Remember to bring jacket and tie for the evening. If wearing tailored shorts, white socks must be worn.

Also no headbutting, gouging or biting and may the best man (me!) win.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. I will be at the clubhouse by about 0815, so suggest everyone else gets there not long after so we can have a chat over a cup of coffee. Eric, will find out today if any food will be available on arrival.

Mark (aka the 'SHARK')

It's not the card in my hand I'm worried about, it's the bloody golf clubs!!

EWRobson - 05 Jun 2005 16:49 - 236 of 440

OK, you fellows: at least there is a third prize for the rest of us to go for! My problem is not the head of the clubs it is the head of my body! Can you lay a SHRINK on, Peter? Got fined 1 at the Fun Day on Friday for playing badly without swearing, so I hope there is a compensating prize for that!

Eric

ptholden - 05 Jun 2005 17:52 - 237 of 440

Eric

Little birdie tells me you are playing very well, something about 40pts in away day comps? Hiding your 7 wood under a bushel methinks. Will try and find a shrink for the day, think we might all need one if it's tres windy!!

pth

EWRobson - 05 Jun 2005 22:06 - 238 of 440

Well, I might have landed a little birdie, Peter, but my info has it that you landed an Eagle! Only 4 weeks to go. Surprising that more aren't rushing to join us. Looks like a great day in prospect and MoneyAM have done us proud with the prizes.

Eric

ptholden - 06 Jun 2005 20:17 - 239 of 440

Same thought as you Eric, fantastic prizes, surprised no further entrants. Oh well, less competition!!

pjacobs (MoneyAM) - 07 Jun 2005 11:24 - 240 of 440

looks like i'll be lugging my old faithfuls (clubs) upto longcliffe on a train. My car is taking quite a long time to sort and my insurance company still haven't sent me the claims forms although i have ranted about this claim being very urgent due to this competition.

I used the new cobra at the weeked SZ440 OMG it is a beauty of a driver very long and straight until about the 14 when the snap hook came out of no where.

If anyone thinks about using CIS for insurance, think again.

:)

PJ, Will you be "talking shop" at all when you participate? It's a Golf Day Event for sure but I would be interested to learn about anything I may have missed at your London Traders' Day, several weeks ago. Unfortunately I was unable to attend because of illness at the time. If you've got any handouts, info. booklets, etc., then I am always searching for new ways to invest......

EWRobson - 07 Jun 2005 16:22 - 242 of 440

We knew Marcus was a Shark; now we know he is a creep! lol!

Eric

markusantonius - 07 Jun 2005 17:03 - 243 of 440

You won't be saying that when I lift the Jug up at dinner, Eric! Whoops, I mean the #2 place Medal (behind PTH)! No, but seriously - just an opportunist, that's all, and I really couldn't make the Traders' Day which was a shame.

paul1812 - 07 Jun 2005 23:07 - 244 of 440

Marcus, how many lessons have you booked with the pro at Longcliffe? I think pre-comp. playing at Longcliffe constitutes insider trading and you should be penalised 2 shots. That should will move me up to third place behind Eric and PTH.

ptholden - 08 Jun 2005 08:40 - 245 of 440

Marcus has now played Longcliffe 5 times and is such a good reader of the greens knows the course better than I!!

paul1812 - 08 Jun 2005 09:53 - 246 of 440

pth 2 shots per round that will put marcus off scratch

ptholden - 08 Jun 2005 10:17 - 247 of 440

Sounds fair to me Paul!!

LOL

pjacobs (MoneyAM) - 08 Jun 2005 11:27 - 248 of 440

looks like my new pings will be ready for next friday so i can get a practice round in the weekend before.

i agree paul all home players get cut 2 shots the 75%

how would you guys feel about playing yellow ball on the practice round, you might call it something else. Basically if we play 3 balls in the morning each group gets a yellow ball which is rotated through the group to accumalate the team score, it's quite fun and you get to play as a team as well as individually. thoughts please??

paul1812 - 08 Jun 2005 12:04 - 249 of 440

We call it a Texas scramble. You could have yellow ball or each player in a team of 3 must have 6 drives (chosen ofter the drive) or only 2 scores per hole etc what does pth think?

ptholden - 08 Jun 2005 18:50 - 250 of 440

Guys

Need to speak to the Pro to make sure he is happy with a Texas Scramble, although can't think why he shouldn't be. Agree with Paul, each player must have six drives if a 3 ball and four drives if a four ball. However, must not forget that the morning is just a bit of fun!

Oh, and by the way, can't say I agree with this 'home player' business. You turn up and take your chances!!

Anybody playing with new Pings is automatically off scratch!!

pth

markusantonius - 08 Jun 2005 19:58 - 251 of 440

There is some serious over-exaggerating going on here, guys. I have only played Longcliffe the once with PTH but don't forget we're having a "fun" round a.m. which will acquaint us all with the course. After today's Midweek Medal on home soil when I lost 3 balls, dropping 8 shots over the closing 5 holes (86-11=75), I may be up to 12 for the M-AM Event, at this rate!!

Scripophilist - 08 Jun 2005 20:11 - 252 of 440

Looks like I will not be fit enough to play. I've been out a few times last month and I am struggling to play nine holes without any adverse effects. So 18 looks out of the question at the moment. Hopefully before the season is over my legs will be in better shape and I can enjoy a full round again. Maybe next time.

ptholden - 08 Jun 2005 21:11 - 253 of 440

Scrip

Shame you won't be able to make, hope you will be fitter for the enxt one. Anyidea if Cunningham will still be taking part?

Markus

Yeah, yeah, stop telling porkies, you 'sheepshaggers' just can't tell it straight!!

Oh, forgot to mention, my handicap is down to 18 from 19, think I said something inappropriate to the Handicap Secretary's Wife!!

Scripophilist - 09 Jun 2005 08:50 - 254 of 440

I think Cunningham is on holiday at the moment. Should be back soon I think.
