This is worse than the '39 Steps'.

Could someone please explain what this means? I'm assuming its in relation to zscrooge's earlier comment?

moneyplus - 28 Jan 2007 15:00 - 23386 of 27111

Ian-yes it's to do with the earlier comment from misery zscrooge! You soon get to sort out the genuine posters on the bbs but at the end of the day all want to make money!! they will either ramp or bash and you need to do your own research so that when a company you have picked is rubbished and falls back--you have the confidence to hold on rather than panic and lose money by selling. A good example is SOLA a brilliant company which has been pulled back several times by shorters and then gone on to new highs. Its possible that you can sell and buy back profitably like cynic but it's not easy to pick your timing correctly so I like to hold and take a profit when I'm happy. I mainly lose money when I get bored with a share and sell---just to watch it shoot away-Climate Exchange is one like that!!
Good luck in your investments for 2007. I can also recommend Lemming Investor .com, I have made my 60 annual fee back many times over this year.

cheers MP.

cynic - 28 Jan 2007 15:50 - 23387 of 27111

money+ .... if i may just comment fairly briefly on SOLA ..... SOLA is something of an oddity ..... many or even most newcos get off to a flying start and then falter .... by and large, SOLA's sp has gone from strength to strength ..... for myself, if i fam holding stock at the time and feel the price has gone far enough, at least for the time being, i'll take a profit, always with a view of buying back later, ideally at a lower price ...... on a couple of occasions, i have bought back at a higher price, but still made a profit ..... never forget that a profit is no profit until it's banked ..... like most of us, i have on occasion allowed greed to get the better of me and failed to act prudently.

while SOLA would certainly look to have a rosy future, the graveyard is littered with companies (and their investors) that have failed to live up to expectations and anticipations ..... thus, should SOLA disappoint at any time, be prepared for massive fallout.

moneyplus - 28 Jan 2007 16:39 - 23388 of 27111

I would absolutely agree with you cynic-I was very relieved to have sold most of my NLR before the recent plummet, not so lucky with prty and sbt though!! I tried once to take profit on a small amount of sola only to see it bounce up again very quickly so trying to hop on and off cost me that time!! I'm just not very good at it.
I know you use charts and they are a good indicator but buy and hold is best for me and of course not being too greedy! I am sticking with sola as I'd like to qualify for cgt relief-fingers crossed they don't disappoint.

cynic - 28 Jan 2007 18:08 - 23389 of 27111

but you must research research research and research some more, and then post your considered appraisal of that if your brain has not become addled in the process ..... ask fortitude; he'll tell you .... LOL :-))

According to The Times online there will be a trading update on Stanelco on Wednesday 31st January

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,8209-2564914.html

boldtrader - 29 Jan 2007 11:47 - 23393 of 27111

Emailed SEO just now asking for confirmation, will let interested holders know the outcome of /if a reply. Cheers.

boldtrader - 29 Jan 2007 12:29 - 23394 of 27111

Times info incorrect.

garyble - 29 Jan 2007 12:51 - 23395 of 27111

Was it wishfull thinking or did someone officially notify the Times that a trading statement will be issued on that date?

PATISEAR - 29 Jan 2007 12:51 - 23396 of 27111

boldtrader

I appreciate your posts, but could you please say how you know it is incorrect.
Thanks.

spiket - 29 Jan 2007 13:08 - 23397 of 27111

Boldtrader's post on Stanelco research site stated that he had rung Financial Dynamics and they told him it was incorrect.

boldtrader - 29 Jan 2007 16:24 - 23398 of 27111

patisear, yes thats correct I emailed SEO they suggested I contact Financial Dynamics, supplying the Tel No. and they informed me that there was no SEO update forecast for Wed 31/01/07.or that they could not tell me at this atage when an update was to be made public.
Like many more SEO investors I have held many years, now somewhat disillusioned at my paper loss and find that if you dont ask direct, straight honest questions you wont recieve straight honest answers. I hasten to add it was not the answer I wanted to hear!! cheers. Good luckto all holders.
