking good with the 10, 20, 50 day moving averages still moving up. The 200 day moving average has droped a little though. Todays candle is one of indecision, the candle shown on Britishbulls.com is the one I have (not the one on moneyam). Britishbulls.com have DES on a sell if, but confirmation is required though. The 0.4000p is where the resistance is, this may be tested upto three times. DES is sitting just above the 10 day moving average, so the support seems to be there still.

luckyswimmer - 28 Mar 2006 22:26 - 2281 of 6492

Berlingo, I had the same offer from SVC securities but there report is more about the oil price and AIM stocks in general. They just copied the latest news releases from Desire and so could have assembled the report in 5 lazy minutes, definitely an unprofessional group.

Very pleased to see the 775k purchase today.

berlingo - 29 Mar 2006 16:18 - 2282 of 6492

Hi All,
Thanks Luckyswimmer,i thought it was another one of 'those' companies but it`s
nice to get a second opinion .
There is definitately a feel good factor about DES at the moment . Price is
holding up well and some large buys going through , does make you wonder
that something positive going on in the offices of PEAK !?
Good luck everyone and thanks to all regulars . Come on you DES .

eddieshare - 29 Mar 2006 23:56 - 2283 of 6492

Hi all

Thanks to all for the updates.

DES made a another move up today. The sell if was not confirmed. The 10 day moving average has dipped a little though. The market appears to be giving support, an attempt on the 0.4000p looks to be on the cards. DES has re-joined the main part of the chart today and has managed to close on the days high. With this in mind, I think we may see a bit more support for DES. DES is currently 60% up from the recent lows, dating back to December.

markymar - 30 Mar 2006 11:43 - 2284 of 6492

Thanks for update Eddie

I see that the Pride Venezuela comes off contract in May 06

Also Pride South Seas is under contract to Petro until 31 July 2006 so still options there for Desire.

mbugger - 30 Mar 2006 19:46 - 2285 of 6492

Aur,you are still away looking for the oil rig ,no need ,every one is looking for the oil rig ,even Peak,an aussie outfit, even Rhp,when one comes, there will be an turbo boost to the s.p.

KEAYDIAN - 30 Mar 2006 21:23 - 2286 of 6492

aur - 01 Apr 2006 08:06 - 2287 of 6492

i say we drill in 2008

eddieshare - 03 Apr 2006 23:21 - 2288 of 6492

Hi all

DES lost some of the gains today. The moving averages have started to drop a little, the volume also. Britishbulls.com confirmed the sell if today. The 0.4000p resistance may take a little while to crack. We should have support at about 0.3500p. There was support towards the end of todays trading, this is the small shadow on the bottom of todays candle.
