THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

" She was probably respected more throughout Europe and the rest of the World than she was in this country. "

This reminds me of chatting to a farmer in France after the hatchet job by the tory grandees and their henchmen on Maggie.

We were talking about this and that, when he said that "he was glad that we had got rid of Mad Cow disease".

My French being poor, at first I didn't understand what he was telling me, until he said with a laugh that Britain had got rid of Maggie Thatcher.

I bought a case of wine.

Fred1new - 11 Apr 2013 09:48 - 23454 of 81564

3m, Dool, and hays look the other way,

This is bad taste humour.

"David Cameron has just sent his official letter to the Thatcher residence.
It starts, “I regret to inform you that due to recent events, you now have too many bedrooms…”

When I realised Margaret Thatcher was dead, I did a double fist pump and shouted, “Fucking brilliant!”
Everyone around me was disgusted, and looking back, I suppose it was out of order.
Especially as I was the first paramedic at the scene.

“There is no such thing as society” – Margaret Thatcher, 1988
“There is no such thing as Margaret Thatcher” – Society, 2013

Margaret Thatcher’s final wish was to be cremated.
Unfortunately, we’ve no coal left.

Plans have begun for Margaret Thatcher’s state funeral.
It’ll be the first time ever the 21 gun salute is fired into the coffin.

April 2013 – Margaret Thatcher dies.
May 2013 – Hell privatised.

So we’ve had an Argentinian Pope for 2 weeks, and Margaret Thatcher dies.
Coincidence?

Fred1new - 11 Apr 2013 09:53 - 23455 of 81564

Just one more:

BREAKING NEWS: Atos declare Margaret Thatcher fit for work.

goldfinger - 11 Apr 2013 09:54 - 23456 of 81564

FRED..... you made some ref as per I was high last night......... just want to make sure you know I am a diabetic and when my suger inbalance creeps in I can give that impression.

If you look again at historical posts from last night their was a post where I couldnt even remember who you were.

Full and sorry apology.

Chris Carson - 11 Apr 2013 10:03 - 23457 of 81564

Fred's never high, full time occupation being a TWXT! :O)

Fred1new - 11 Apr 2013 10:07 - 23458 of 81564

GF

So am I, it is sometimes a Bugger, but had a very enjoyable pint or two with Stan and Ian during the afternoon.

Only hope they got home safely.

Today I can only look at food from a distance and have to run up and down the garden a few times to get the sugar balance back.

Thank god I like black coffee without sugar.

Should know better at my age.

No offence taken and I only get irritated when it registers with me that somebody is trying to irritate me.

Have a good day.

Good morning Cynic - I am afraid I am full of woman flu or something like that at the moment so, no I haven't tried any of your recpies yet but I will.

goldfinger - 11 Apr 2013 10:20 - 23460 of 81564

Fred I get rather tetchy when Im feeling a hypo coming on.

Most times I can contol it. If I Have in anyway upset you I apologise profoundly.

cynic - 11 Apr 2013 10:29 - 23461 of 81564

3m - pathetic but get well soon :-) ..... fish or meat recipe next? ..... meanwhile, we'll leave the rabid dogs to yap away to their hearts' content .....

there's the old joke of
"What's the difference between a terrorist and a wife?"
"You can negotiate with a terrorist"

change the words to fit as you may feel necessary or warranted!

Fred1new - 11 Apr 2013 11:02 - 23462 of 81564

GF,

No offence taken.

I did notice the shift and wondered a little.

=======

Have you read anything from The Sabotage Times. (We can't concentrate Why Should You) http://sabotagetimes.com/politics/margaret-thatchers-obituary-the-triumph-of-greed/

I don't agree with much within the articles, but like their constructions, which I read with tongue in cheek.

Could have been written from the other side by party zealots like Cynic, Hays or Dreams, but probably their skill levels are not up to it.

=================

3m.

From the above site an interesting insight into the reaction of the general public were the following:

“Tributes are flooding in, as one might expect. So, too, are the condemnatory opinion pieces. And this may well be one of them. Because when you’re as divisive a figure as Margaret Thatcher, your death is as likely to be celebrated as the life you led up to that point.”

Mrs Thatcher, I’m sure you’ll understand why I won’t be paying my respects, since you never afforded me the same privilege.

Thus one can understand the symbolic bitterness contained in many of the jokes about the icon.

But Cameron’s parading her, as the totem pole for the party faithful to gather around was an insult to those who suffered the excesses of her policies.

Fred did you know that one never begins a sentence with an "AND". Oh! you are so knowledgeable. However MT did not get it all right but neither do we. Have a nice rest of the day.
