Emerald Energy PLC
13 April 2005

Emerald Energy Plc ('Emerald' or the 'Company')

Drilling Report

Emerald is pleased to provide the following update:

The Company has completed the drilling of Vigia #1, an exploration well some 11
km to the east of the Campo Rico field, to test the hydrocarbon potential of a
structure identified by seismic acquired in 2003. The well was drilled to a
depth of 11,120 ft.

During the initial drill stem tests, the well produced 16 degrees API crude oil
from two separate zones. Under natural flowing conditions the well produced at a
rate of 440 bopd from the Une sand and at a rate of 260 bopd from the Lower
Gacheta sand.

Approval will be sought for a long-term production test of Vigia #1 that will
permit early production from this well. The long-term test production will be
carried out using a downhole pump that will increase the production rates
achieved during initial tests significantly. Following the completion of Vigia #
1 for long term testing, the Company will use the Parker 222 drilling rig to
drill the Vigia #2 appraisal well.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman, said: 'The discovery of the Vigia field,
just 11 km away from the producing Campo Rico field, will give Emerald a
significant increase in oil production and an opportunity to use the experience
we have gained in the development of the Campo Rico field.'

stockdog - 13 Apr 2005 08:01 - 236 of 249

Nice one hlyeo98.

Campo Rico #1-3 will be currently/soon producing 4,825 bopd (when #2's water problem is fixed) according to the last drilling report. The Une sand (probably produced first, followed by the lower, lesserGacheta sand) will add, say, up to another 575 with improved production to make a total of 5,400 bopd a nuice increase of 12% on exisitng output into an upward trending oil price.

Little, by little, by little . . . . as Mick Jagger used to sing.

Down 13p on results today seems unduly harsh treatment. I thought the numbers and Chairman's statement looked pretty good. The uncertainty over the Siberian JV seems neutral to me, rather than negative. Columbia and its regulatory authority seem to be in cracking form.

Did I miss something? Any views?

hi stockdog hows rover

STORMCALLER - 20 Apr 2005 00:59 - 239 of 249

stockdog,
This is a stock that trades on optimism, figures and statement were both upbeat as you say, but to a degree, "buy on the rumour sell on the news," and in truth while positive, does the news justify the inflated share price, not really, imho.
Still in. but only as a punt.

stockdog - 26 Apr 2005 12:59 - 240 of 249

I have to say Alistair Beardsall and Co seem to be on a good roll with their Columbian operation. Just need to sort out their Siberain interests, or withdraw from them entirely, which might be better in the mid-term for cashflow and concentration on the current prospects in S. America.

The follwing RNS is cheering news.

SD

LONDON (AFX) - Oil exploration group Emerald Energy PLC said it has been awarded two so-called Technical Evaluation Agreements in the Llanos Basin in Colombia.

"The award of the Cachama and Las Brisas TEAs is a further positive step towards increasing Emerald's portfolio of exploration acreage in Colombia," said Emerald chairman Alastair Beardsall. "In the highly prospective Llanos basin we now have four TEAs covering a total of over 9500 square kilometres in which we have secured the first option on future Exploration and Production Contracts without having to commit substantial funds for a seismic or drilling programme at this stage."

The agreements have a term of 10 months during which Emerald will carry out studies designed to identify the presence of prospective exploration areas within the basin.

Emerald said it may then apply to the National Hydrocarbon Agency of Colombia for exploration and production contracts for any prospective sites for drilling.

Emerald Energy plc
AGM Statement

The Company provided the following update on operations at its Annual General
Meeting held today.

"We anticipate that the remainder of 2005 will see more positive news

*The workover of wells Campo Rico #2 and #3 to reduce the proportion of
water produced will be undertaken in June. Both wells are expected to be
operational in July adding some 2,000 barrels of oil per day to production.
*The final assembly of production facilities at Vigia is underway and
production from the discovery well Vigia #1 should also commence in July.
After the initial testing period this well is expected to produce at 1,000
barrels of oil per day.
*Well Vigia #2 is being drilled and is less than 1,000ft from reaching its
planned total depth. The drilling should be completed and the well logged
during June with first production anticipated in August.
*Sulfide #1, the first exploration well on the Fortuna block will be
drilled and evaluated before the end of 2005.
*Drilling of the exploration well on the El Algarrobo block will commence
by year end.
*Applications will be made to convert some of the acreage under the TEAs
into Exploration and Production Contracts.

In November 2004 we announced that Emerald had entered into an agreement to
acquire a 25% interest in the Russian Joint Stock Company Krasnoyarskgasprom, a
company with licences to explore and develop 3 oil and gas fields in East
Siberia. We remain committed to this transaction when the proposed capital
re-structuring of Krasnoyarskgasprom by OAO Gasprom is completed.

I would like to thank all the members of the Emerald team in Colombia and London
for their hard work and determination in achieving the results we see today."

I like these almost as much as SEY, but I wish they'd resolve their Krasnoyarskgasprom JV which I feel is acting as a drag. Meanwhile, their Columbian operations look great.

Having just bounced off 135p support level up through 200dma and downward moving 25dma, it is now challenging 50dma. Hope it can hold above 200dma uuntil the shorter dma's have time to turn upwards again. Then it should motor - or not! We'll see, but it's fundamentally a good business selling into a still good oil price.

July and August should see several significant announcements from EEN, which should be positive for its shareprice.
