THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Right back. Cynic still hanging around I see. Like a tramp ouside marks and sparks binned food dustbin.

Starts arguments for arguments sake.

Wouldnt mind but hes been spoon fed all his life and hasnt a clue what real life is all about. Pampered upper class cissy boy.

doodlebug4 - 09 Apr 2013 17:30 - 23167 of 81564

"who is to define a "low life" etc and using what criteria?" There seemed to be a lot of what I would define as "low life " celebrating Margaret Thatcher's death on our streets last night. Groups of socialist yobs and a lot of them barely out of nappies.

cynic - 09 Apr 2013 17:32 - 23168 of 81564

now now - i know you (allegedly) can't read this, but weren't you warned off making disparaging remarks without being able to back them up?

you are of course very egotistical to presume that all posts are for your benefit .... rest assured they are not!

cynic - 09 Apr 2013 17:33 - 23169 of 81564

doodle - surely you wouldn't put sticky in such a (low life) category? .... shame on you!

greekman - 09 Apr 2013 17:34 - 23170 of 81564

This part of your post says it all, "Why on earth would low lifes even think about working when they can see the rich frittering dosh after dosh at say Aintree and Ascot etc etc on expensive plonk and fashionable buffets etc etc".

There will always be people with money, even in communist countries where all are supposed to be equal there are many billionares.

For so called socialism to survive you have to have money and that money more often than not is due to capitalism.

I presume you want all equal as that is what your post implies. It also implies, because you did not answer my question that you think that it is right that those who dont work, won't work should be paid to do so by those that do work.

As for the excuse re them going our to rob and pilage, that is a ridiculos argument.
I have no problem with paying just enough at subsistance level, its just the higher than subsistance level I am against.

As for the disabled and truly poor decent types, I again have no problem as I have never stated that those who guenuinly deserve help should not receive it.
Both my brother and Sister in Law are seriously disabled after being in work for many years, so I know only too well how they need assistance.

Haystack - 09 Apr 2013 17:35 - 23171 of 81564

The minimum wage is £6.19, so £56/week would be 9.05 hours work. At that rate there would be no tax so gross and net would be the same.

However, there is no reason to keep to such low figure. It might be better to get 35 hours of social work for the benefit as an incentive to get a real job.

goldfinger - 09 Apr 2013 17:36 - 23172 of 81564

How do you define socialist yobs?. How do you know they support socialist partys?.

You must live in a run down area DB. Are you very poor?.

cynic - 09 Apr 2013 17:36 - 23173 of 81564

greek - recent history shows a number of instances where sticky casts disparaging assertions, and will repeat them several times, but will not be able to back them up

hays - i was actually aware that i had fallen into the "below taxable threshhold" trap, but i was trying to determine what happened pro-rata (if that makes sense) - e.g. what's the nett score if you earn £90 pw or £120? ..... perhaps i've shot myself badly, as perhaps the tax-free limit is closer to £15k pa (i.e. nearly £300 pw)

goldfinger - 09 Apr 2013 17:39 - 23174 of 81564

Greekman ....what job did you used to do?. You havent answered my question yet.

The reason why I ask is because if you do really know what the underclass is capable of FOR HAVING NOTHING TO LOSE, then you wouldnt have completed the above post.

doodlebug4 - 09 Apr 2013 17:43 - 23175 of 81564

From the Telegraph;

Members of various organisations including the Anti-Bedroom Tax Federation, the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, the Socialist Working Party, the International Socialist Group, were joined by members of the public to mark the occasion.

Anti-capitalist campaigners shouted from loudspeakers, "Maggie, Maggie, Maggie" as the crowd replied "dead, dead, dead".

goldfinger - 09 Apr 2013 17:46 - 23176 of 81564

Ive worked for the DHSS I know what people with nothing to lose are capable of. They are desperate and will stop at nothing believe me.

Lets face it only 20 months ago we had RIOTS on the streets and the situation boiling up now is far worse.

Can you deny that?.

We even had students rioting in London. so please dont underestimate what lengths people will go to.

Haystack - 09 Apr 2013 17:46 - 23177 of 81564

cynic
I don't think the amount is important. It is perfectly sensible to get benefit recipients to work 35 hours for £56. That would be the deal if you want the benefits. Unfortunately we won't get it while we have a coalition. It is a pity that we have to wait until after the next election to get a clear Conservative majority.

cynic - 09 Apr 2013 17:47 - 23178 of 81564

doodle - not exactly the foremost non-partisan publication it has to be said :-)

hays - 35 hours for £56 falls heavily into the exploitation category ..... however, there is certainly a balance to be struck between that and something that is at least "liveable" albeit with care - e.g. it doesn't have to pay for the latest mobile phone or running a car

goldfinger - 09 Apr 2013 17:48 - 23179 of 81564

DB and you had that down your street. You poor soul.

goldfinger - 09 Apr 2013 17:49 - 23180 of 81564

Right laters chaps got a sauna and turkish bath booked for 6.15.

greekman - 09 Apr 2013 17:50 - 23181 of 81564

Goldfinger,

To answer your question, I was a Police Officer for over 25 years, working for most of my service in an area that had the worse reported crime rate in the country, so I doubt that anyone knows more than I do what the underclass (your word not mine) are capable of, Murder, Rape, appalling violence and the rest.
Of course these acts are not limited to any one part of society!

A Sauna and Turkish Bath, don't let the poor underclass find out, they will start rioting after all whats the difference to the rich frittering dosh after dosh at say Aintree and Ascot etc etc on expensive plonk and fashionable buffets etc etc.

cynic - 09 Apr 2013 17:54 - 23182 of 81564

well "splattered" ...... chuckle chuckle chuckle

no doubt sticky will come back and tell you you must be one of the bribe-taking, black-bashing pigs :-)

Haystack - 09 Apr 2013 17:57 - 23183 of 81564

Here is something would upset lefties like goldfinger.

My kids both went to a very posh prep school until 13. There were only 15 pupils in their class. The younger of my sons has just had a class reunion. They are all now 16/17 years old now. The parents of the boy who arranged the reunion paid for everything. I won't tell the venue as if I told you you would be pretty shocked. Licencing laws did not apply as it is a private residence as well as a public building and one of the boys lives there.

On arrival the 15 boys were served champagne and cavier by 5 waiters. A private tour of the premises followed and then dinner waited on by another set of waiters. There was very fine red and white wines followed by port.

A trifle excessive for a primary school reunion.

Chris Carson - 09 Apr 2013 17:59 - 23184 of 81564

GF - Change your username to hypocrite, sauna and turkish bath? :O)

Haystack - 09 Apr 2013 18:05 - 23185 of 81564

An interesting sub note is that the boys have now moved on to various public schools such as City, Westminster and every one of them has a minimum of 12 A* IGCSS (quite a lot more difficult than GCSEs) and some with a few more. That level of attainment is what you pay for in private education. I guess most will go to Oxford/Cambridge.
