The Apple Mac Thread - Online Problem Solving.

Stan - 18 Oct 2006 09:24

I know there is a joint Computer solving thread but the few Apple questions on there do sometimes get missed, so thought that I would set up a dedicated one for the Mac.

...Bye the way I am quite Computer illiterate apart from what I have picked up...so no point In asking me much -):

Ian,

I wonder If you could make this thread available on the Investors side as well please?

Jonathan - 05 Dec 2007 05:31 - 23 of 138

barretec,

It's in MoneyAM's court now, I've passed on what's happening, why I think it's happening, and what I think can be done to stop it happening. I'm sure they'll have something working soon!

Jonathan.

imho

I would think intel-mac will be more at risk then the former G4 and G5 macs. You can see from the number of people wanting to hack intel-mac tiger installers for installation for windows computers.

barretec - 10 Dec 2007 19:54 - 26 of 138

well, it's been 10 days since Jonathan identified the problem that mac users are experiencing while loading links from their stockwatch. MoneyAM, could you please put this on your todo list and resolve this issue. thanks

IanT(MoneyAM) - 11 Dec 2007 07:35 - 27 of 138

barretec,

We have the mail Jonathan sent us and it is being looked into - as soon as it is resolved you will be the first to know,

Ian

Hi Ian

I understand that in the big scheme of things this will be low priority and like most companies now days you'll be under resourced, but many thanks for your reply.

barratec,

apologies for delay in getting back to you - it is on the list of enhancements, and as soon as I can give you an eta I will,

Ian

I would think intel-mac will be more at risk then the former G4 and G5 macs. You can see from the number of people wanting to hack intel-mac tiger installers for installation for windows computers.

The underlying CPU architecture (Intel vs. PowerPC) isn't likely to make any significant difference to the vulnerability of the Mac -- viruses and so on are purely software problems.

barretec - 16 Jan 2008 07:46 - 32 of 138

Hi Ian

Not sure if you are in the process of actioning this, but since yesterday I've noticed that if I click on an icon or epic from my monitor it now brings up another monitor (a repeat) in a new screen

Hope this helps

IanT(MoneyAM) - 16 Jan 2008 10:15 - 33 of 138

barretec,

I will let James know, thanks for the further information,

Ian

Stan - 22 Apr 2008 12:02 - 37 of 138

Anyone know if these are legit?

Stan - 03 Aug 2008 11:29 - 38 of 138

I have sleep set to go to sleep after 3 minutes but just recently when I return the machine is switched off.

Any ideas what is causing this please?

Quicksilver 733 OS 10.3.9. and this has never happened before.

Jonathan - 03 Aug 2008 15:39 - 39 of 138

Is the screen set to blank after a minute or so? That could kick in before the sleep hits...

Stan - 03 Aug 2008 20:26 - 40 of 138

I had to change my CDROM this morning and I tweaked the battery at the same time, it seems to sleep now..so fingers crossed.

Thanks anyway Jonathan.

Anyone else running Panther having the problems that I have been having recently on here? see the "Enhancements" thread for background.

kimoldfield - 08 Aug 2008 16:49 - 42 of 138

Stan, I am running the now relatively 'old' OS 10.4 Tiger and I have to say it is a vast improvement on Panther and none of my hardware was affected by the upgrade. I will be upgrading to Leopard in the near future, when time permits.
