How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Harlosh - 19 Apr 2005 16:44 - 2313 of 10502

Danbury from yesterday didn't win but they often do.

Harlosh - 19 Apr 2005 17:10 - 2316 of 10502

Italian Mist in the 17.05 is playing up. If the horse was withdrawn in the middle of trading would we risk losing our stakes?

Scripophilist - 19 Apr 2005 17:25 - 2317 of 10502

All sorts of fun in the 17:20 LOL! Will anybody finish the race?

Having a good day.

Bolton look value tonight. Saints have some key defenders out and they were not that great at defending before especially away. Would be wonderful to see a shock but just can't see any chance at all to be honest. I won't be betting I will be down the gym.

Fundamentalist - 19 Apr 2005 17:39 - 2319 of 10502

Scrip

not going to be able to trade this pm - if i was i would wait for saints to go in front then back bolton ahead of the saints collapse lol

Fundamentalist - 19 Apr 2005 18:02 - 2320 of 10502

huge gamble on go green in the 6.05 at brighton

Fundamentalist - 19 Apr 2005 18:11 - 2321 of 10502

never got into the race and finished way back

Scripophilist - 19 Apr 2005 18:48 - 2322 of 10502

I reckon you could see some pricing out of kilter for the Bolton match given the gloomy consensus for Southampton. So here are some stats.

My calculated odds, 1.75 Bolton, 5.31 Southampton

Next goal, 1.63, 3.23

Total goals from 1 or more

1.08,1.38,2.12,3.92,8.55,21.67,62.78

Correct scores, 1-0 7.6, 2-0 8.95, 0-1 15, 0-2 20.5, 0-0 13, 1-1 8.85

In play

If Bolton 1-0 up at half time around 1.22; 2-0 1.04, if Southampton up 1-0 at half time 1.79

55mins is where the crossover occurs that a draw is more likely than a home win.

Cool! Just got back from the Gym and listened to the last five minutes.
