MM,
Your bloody timekeeping is nearly as bad as mine...:-). Long time, how's tricks?

MightyMicro - 31 Jan 2005 01:07 - 23459 of 23498

SC: I'm well known for being late for everything except international flights :)

How's things with you?

STORMCALLER - 31 Jan 2005 01:11 - 23460 of 23498

MM,
Like yourself I have developed a carefully guarded reputation for lateness. I am well, but ran ragged trying to make sense of the newly discovered world of margin trading, one month, lost lots.............but what fun...:)
How are things your side?

MightyMicro - 31 Jan 2005 01:24 - 23461 of 23498

SC: Busy, not trading right now, too busy working on new mobile products for traders and quite a few other things.

Sorry to see this old place go . . . bit like like when they closed my favorite pizza place in Palo Alto -- but then Francis Copolla came into town and opened a wine bar with great Italian food. Change can be good.

STORMCALLER - 31 Jan 2005 01:35 - 23462 of 23498

MM,
One of life's inevitabilities of course, but the loss of a much loved friend always takes a bit of digesting. Hopefully the new place will develop it's own personality, and given time be a great place to visit. Elevated, one hopes, by the patronage of the more august visitors transferring from the old place...:-)

STORMCALLER - 31 Jan 2005 01:45 - 23463 of 23498

For the last time I have to leave this place, the ghosts already trouble me,
Gotta blow
Goodnight all

Surely that would be Coppola? Be careful Derek he could have Sicilian blood!

Kayak - 31 Jan 2005 03:14 - 23465 of 23498

Oh dear. I think I may have left it too long to say my goodbyes to Golddog's Cafe. Sadly nothing is forever.

Hello Ghosty. At least someone's still here.

Kayak - 31 Jan 2005 03:20 - 23467 of 23498

You say you've got a stash of alcohol nicked from the Cafe over the past two years? Show me!

Kayak - 31 Jan 2005 03:28 - 23468 of 23498

Blinking heck Ghosty!

(I walk through the hidden door in the cellar opened by Ghosty, into a cavernous room several times the size of the Cafe itself; every available inch of floor space and height is packed with bottles, barrels, packets of peanuts, crisps, pork scratchings, even umbrellas, handbags and hats; on a shelf, spectacles and a mobile phone neatly labelled "chocolat" catch my eye)

OK Ghosty, now let me tell you about eBay. 50-50?

Kayak - 31 Jan 2005 03:37 - 23469 of 23498

Alright Ghosty, you drive a hard bargain, 25-75 but you teach me how to go through solid walls.

Kayak - 31 Jan 2005 03:40 - 23470 of 23498

Brilliant. That crate of Mumm Napa Vintage 2000 Winery Lake will seal the deal.

Wow, what a great party you all had last night, sorry I missed it.

And I am still sorry to see this place closing down, it will be impossible to follow it. I only found the place relatively recently but it rapidly became my adopted home. Thanks Golddog for setting it up and keeping it going. Good luck with whatever your going to do now that you have some spare time.

And so to the future the new place will be opening in a couple of hours although the workmen are a bit behind so it will be a phased opening. Everyone is welcome.

Golddog we have built a small stage for you basket its in the main bar and has its own well stocked bar with as much Bods as you want, Its exclusively for you, there is also an upstairs room for you private use.

snoball - 31 Jan 2005 10:13 - 23473 of 23498

No coffee and do'nuts?

MightyMicro - 31 Jan 2005 12:09 - 23474 of 23498

Kayak:

Surely that would be Coppola? Be careful Derek he could have Sicilian blood!

It surely would. I saw him in the flesh the night the place had its official opening (Niebaum-Coppola wine bar). Guests included Steve Jobs (who lives just round the corner from it and quite often lunches there). I'll see if I can find a pic . .

Socrates - 31 Jan 2005 16:42 - 23475 of 23498

What? Where is everyone, I thought there was a party going on. Oh well I'll nip across the road to the new place.

stockbunny - 31 Jan 2005 16:43 - 23476 of 23498

Socs honey we are in Lamby's place!!! :>)
