You really need to find the mouse's home or where they/it are
getting in, if they haven't actually decided to take up permanent
residence with you........I know what may help but I'll tell you
after you've finished eating.....

stockbunny, I am pretty sure there is only one mouse and it got in in a bag we brought from our other house.

OK as you know little Mices leave little pressies...they
can't help it, it's their way.....
Anywhere you can find mices 'dirt' he/she has been, by doing
a little detective work you should find evidence of his/her
movements and may be able to track back to where they are nested.
Look about for chewed up newspaper, cardboard, fabric,polythene,
that would be used for nesting material.
It will be somewhere out of drafts, possibly warm and not likely to
be disturbed too often - somewhere out of the way.
We had one once who was nesting in the bottom of a wellie boot!

Where is he getting his food from?
Check any possible sources - cupboards, bin etc
And he'd need water so where is he getting that?
Both of these may be good starting points for finding a mices dirt
trail.......

I used to enjoy ASDA's own brand haddock fish fingers, they were so nice I recommended them to lots of people, then they took them of stock and just have cod now, and they are about as bad a fish finger I have ever had....don't eat fish fingers any more!!

Stockbunny, thanks for that, I have been looking for such evidence but I haven't found it yet probably because the mouse has not been resident for long. I wonder if he could have been so frightened by his night time encounter with me in bed that he has hidden for a few days ?!

I will keep looking .....................

optimistic, we get ours from sainsbury's but they often do not have them, they are so much nicer than cod...

When I get to Sainsbury's I will give them a try, thanks Space.

Thing is Spacie - he wont touch the bait on the traps
if he's got a food source elsewhere - I'd check that first
cos it doesn't sound like he needs to take risks to get food
if the traps are not being touched.

stockbunny, good point, I will have a look around but I dont think we have much easy to get at food. In fact I am going to have a look now and I will report back.

OK had a good look in the kitchen in all the cupboards and no signs of mouse activity, no chewed boxes and no little black rice grains ;-) we keep most of out food inside plasic boxes or in the fridge because we had mouse problems years ago (actually from mice the cat brought in and which then escaped and bred in the gaps between the floors, it took us ages to get rid of them)

Reminds me of something that happened then, after the old mice had been exterimated we found a nest inside a canvas toolbag, as you said it was made of paper and plastic and bits of wool etc but the funny thing was they had a stash of cat biscuits that they must have stolen from the cats bowl!

Have you got animals now? Animal food?
What about vegetable rack/bread bin/fruit bowl?
I know it's not easy - we actually turned out the conservatory
where the mouse was nested in the wellie boot twice before we
did finally realise he was there! Up until then we didn't think
of tipping upside down and banging the bottoms of footwear!! LOL
He was doing midnight flits to my bread bin - little whatsit!

SB, we don't have any animals or animal food at the moment and I checked the fruit and no sighs there either. Trouble is our house is packed with stuff and I don't think there is any chance of going through it all. However I am pretty sure there is only one mouse and as all the food is on one room I think he might move into there at some point.

Reminded me of another mouse story from our earlier visitors, we were watching TV on night and had not cleared the table from dinner, we had opened a pot of yogurt but hadn't eaten in all, suddenly we heard a quiet slurping sound and lookup up to see a mouse balanced on the edge of the yogurt happily eating it, the mouse did not seem to be at all worried about us and the TV !

True - they are real survivors Spacie and completely adaptable

Interesting that bunny identified her mouse as a 'he'. Spacey, have you checked the girlfriend's make-up bag and her lotions and potions shelves? Is anything missing? At least then you might be able to 'profile' your intruder as to sexual orientation. This would allow you to focus your hunt more intelligently, ie if it's a girl mouse it won't be living in a tool-box but in a box of chocolates. Ask yourself, why did the mouse chose me and not the girlfriend?

P, well I haven't done that but we are pretty sure that it was inside her hat in a back we brought down from Sevenoaks.

Following your idea I think I will assume its a girl mouse and move the ironing board into the kitchen, if that fails I will try the garage and my collection of half empty paint tins and car parts for cars we don't have any more ;-)

Have you checked the toaster - I was living in Brussels many years ago in a
rented flat. Put in the slice of toast and two seconds later, out flew
a half cooked mouse!!!!!!!!!! Tom and Jerry moment.

The mouse I have at the moment leaves 3/4 little droppings every night!
I am sure he comes in the back of sink cupboard at night and goes
out during day!

I can see why you might be more comfortable with the idea this is a 'girly' mouse, just looking for a strong man to snuggle up to at night. It's quite sweet really. And two 'females' wanting to share your bed at once! Some men pay a lot of money for that.

But if it's a hairy-arsed, unwashed rodent who's just climbed into bed with you after a night on a lager and kebab night out with his mates who suddenly found you attractive......





I think you may have my ex-husband somewhere in your house!
