Nice bit about company from April 2002. Looks like things said at time were correct. Looking forward to further good news.
Red-Eye is the brainchild of inventor George Gallagher, founder of Zimed and now technical officer of the enlarged group. It uses fibre optics to monitor the dosage of fluids delivered to patients through intravenous drips - but without the lines having to be constantly checked by nursing staff. For hospitals, it saves valuable nursing time, works as an early warning system, and can prove itself to be more cost effective than traditional methods. For Zimedical it could be a very profitable opportunity.
The device has been designed from the bottom up, by talking with the nurses who monitor the patient's drip every-twenty minutes on a daily basis. The result is a product which it claims to have both nurses' and patients' needs in mind. Already approved as a class I medical device, all that remains is for the company to go out and sell it.
As yet, however, the marketing and sales force behind the product has been minimal. Gallagher has been operating as a one-man salesman in addition to his other management roles at the company. Even so, the product has been trialled in 59 hospitals - and 29 have gone on to purchase an average of just over 5 Red-Eye systems each. The others are still continuing trials. To date some 220 units have been sold. Sales for the 9 months to December 2001 amounted to 21,000.
An experienced sales force is now being put in place. The company is now raising 717,280 through a placing and open offer of new shares. The money is being used to hire a team of 12 full-time employees to build a national sales force. According to chairman Michael Fort, the contribution that the new team will make to sales should mean that the cash raised will be enough to see the group past break-even in around 15 months time.
There should also be funds available to speed other similar products down the pipeline. These include a catheter-monitoring product, a networked monitoring device and a fluid recognition product. The most fully developed, the Red Eye III catheter monitor, is expected to reach the market in just over 12 months.

Zi Medical PLC
22 January 2004
Zi Medical plc (the 'Company')
Proposed equity issue
Zi Medical plc, the specialist developer of innovative medical device
technologies with an emphasis on drug infusion therapy, announced today that the
Board is considering a further equity issue to strengthen the Company's balance
sheet, provide additional working capital to support the increase in turnover
expected following the launch of the Company's RedEye infusion device and to
support the Company's development of new products.
Whilst the Board is encouraged by the support for the Company's shares shown by
the Stock Market in recent days it is anticipated that if the proposed equity
issue proceeds it will be at a price lower than the current price quoted in the
market.
Executive Chairman, Michael Fort said:
'We are encouraged to see that the achievements of the Company have been
received with such great enthusiasm by investors. With the commercial launch of
the RedEye product, in partnership with Baxter Healthcare, we believe that the
Company has reached a stage in its commercial development where it would be
appropriate to seek further funding to facilitate the Company's future growth.'

I'd say time get out and take profit. Get back in later when we know what the issue price will be.

This share up 10.8% friday and strong buying after the bell 125k. Profit takers have sold yet the price has risen - Maybe a big order to fill from one of the institutions. Denzil where did you get the upside target of 41p from and is that target a possibility short term or will we have to wait 1-2 years. Good luck looking forward to Monday.

robstuff. You and the rest of the stockholders WERE NOT OFFERED ANY @ 12P, at least MOST of the stockholders. Has there been any explanation from the company as to why there was not a simple rights issue and why the arbitary figure of 12p was arrived at when, patently, a far higherfigure COULD HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED.

Can someone advise me as to why City Equities buy shares in this company and then sell them off - Is it significant that when they announce that they have sold them off the price decreases significantly. Have they taken all the profit out of this companies share value and offloaded their shares onto so called 'CLIENTS'. Informed opinions welcome.

Should have been a rights, it would still have knocked the price but everyone would be an equal s/holder, instead there's instant profit for a few at the cost of others, Damaging! Probably unable to get a rights underwritten, all in all the signs are not good and I have sold.

Lets set the past to one side. The 'tree' has been duly shaken and all the loose holders, such as Robstuff, have left the scene. But, of course, all that is 'financial' stuff. The company actually make a living from selling its products and they seem to be doing quite well. There are STILL the age old rumors of an offer for the company and (since I was in them @4p - out at 24p and back in @15p) I think I will let this one ride until the next'awakening'

Hilldee ..things are looking brighter ..was up 2.75 at one stage earlier ..but that was due to outrages spread by mm's 16-19 ..anyway ..now it is becoming more realistic currently showing 16-17.5 .. but lets hope we get the some news on this sooner rather then later.. which i believe is the reason for about turn today ..it vll be interesting to see how this finishes today.. no doubt the mm's always get to know things in advance ..so well have to see the day out b4 reading too much into todays rise

Kantona, I agree with you something is about to happen, maybe the contract announcements that investors have been waiting for, but can you explain what type of buys can be made after the bell and to the extent that they have bought.
425,000 shares purchased after 16.30hrs the majority of the deals at a premium price. I wonder what Monday will bring - its got to be a blue day again Good luck :-)

As I was the one to start this thread-I might as well put my 2 pence worth in !
It did fly ! but I don't think the SM thought it would be so soon ? Went up to 32p + shortly after. (wish I sold back then but didn't)
The small cap mkt overall is taking a battering at the moment and Zi Med is being impacted as well. should turn around once sentiment improves and buyers return.
Also, Zi Med & mms have been cautious not over play expectations.
Once we start to see a string of good news releases ie contracts, expected sales & revenues etc., the price will resume it's upward momentum.
I, for one, would continue to top up at these levels, if I had the spare dosh.
