THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Volunteers in a different sense of the word. You will have to put in for the managers job.

goldfinger - 03 Apr 2013 22:31 - 22751 of 81564

3 monkies yes I give 10 hours per week aswel online on the http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/
site.

You should see some of the appaling situations I have to counsel/advise in my volountary position.

On average just over 20 suicides per week since this government came to power.

Would open the eyes of the right wing loons here.

These are disabled sick people who are being backed into a corner by an extreme cruel government who should be balancing the books by looking and acting on the other side of the equation ie, TAX COLLECTION which they make certain claims but have done nothing.

3 monkies - 03 Apr 2013 22:40 - 22752 of 81564

I am not in a shop and don't want a shop job. I don't want a salary as pay enough Income Tax and an not going to loose my works pension at my age. I was enjoying what I have been doing but things are getting rather complicated, will soon learn the changes etc. I hope. I have faith hahaha!!!

Haystack - 03 Apr 2013 22:45 - 22753 of 81564

How many suicides under Labour? If you don't know then your comment 'under this government' is totally meaningless as most of your other comments. Once again the application of logic has escaped you.

An interesting statistic is that nearly a million people claiming disabled benefit have withdrawen their claims rather than be tested. That sounds like people who knew they should not be getting the benefit at all.

3 monkies - 03 Apr 2013 22:51 - 22754 of 81564

GF - I come home pretty destroyed some times myself and am certain there are going to more suicides as sure as eggs are eggs. The government does need to be looking in different areas. I am as aware as you that there are people swinging the system but a majority are desparate needy people who have very little and need the extra help to be cared for at home. A lot of our people are elderly and too proud to claim and have worked all their lives. We have a lot of good results but a lot of knock backs - i.e. a lady 90 yrs of aged was refused help. Makes my blood crawl.

Haystack - 03 Apr 2013 22:59 - 22755 of 81564

The suicide rate is about normal for the UK. It is up and down each year. The previous highest rate was in 2002 when Labour were in power.

Chris Carson - 03 Apr 2013 23:53 - 22756 of 81564

GF - Not looking for an argument, but really you do talk shite! council tax, ground rent, office supplies? How about Sky Sports, Movies that these people can miraculously afford, 20 fags a day plus spending time in the pubs. Lets have another child and claim more child benefit. The problem thanks to the last Labour Govt escalated well out of control and unfortunately it's the children produced that are suffering. Frankly any suicides of these so called parents good riddance to bad rubbish, the unfortunate offsprings left behind are better off without them. Harsh but true. It's a cruel world, prime example Ed Milliband shafting his own brother and his partner in crime Edd Balls, now there's a surname to conjure with, at least his wife has a iota of common sense sticking with her maiden name. History repeats Cons become complacent in power, electorate vote Labour despite the odds, fxxk up the economy and the whole circus regurgitates yet again. Galls me to say it, Tanker has a point vote UKIP. Or if your name is Fred1 New Keep The Red Flag Flying High. Tosser! Rant over!

Haystack - 04 Apr 2013 00:04 - 22757 of 81564

The £53 pound figure is nonsense. The guy that started it all off has now admitted that he gets £156 per week and also gets housing benefit and working tax credit. There have been complaints about the original BBC interview because they did not do enough research on the guy.

goldfinger - 04 Apr 2013 02:03 - 22758 of 81564

Chris Im sorry mate but youve been taking in too far much right wing propaganda from the right wing press no doubt.

We all know that yes their will be skivers shirkers etc etc, but believe me these people are in the minority but are magnified by the press.

If you were to believe the SUN today they make out I D Smith was a normal average working class boy, a boy who joined the forces as a squady.

Fact is his father was Group Captain in the Royal Air Force and his mother was a Balerina. They were in fact stinking rich.

He joined the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst and was subsequently commissioned into the Scots Guards for a position as an officer........ends

Just goes to show how the right wing press manipulate people and the way George (Giddeon) Osbourne seeks to divide and rule working class ordinary people.

goldfinger - 04 Apr 2013 02:03 - 22759 of 81564

Cynic the challenge still stands.

ps, is this true???.........

cynic- 03 Apr 2013 18:49 - 22731 of 22761

actually, i don't think i have to pay for my prescriptions now i'm over 65.....ends

My god you must have aged then since those photos you posted on here 2 years ago ,you know the ones were you showed you and your buddies cycling on your bikes .

You taking some kind of miracle anti aging pills?.

Anyway the challenge still stands, are you up for it?? or do you want to duck out?.

cynic - 04 Apr 2013 06:28 - 22760 of 81564

no, it's good genes! ... i think you'll find i still look near as dammit the same (67 end july) .... if i could work out how to post pix here, i'ld put up another from last year's trip to prove the point .... this year, it'll be the usual +/-200 miles just south of the loire - loches (just south of tours), valencay, buzancais, poitiers, parthenay, loudun and back to loches

i'm happy to do a food budget for a week
how much will you allow me? ...... i think £20 from £56 may be a bit heavy

i doubt very much that i'll have time to go to the s'market today and i'm off tomorrow to see number one son + d-in-l + 2 beasts .... however, i have already formulated in my mind a balanced shopping list to eat properly for a week = breakfast, lunch, dinner ..... i'll write it out and post later

cynic - 04 Apr 2013 07:25 - 22761 of 81564

with reluctance (i hate the place) i'll go to sainsbury's as it'll be a bit cheaper than waitrose, but i'll also use my local farm shop and possibly butcher too ...... we have a market in marlow every week which will be cheaper than even sainsbury's for some items, but it's on a wednesday so been and gone

prodman - 04 Apr 2013 07:35 - 22762 of 81564

cynic- You liked it when it was Waitrose. ;-)

cynic - 04 Apr 2013 07:39 - 22763 of 81564

it wasn't great (bit tatty and tacky) though i know it was one of the best performing stores in the group ..... Beloved goes to beaconsfield, and i too have been there ..... that is a very good s'market, but then i believe it is one of the flagship stores

sainsbury's completely missed plot and trick when opening in marlow ..... it's a huge site, but it's not aimed nearly high enough - to put it as gently as i can

greekman - 04 Apr 2013 07:50 - 22764 of 81564

Previously posted on a different thread but many might not have seen it.

Of course there are no benifits being paid to those that do not deserve them!

goldfinger - 04 Apr 2013 08:09 - 22765 of 81564

CYNIC CHICKENED OUT I SEE. He knows the challenge is for 52 weeks or more and isnt just about food.

Like I said when shove comes to push these gobby right wingers couldnt do what disabled/sick real poor people are having to do day in day out for not just 52 weeks but far more in most cases.

All wind and -iss.

cynic - 04 Apr 2013 08:13 - 22766 of 81564

love it greek ... are you sure it's not a hangover from 1st april?

============

sticky (and 3m)
my provisional shopping list is as below ......

protein
3/4/5 from 7 ..... chicken livers, belly pork, ham hock, lamb breast, pulses (prob dried haricots), cheddar, feta

vegetables
4/5 from 8 ....... leeks, potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, garlic, apples, clementines

carbs
2 from 3 ....... potatoes (already in veg), pasta, couscous

miscellaneous ....... chicken carcasses (they're free), porridge oats, bread, butter, milk, tea bags, tinned tomatoes, vegetable oil (olive oil if enough in kitty)

cynic - 04 Apr 2013 08:17 - 22767 of 81564

sticky .... i have not ducked out at all ..... it is you now trying to move the goalposts as i think you see the sand slipping from beneath your feet

i only ever volunteered to feed you well, healthily and economically as that is where my knowledge lies ....

you have my initial week's shopping list above, but there is plenty of variation in there and also other things i could have added ...... i started out at £20 a week for food, but volunteered that i thought it a bit heavy, so asked for your suggestion of a sensible food budget from £56 (remember your rent and council tax is paid) .....

cynic - 04 Apr 2013 08:21 - 22768 of 81564

btw, those who are disabled, chronically ill etc etc get (are genuinely entitled) to many more benefits than just the £56 that was first mooted - i believe the £56 is unemployment benefit only

goldfinger - 04 Apr 2013 08:34 - 22769 of 81564

Ohhhh dear cynic.

take it like a man.
