required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Stan, makes me puke though when I think deeply about the English National team and the players and how much they earn.

Is Rooney really worth £200 grand a game, is Gerrard worth £175 grand a game. Is Lampard worth £145 grand a game?????????????.

Then look at the German team the captain Mertasaker the goal scorer highest paid on £90 grand a week, the others a lot less.

We have to be mugs to be watching these over inflated 'so called stars'.

Stan - 21 Nov 2013 09:02 - 2289 of 6918

G/F and All, Off out now to "Practice what I Preach" -): See you later.

Chris Carson - 21 Nov 2013 09:06 - 2290 of 6918

What is annoying is glory hunting Man U fans whingeing!

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2013 09:12 - 2291 of 6918

Chris, hey just because our lot get paid well over the top doesnt mean that I agree with it, far from it.

By the way Barclay is going to UTD in january my snitch on the inside tells me.

Dead cert.

Left back Baines isnt.

Youl be whingeing then LOL.

Chris Carson - 21 Nov 2013 09:23 - 2292 of 6918

GF - So I take it you are going to keep your box at Old Trafford then if that happens mate? Surprised you lot can remember pre-premiership. Rooney 'Once a blue always a blue' Jack Rodwell the last EFC alleged English wonder kid rotting in the reserves at Man City. All about money and if United offer enough money no doubt Barkley will go the same way. I live in hope it doesn't happen. :O)

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2013 09:55 - 2293 of 6918

Chris.......7 of us own the box. Think we have to pay again in 2015, 5 year contracts.

Ronaldo will be back with us by then so yep will renew.

Shame for Rodwell he was a bright newcomer at one time and Fergie certainly liked him.

Chris Carson - 21 Nov 2013 10:31 - 2294 of 6918

LOL GF, typical arrogance! What makes you think Ronaldo would want to go back to Old Trafford. Where exactly in England was he born again? No point whingeing about the state of Englands national team when the Premiership attracts the best players in the World. Sadly the majority of fans of teams in the Premiership couldn't give a dam about the National Team.

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2013 11:25 - 2295 of 6918

Yep the reason being they have been crap for years, now if they had been good, that wouldnt be the case.

DID YOU KNOW,

Ronaldo when born was named after Ronald Reagan. And born on the island of Madeira.

Straight up.

Chris Carson - 21 Nov 2013 11:44 - 2296 of 6918

Italia 1990 England team came very close. Along came the Premiership, England team shite for 23 years coincidence?

One or two of you've mentioned 74, 76, 78, 80, but just because England did'nt get through to the finals Scotland. N Ireland, R O Ireland did which contained players who played in the English leagues.

...

N Ireland, R O Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are foreign re England.

---

Chris Carson,

On club v country; football and rugby league I prefer club, for rugby union and cricket it's internationals. Preferring club football doesn't stop me enjoying the World Cup and wanting England to do well - looking forward to seeing Japan.

1992 and '94 bad, '96 good; not the Premier League's doing. As I mentioned, I don't blame the Premier League for having less than 30, yes only 30, capable English players.

Cheers,
KidA

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2013 12:34 - 2298 of 6918

KidA 30 capable players jeez thats ridiculous. SO LOW!!!!!!

Mind its how you define capable aswel.

In my book itd be ................................2.

And that might be a 100% over statement.

Stan - 21 Nov 2013 14:55 - 2299 of 6918

On the point of obscene amounts of money being picked up by players, agents, coaches, managers and of course some Directors in just the top tear of English football, this started when large amounts of Murdoch money was allowed to be ring fenced by something called The Premier League Ltd. set up purely for keeping money for the so called top teams in the country.

...Only people not to benefit financially from this windfall are the actual fans of the teams up and down the country... in fact the entrance ticket charges are also obscene in my view.

Add to that the fact that we have a lots of dubious obscenely rich foreign individuals as owners, and the game that we knew (which was by no means perfect) has changed for the worst.

grannyboy - 21 Nov 2013 15:01 - 2300 of 6918

KidA N Ireland, R O Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are foreign re England.

Not sure what you mean with that coment?...Seeing what i said was that most of the players that played in those national teams played in the English leagues, do you have difficulty understanding that?

As to supporting ANY team...No i don't bother, not even my local team who i used to go all over the country watching, I don't like how the systems run and how much money is involved....

Stan - 21 Nov 2013 15:05 - 2301 of 6918

Which teams that then GB?

KidA - 21 Nov 2013 15:07 - 2302 of 6918

One change I'd like to see, keepers not allowed out of the penalty area.

EDIT:

No difficulty understanding that foreign players playing in the English leagues made tournament finals English players playing in the English leagues didn't make. My post just mentions that they are foreign. The number of players playing for both one of those national teams and a club registered to play in the English leagues is about the same now as it was then.

grannyboy - 20 Nov 2013 09:56 - 2266 of 2302

Stan the simple fact is there is to many foreign players in the English leagues and not enough English(Scotish,Welsh etc) being brought on that are world class players, the exception being Townsend who at least shows some skill and enthusiasm....

Spot on !

KidA - 20 Nov 2013 11:45 - 2271 of 2303

Too many foreign players??? England '74, '76, '78, '80?

Missing your point here ????

England were just shite at the time end of. Top 2 teams Leeds and Liverpool were stuffed with foreigners (Scots) and they qualified in '74 and '78 and in '76 bloody Wales (yep and I was there) qualified for the Euro quarter finals !

Imo ... nope , they should have won it that year though they did push their luck before they met Germany.
