AOL E-Mail Problems (AOL)

DocProc - 14 Oct 2003 11:06

AOL are not my ISP as I use Onetel.

However, I am experiencing a peculiar "non-communication" from a couple of AOL users.

1. I'm not sure whether they are actually getting my e-mails or not.
2. They do not seem to be replying to me when they most certainly should be doing so.

Anyone else having similar problems?

(Wise cracks will be smiled at but are not really welcome)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 14 Oct 2003 12:37 - 23 of 42

Doc,

I will E mail you directly to see if you get that one - can you please reply if you do?

Thanks

Ian

Still no other e-mails received other than those already confirmed.

Doc,

I have just internal mailed myself and all was ok - from what I can ascertain, it seems to be a sporadic problem at your end - I would contact your E mail provider to see if they can shed any light on it.

Thanks

Ian

A subscription e-mail just came in - but nothing else.

Lunch calls.

MoneyAM's "High Noon" subscription e-mail came in, timed at 13:21

Still no other e-mails received other than those already confirmed.

Just in, timed at 13:42

"Hi Bob,
Can you let me know if you receive this E mail?
Thanks
Ian"

IanT(MoneyAM) - 14 Oct 2003 13:50 - 32 of 42

Doc,

Our E mail does go through a virus scan which usually takes a few minute to complete and then it should arrive in your inbox - however, it should take that long to reach you.

Having said that I did run a test of sending internal mail and it came through very speedily. I would still suggest that the delay is being caused somewhere with your E mail provider.

Regards

Ian

Right!

I have now significantly altered:

1. My OneTel.Net Password to my satisfaction. There did seem to be an issue with the doing of this when the "new" password was similarly near to the "old" one.
2. My OE password has similarly been altered.

I'll now do some more tests.

DocProc - 14 Oct 2003 14:35 - 34 of 42

I can e-mail myself OK from my own m/c. Nearly "instant speed" at 56k too.

skinny and/or IanT - if you could oblige me with an e-mail, please?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 14 Oct 2003 14:37 - 35 of 42

doc - one sent through internal MoneyAm mail - do you want me to send a regular one as well?

Ian

DocProc - 14 Oct 2003 14:38 - 36 of 42

Please.

skinny - 14 Oct 2003 14:39 - 37 of 42

Done.

Ian

Rec'd your ian@moneyam.com at 15:40

Thank you guys.

It seems there was a problem and, to some extent, it has been solved. I'm still waiting for replies from the AOL people pertinent to my first post and that looks a bit "wait and see" for me I think.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 14 Oct 2003 18:50 - 40 of 42

Docproc,

AOL have been closing down massively on people who spam there, and as such there are now strict setups which have to be maintained to be able to send email to AOL users.

MoneyAM had fallen foul to this setup a number of weeks ago, and as such were unable to send email to AOL users, but now this has been fixed, we can now communicate with them.

You need to ask the ISP of the people who are sending you the email to contact AOL about their setup to see if they are being blocked.

DocProc - 15 Oct 2003 00:11 - 41 of 42

A tough e-mail day for me and 'Thank you very much' Skinny and Ian for your help.

You might be pleased to know I have now heard from all my AOLers so it does seem that e-mails are now getting through.

One of them says, "Thank you for your e-mail". In actual fact, I have sent this person a total of 7 e-mails. She does not say to which one she is replying.

If I had a problem it seems to now be sorted. If AOL users had a problem, then so does it too.

angi - 15 Oct 2003 11:27 - 42 of 42

Please ring aol to complain.

My first problem was non delivery of daily e mails from digitallook. I complained to them and was told they had been blocked by AOL and could do nothing about it. I then rang AOL and alm,ost immediately the emails recommensed.

I am now missing emails from friends, relatives etc. and maybe many others I don't know about.
