Interesting extract from the "Omnipac" link:
"Although starch based polymers have been in the market place for almost 2 decades they have not, as yet, been able to capture as much market share, of the packaging film and bag market, as oxo-degradable plastics have done since their launch 4-5 years ago.
This is possibly due to the high cost of starch based raw materials ( 3.75 times as expensive) as well as the limited usefulness of the plastic produced, which has poor clarity, gloss and surface finish as well as poor water resistance and requires increased thickness of plastic (nearly twice) when attempting to achieve similar mechanical properties to normal plastic bags. Would love the SP to be above 17.5p but I would guess at around 5p.
Anyway, all the best for 2007. I am nicely in United Utilities. Up by 40% and a nice hike today but what makes it even better is the DIVI!!!

there is a truism that deals that take a long time to materialise almost never happen ..... it seems to me that SEO have been promising contracts and results since before some of you were born and have yet to come up with a result.
as i posted earlier, wish i had had the balls to short at 3p!

cynic: there is a truism that says that over-generalisations are a dangerous thing. From my own business experience, some deals seemed to take for ever and a day but eventually came in. Reasons: (a) it took time to negotiate at the decision making level; (b) the proposal needed to be rethought; (c) a change of salesman reaped dividends; (d) the client wasn't initially ready. Some or all of these could well apply to SEO. Changes have deen made at sales interface level so it would be wise to wait for these to take effect. As I've said before, patience is the key virtue at the moment. Anyone who is overly negative or positive probably don't know what they are talking about. It might be sensible, as you ar not a holder, to go away for 4 months (giving 6 months in total for positive results) then come back and either crow cock-a-hoop or bite your lip, sorry - beak!

my own business experience tells me thhat the truism holds true.
as for SEO's fate, i shall not crow if it goes belly up .... not my style.
i actually suspect it will limp along on its zimmer frame for a little while yet, the sp stumbling up a bit and then down again, with the probability of the downward trend continuing.

From my business experience, Eric, the good deals are signed quickly. The deals that take an age to knock into shape are usually less productive. Thats my experience.
But, hey, deals are imminent now - haven't you read the September RNS?

I can see a SPrice of 50p.
Perhaps after a consolidation or two.

Fred. You could well be right about a consolidation - Schroders probably will not be comfortable with the penny share status. Not necessarily good for the sp but could come with the results with a 'solid' business forecast (no, cynic, that doesn't mean 'crap'!).

I reckon SEO may top the inverse VTP ratio. Value to Posts is about 1500! The answer might be to increase the post volume - 100 per day would imply a cap of about 90m by year-end!

according to Barrie Hozier, Stanelco's finance director.
We expect that starch capsules will displace most of the existing gelatine capsules from the capsule market to become the new standard, he commented, whilst predicting that the market opportunity is upwards of a billion dollars.

Back in 2003 when the Ingel deal was signed with Isracaps, this article was published, and the comments must apply equally to the Carclo capsules, maybe more so as there are some new options with the Carclo capsules that weren't available with the Ingel capsules
27/10/2003 - UK-based Stanelco has licensed rights to a non-gelatine encapsulation process developed by its subsidiaries Adept Polymers and Stanelco Fibre Optics to Isracaps, an Israeli company.
The news comes hard on the heels of a patent dispute between Stanelco and BioProgress, another UK firm specialising in non-gelatine encapsulation. Neither company was available to comment on what bearing the outcome of the lawsuit may have on the licensing deal before this article went to press.
Isracaps gains rights to use the starch-based process in its home market to manufacture capsules in which drugs, vitamins, food additives and other substances can be preserved in liquid form.
In a statement, the Israeli company noted that encapsulation is currently carried out using gelatine, which limits the substance forms that can be encapsulated and is a longer process. Isracap maintains that the starch-based technology developed by Stanelco is 40 per cent cheaper than gelatine-based alternatives.
Yaron Berenholtz, Isracaps' chief executive, said: Presently, less than half the range of available drugs can be packaged in gelatine capsules due to the interaction with the gelatine. The introduction of capsules made from starch, derived from plant sources will open up the drug capsules market and drastically reduce costs."
Israpac was formed with the express purpose of handling the Stanelco, and is still in the process of setting up manufacturing facilities in Israel and recruiting initial staff. It is also in talks with pharmaceutical companies and institutional financial investors, with a view to raising funds and signing a partner for the technology.
Stanelco says that it developed the starch-based process by combining the polymer film expertise of Adept with its own in-house radio-frequency-based sealing technology, stemming from its activities in fibre optics. The company has high hopes for the technology, according to Barrie Hozier, Stanelco's finance director.
We expect that starch capsules will displace most of the existing gelatine capsules from the capsule market to become the new standard, he commented, whilst predicting that the market opportunity is upwards of a billion dollars.

boldtrader Suggest you don't bait the breath. May be under water for some time. But may resurface in second quarter. I think right to hold at current level but I also see time to get back in. I am hoping that we might get a moderately encouraging RNS or, perhaps more likely, indications of progress with prelims (last year were 28th February). This could lead to a buying opportunity at lower risk. Well, that's my theory; currently funds seem to be better employed elsewhere. So, good luck to long term holders and otehr interested parties.
