Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

Cheers Ian , sorry about the tone but it does seem to have been ignored.

Thanks again.

Brian,

I will get the guys to look into this

Brian,

Can you shut down terminal and try again please?

Ian

BrianTrayda - 15 Jul 2004 11:27 - 2283 of 7315

Refresh/reload cleared it.

Felix(MoneyAM) - 15 Jul 2004 11:38 - 2284 of 7315

BrianTrayda,
Very odd. Looking at the code, I believe this may actually be a bug
in the Java plug-in. Can you let me know which one you are using?
Also, is this problem reproducible for you? I can't reproduce it here,
Felix

Again - similar scenario when first loading Terminal page. View 1802 - always streaming chart of closed US indices. Not evey time, in fact infrequent.

oh - just looked back and it was streaming FTSE as well.

Felix(MoneyAM) - 15 Jul 2004 11:52 - 2287 of 7315

Another mystifying error. Again, the VM is crashing inside a library
routine that should be bulletproof.
Is there anything at all odd about your machine or setup that could affect
this, e.g. is the VM likely to be low on memory? are you running a lot of
apps at once? can you reproduce the problem after reboot?
Reinstalling the plug-in also worth a shot in case it has somehow become corrupted.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
F

BrianTrayda - 15 Jul 2004 12:05 - 2288 of 7315

Felix you have my sympathy :)
Been there with this type of problem. :)
The only thing I noticed on this PC is that it's so damn fast that I've seen floating point errors in other apps (older) that try to muck around with the floating point registers. They seem to do it based on timing loops that are now too short in duration. It's a P4 3.2 with Hyper Threading (Win2003 Server [used as workstation]) and it's incredibly fast at the processor/memory level.

If the error is coming out of the Sun Java libraries then I'll just keep an eye out for the next java release. Nowt you can do is there.

Felix(MoneyAM) - 15 Jul 2004 12:31 - 2289 of 7315

Thanks BT.
As an aside, I actually doubt that the problem you describe is the case with
the Java plugin, although I can believe it happening with other older software.
Sun test the VMs pretty exhaustively, and they care a lot about things like
forward/backward compatibility and their flagship software being seen as
reliable. They also work with people designing new CPUs, so are unlikely to
be caught napping by this kind of thing.
Would be interested anyway if you have links to information about timing-
related issues with hyperthreaded CPUs,
F

Streaming charts seem OK - except for VMOB

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Jul 2004 08:54 - 2291 of 7315

Doc,

I will take a look.

Ian

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Jul 2004 08:57 - 2292 of 7315

Doc,

Apologies for this - you should now be getting data.

Ian

DocProc - 21 Jul 2004 09:12 - 2293 of 7315

Thank you Ian. The inclusion of a new stock's data to Charts isn't automatic then? I am suprised you have to do it manually.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Jul 2004 09:13 - 2294 of 7315

Doc,

To tell the truth I don't know what magic the tech guys use to do this, but apologies for the inconvenience.

Ian

DocProc - 21 Jul 2004 09:26 - 2295 of 7315

"Reuters reported overnight that Virgin Mobile VMOB_w.L , Britain's fifth-largest mobile phone company, had set a price at the bottom of its 200-220 pence range to try and ensure good performance by the stock after it starts trade at 8 a.m."

I read the piece above on reuter's site. However, I note how you don't have any data for VMOB on Charts until just a little after 9am and the first Trade seems to be at 08:52am, sorry 08:53am, sorry 08:54 am (it keeps altering!!!!)when the volume is already 3,505,300

Have you had a problem with this new issue?

Hope it doesn't happen every time there's a new issue. I'm sure it won't. Perhaps your data provider isn't keeping his customers upto date, eh? :-)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Jul 2004 09:27 - 2296 of 7315

Doc,

There was a problem with us displaying this which you kindly alerted us to at around 8.40 hence the information then coming through at the time you have pointed out.

Ian

DocProc - 21 Jul 2004 09:31 - 2297 of 7315

Sorry. just realised live streaming only has ONE page. To look at the early trades one has to use "Time" not "Streaming". Hence the impression of the earliest Trade time changing on "Streaming".

However, there wasn't any Streaming Charts data before "9am-ish" so am i correct with my assumptions?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Jul 2004 09:33 - 2298 of 7315

Doc,

As I said the we had a problem which you alerted us to which I thank you for which wee then resolved which is why the information was not showing on the charts until just after you informed us.

Hope this helps,

Ian
